He was only trying to follow in the path of Islam's Permanent Commencement Speaker, Muhammad, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil -- to walk not in the ways of the Lord but rather, fi sabil Allah, to engage in Jihad.
And the temporary commencement speaker no doubt told the eager young graduates that they should "give something back" -- but didn't mean it in the way those American speakers, with their treacle about challenges and change and compassion and commitment, always do.
Poor mom and dad, struggling, scrimping and saving for years to send junior to college, and that's the thanks they get. They just don't make kids the they used to.
Always nice to see a spark of humanity trump a mad ideology, even if the mom may have been supporter of suicide bombing in the abstract (no way of knowing that at this point). She did not want her son to kill himself, and she tried to stop him. Mad ideologies such as Nazism, Communism, and Islam cannot fully remove aspects of human nature that are contrary to the ideological tennants.
Lets hear it for moms.

On the serious note, watch the hell that it is to live under the oppressive yoke of islam. Imagine that the mother realized the kind of things they were teaching the boy in the madrassa. How would she counter the suicide ideology, if the consensus of islamic theology aprooves suicide for the sake of Allah. How would she counter the teacher? She'd probably be beaten into submission, and the indoctrination would continue.
It's a living hell to live under Muhammad's teachings.

The story says that "surviving family members told police" ... so apparently other members of the family survived.
Meanwhile ... LOOK AT WHAT THIS MOTHER DID. Incredibly brave and wonderful. It is a shame other children died, but what an incredible woman to struggle with a son and face what must have been a very strong probability she'd die -- rather than let him commit such a crime.
Notice the weaselly wording of the AP article. Nowhere do the terms "Islam" or "Moslem" appear. There is nothing in the article to connect the incident with Islam. To make the connection, the reader has to rely on his outside knowledge that Pakistan and Afghanistan are Moslem countries.
Also note how the author simply identifies a madrassa as a "religious school", again without noting that it is an Islamic institution. This is nothing more than an attempt to smear all schools affiliated with a religion, as though he might as easily have gotten his murderous ideas at a Baptist or Catholic high school. Then there is the deceptive use of the word "school" itself. A madrassa is hardly a school in the normal sense; it's an Islamic indoctrination and training center. One might equally well describe Parris Island as a "marine school", with the implication that one learns seamanship and navigation there.

I agree, especially in the light of all the documentary pieces I have seen where the mothers of the shaheed are so proud - some actually declare that they would be ashamed if their children would not blow themselves up.
The next time some idiot mentions Timothy McVeigh, besides pointing out that his culture almost universally reviled him and put him to death, you can also ask if the idiot if he thinks McVeigh's mother is as proud of him as a shaheed's mother.

Explosions are either made of fire or set fires. This seems to be a contradiction in Islam by example of Ibn Abbas, who said , when hearing of Ali burning some apostates, that he would have killed them for changing their religion, as the Prophet ordered, but that he would not have burned them because the Prophet already warned about using Allahs punishment (fire). Of course this may not be in the Quran but it is in Ahadith, and was used as an example by many scholars and schools, to justify the death penalty for apostates, along with a few other verses and opinions. I guess these recruiting imams neglect to tell the martyrs, that because inflicting fire on the targets is actually unIslamic, they run the risk of not getting into Paradise.
Well I know as soon as these potential bombers read my words they will throw off the shackles of martyrdom and get a real job. Martyrdom Islam style, just does not pay off in the here or the hereafter...

tanstaafl, will you please notice that this is one of the rare cases and most of the time we have seen laughing mothers of shaeeds and widows of jihadi bombers screaming with joy and distributing sweets claiming that their husband is "happy in jannat" ? I don't mean to offend you, but this is an exception and we should not think that it is The Rule.
Can anyone imagine the outrage if 1% of the Christian or Jewish faith were considered terrorists or potential terrorists? Thank god that if we send our children to Catholic school or sunday school we don't have to worry about wat they will come home as, as a result.

It's really sad that the mother got killed when the bomb exploded. She seemed to me like someone who didn't believe in homicide bombings "for Allah". Now she won't be around to teach her other children that that kind of thing is unacceptable.
Of course, the other children are no longer with us, because they all got killed with the wicked boy's bomb.
