Not since the prime minister of the tiny Caribbean island of Grenada presented an address claiming that UFOs posed a mortal threat to the future of mankind has the United Nations been treated to such a bizarre spectacle.Many people believe the greatest threat to world peace concerns Iran's nuclear programme, so there was understandably great interest at this week's general assembly in New York when the country's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, took the platform.
But instead of seeking to reassure delegates that Iran's nuclear intentions were purely benign, Mr Ahmadinejad took advantage of his official visit to a country deemed – in the lexicon of the Iranian Revolution – "the Great Satan" to embark on a discourse about the wonders of the 12th Imam.
For those unacquainted with the more obscure tenets of Islamic theology, the 12th Imam is held by devout Shi'ite Muslims to be a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed who went into "occlusion" in the ninth century at the age of five and hasn't been seen since.
The Hidden Imam, as he is also known by his followers, will only return after a period of cosmic chaos, war and bloodshed – what Christians call the Apocalypse – and then lead the world into an era of universal peace.
Rumours abound of Mr Ahmadinejad's devotion to the 12th Imam, and last year it was reported that he had persuaded his cabinet to sign a "contract" pledging themselves to work for his return.
Another example of his messianic tendencies surfaced after 108 people were killed in an aircraft crash in Teheran. Mr Ahmadinejad praised the victims, saying: "What is important is that they have shown the way to martyrdom which we must follow."
For many of the hundreds of delegates who attended Mr Ahmadinejad's speech to the UN this week, his discourse on the merits of the 12th Imam finally brought home the reality of the danger his regime poses to world peace.
Rather than allaying concerns about Iran's nuclear ambitions, Mr Ahmadinejad spoke at length about how a Muslim saviour would relieve the world's suffering.
The era of Western predominance was drawing to a close, he said, and would soon be replaced by a "bright future" ushered in by the 12th Imam's return. "Without any doubt, the Promised One, who is the ultimate Saviour, will come. The pleasing aroma of justice will permeate the whole world."
The really alarming aspect is that – if the world's leading intelligence agencies are to be believed – he is seriously attempting to acquire a nuclear weapons arsenal.
Only yesterday, the opposition group that first revealed the existence of Iran's uranium enrichment facility at Natanz claimed that Iran was building a new bomb-proof underground site for developing nuclear weapons.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said the regime was near to completing a vast underground chamber that was linked by two tunnels to the existing complex at Natanz, and was protected against aerial attack.
As with so many of the allegations relating to Iran's nuclear activities, the NCRI's claims are impossible to verify, not least because Iran continues to impede UN nuclear inspectors.
And even if, as Mr Ahmadinejad claimed in New York, Iran has no interest in developing nuclear weapons, there is every indication that Teheran is preparing itself for war, not least because the clash with Western civilisation that the Iranian president so obviously desires will hasten, or so he believes, the arrival of the 12th Imam.

How many people at the UN do not know of the significance of any reference to Imam #12? Are they fooled by the addition of JC and other "Holy Saviours?"

One of the most serious obstacles to seeing the truth about the psychotic-sock-puppet is that we have so many folks around who have a cold war mentality with regard to nuclear weapons. This type will smugly point out that if Iran uses nuclear weapons that that would invite their annihilation and the govnmt there would not do that for that reason. They act as if the people running Iran are the kind that ran USSR. Not so.
They must face reality. This psychotic-killer-sock-puppet is reflective of a wide-spread mind set among the lalapoluzza elite there. He is an extremely dangerous person who will do the Jim Jones to prove his point. If they get nuclear weapons the world is in far greater danger than it ever was (except for the Cuban Missile crisis) in the Cold War.

I cannot think of any article in the MSM, in discussing the return of the Mahdi, that mentions the fact that Jesus will return as a Muslim, act as the Mahdi's lieutenant and after killing the swine and breaking the cross, will abolish the jizya, which means he will kill anyone who doesn't convert to Islam.
Instead we get gullible Christians lapping up A'jad's pablum about the commonalities of our religions. They may have read about his wish for the return of the 12th Imam, but how many of them know that in wishing for this, he is wishing for the deaths or conversion to Islam of millions of Christians?
In other words, talk about what Christians would call the anti-christ, the Muslim mandhi.

Don't expect Mahdi to come out of his well anytime soon. I read where Beasty Boy Ahmadinijad drops notes down the Jamkaran well. Thousands of muslims have done that for centuries. There must be a five foot high pile of scraps of paper at the bottom. I don't know if there is water in that well. If there is mahdi is one wet, cold, 12th imam.
Another point of interest. I heard an Iranian opposition activist say that Beasty Boy is not a Persian, but is Turkish...I don't expect a supernatural being to appear, but I have no doubt that at the right time, the Iranians will appoint someone...

But what he said about Jesus was related to what Ahhh-my-dinner-jacket said at Columbia for the end times , he declared Jesus as a Muslim and agreed with his return just to appease the public except his version of Jesus was that he would slaughter all the non-Muslims and bring about Peace because Allah does not allow Muslims to harm other Muslims.

When Mr. Hooper from CAIR smeared Robert Spencer on TV for a offensive comment on Jihad Watch it was Hooper that didn't reveal that the comment was on a open forum for the Free-speech CAIR seems to fight for , but even then Robert removed the insult once it was alerted to it .
CAIR speaks volumes from what they DON'T say , rather than the tripe and dribble they do spew that is usually "Allegations" against non-Muslims and Islamophobic attacks when it's a Muslim arrested or accused of hatred .
I don't understand how muslims can be so concerned with this mahdi anyway. He can't be mentioned in the koran or hadiths since he came so late in islam history. Why all the fuss over him?

Iran: Mother sentenced to death by stoning
Tehran, 28 Sept.(AKI) - A court in the Iran's second largest city, Mashad, has sentenced to death by stoning a mother-of-three for having an extra-marital affair, an Iranian newspaper reported Friday.
The daily Quds said the married woman's lover had confessed to having had sex with her and that the court sentenced him to 100 lashes.
There are currently eight women in Iranian prisons waiting to be executed by stoning, a practice usually reserved for those found guilty of adultery according to the Islamic republic's laws.
Earlier this year it was reported that a man had been put to death by stoning, the first person to be executed in this way for several years.
Capital punishment in Iran - after China, the country to carry out the highest number of executions - usually involves death by hanging.

Time is running out for Mahmoud's prediction that the Mahdi would return within two years. Let's see, he prophesied that in 2005, so I guess he has a few months left.
Certainly, as far as the Biblical prophecy is concerned, "Persia" figures prominently into the kingdom of the Beast. Well, of course, so does "Babylon" Iraq and NATO Turkey. That doesn't bode well for the ultimate success of the Western "allies" in the region. Iran, Iraq, and Turkey are the heart of the 10 Ten State Confederacy of the AntiChrist.
On that note, the emergence of the Islamic Mahdi and the Islamic `Isa (Jesus) seems to dovetail perfectly with the revealing of AntiChrist and the False-Prophet of Revelation. The Mahdi emerges from Occultation to rule from Karbala, Iraq and eventually attack Israel. The Islamic Jesus meanwhile descends on a mosque in Damascus and defers leadership to the Mahdi. Yet, as the false prophet, he condemns Christianity and calls on all to become Muslim. That would truly be the Great Deception!
Muslims have been heavily conditioned to accept the return of a Caliph and/or Mahdi. Now, many Muslims eagerly await one to emerge... I do believe these poor souls have been conditioned to accept the AntiChrist and False Prophet when they appear. Whether this is now or 200 years from now remains to be seen..

Jcom, I agree that's potentially powerful and scary grouping. The 10 nation confederacy though as read in the Bible, consists of areas located in modern day: Iran, Iraq, Turkey, North Africa, Sudan, and Central Asia. Some would argue Russia but I think this is probably incorrect. By and large though all these areas of the 10 nation confederacy of the AntiChrist are dominated by Islam.
How it may coincide? True that all prophetic reasoning is done from guesswork, and even educated guesswork that fails miserably most of the time, but I'd say he's got a better grasp on it that most.
So what do we do then? Cuddle together and watch the fallout? I read this page daily and listen to the comments; people are getting angry, but what is anybody doing about it? Sure, we declare "NOT ON MY WATCH!!!", but we might as well be talking to the wall. People cry "ban muslim immigration" and "let's go to war and destroy them", but this is never going to reach the powers on high. There's too much money involved for our politicians to do the right thing. They are creating our destiny.
