It's common sense in an age of hijacking terror, but watch for the cries of "Islamophobia."
"Feds want Muslim headwear banned from airports," by Chris Tinkler in The Sunday Telegraph (thanks to Morgaan Sinclair):
THE Federal Government believes wearing Islamic scarves should be banned at Australian airports, senior government sources have revealed.Under the radical security proposal, even the most inoffensive Muslim scarf, the hijab, which covers a woman's hair and neck, would be banned, along with several other types.
Security officials are especially concerned by two other very concealing types of scarf, the niqab and the burka....
Its far more sensible to ban Muslims from airports. People can then wear what they like, or having to take one's shoes off, and all the rest of the intrusive and humuliating security procedures.
Still it will be a good start, if that is, it is ever implemented.
Its even more sensible to ban Islam altogether.
Banning muslim markers prevents the authorities from knowing who they are dealing with. Better ban all muslims, including the inconspicuous ones.
You mean that Islam "dress" is a means of concealment? Why would a "religion of peace require that?
By the way, the occurence of men putting on the burqa or women's Islamic dress to evade capture is common in Islamic history.
As the Church Lady would say, "Isn't that convenient?"
I'm not so much for banning muslims or even Islam itself. However, muslims will use this an another reason to cry islamophobia yet again. Apparently they don't see that all people at airports, yes including infidels, are subject to searches and scrutiny. You don't hear any of them complaining. Perhaps because infidels have nothing to hide?
I find it most offensive that the so called western moderate muslim frequently points out their own victimization rather than try to help stop their own "radical" sect from bombing, blasting and killing everyone that is non-muslim. Could it be that these moderates do not act because they somehow secretly agree with the radical side? Hmm, yes I think so. Why do these same moderates ask us to "understand" islam or ask christians to "seek dialogue" with Islam, yet, muslims won't do the same in return? Why must the rest of the world change to suit the needs of Islam?
Thanks to this website and others like it, I like many others, are beginning to see that what moderate muslims say, and what they actually do, are not the same. For a long time I had watched the MSM and then wondered why things didn't make sense and why world events just keep getting worse. It wasn't until finding JihadWatch that I began to see what was actually going on. NOW it all makes sense.
Even my own personal experiences with muslims at work or in the street now make sense. I have met a few nice and kind muslims. But others were obviously and openly hostile to me without any regard to my feelings. (I'm a sensitive person who wants everyone to like me) I went away from those encounters with the attitude that I must have given a bad first impression. NOW I know better. I look back at several encounters where I work (a hospital)and realize that it wasn't me personally, but my race. Shouldn't that be called racism? Where is the outcry that muslims are already treating non-muslims like second class citizens here in the US? Hasn't anyone else noticed that instead of trying to assimilate to our culture muslims try to segregate themselves from it? How is that not racism? Why doesn't the MSM see all of this?
You know I used to call myself something of an optimist. I believe in personal freedom for everyone (including muslims) but only now realize that the freedom and equality that I wish for is not what everyone else wishes. Hence the taking from Christian rights to give to Muslim rights. I still wish for a world where all religions and nonreligious people can get along by living their faith in their own way together in one society. I'm only now beginning to believe that Islam will simply not allow that to happen. You'll have to forgive the rambling but I'm still rather new to this "factual realization" of our current society so I'll probably have a lot of questions in near future. So, please pardon my lack of knowledge.
Ban the Veil (and public mask wearing)
I wonder if the Australian determination will be lessened if John Howard loses the elections on 24 November, as is likely.
You may be amused by today's BBC story on those elections:

I agree with Ann Coulter.
Hijab does cause problems in trying to identify someone. In addition to obscuring the ears and neck, it partially obscures the forehead, cheecks, and chin. Thus the whole facial shape is obscured. I remember the times when a photograph of an alien on any official document had to be from the 3/4 angle, fully exposing the hair and one ear (the one turned to the camera). It makes a lot of sense. For proper identification, it is vital to see the entire face and the shape of the head. These add a lot to our visual pattern-recognition.
"spiritual terror".
the far left wing are winning.
mohammad atta wore a dark blue business shirt and black slacks on the morning of 9/11

Banning islamic garb is a step in the right direction; ripping out the already installed foot baths would be next; and finally banning muslims from flying -- especialy immams -- would be the best thing
Better yet , do what they do in Israel on the buses where civilians are now carrying sealed packages of Bacon so the Suicide bombers fear having their body parts touch Pork and ergo denied entry to Paradise with Muhammed and his harem of virgins.
I'm sure the average Super Market must sell
those Bacon-Bits in small packets for the shirt pocket , maybe there's a market for Bacon products at the Airport Gift Shops so that Jihad-Ahmed will get the hint that he's about to die for absolutely nothing once the Pork hits the fan.
@ala-sux
Is that really the case in Israel?
Kim Hartveld :
Yes , in fact shortly after the Bus bombings
the Transit Authority tried stringing up packs of Pork near the enterence in hope it repelled Jihadists like garlic to vampires.
Some people even told the media that they would keep a small pack of vacuum sealed pork on them and force the Suicide bomber to take the risk with not knowing if a bus has bacon or pork on it , the sealed plastic pork is not a violation for jews and this new defence method
works far better than a Dog that alerts the Bomber to pull the Pin early.
A google search for pre-2003 bus bombings in Israel should pull up media reports about the bacon or pork stories ,anyone that absorbed into the Quranic teachings of murdering for Allah will be well versed in the sin of touching Pork as a Muslim.
I'm Israeli and I assure you that this "bacon in the pocket" story is a hoax. It's just a ridiculous myth and nothing more.
I'm praying five times a day to Allah - arse in air - that the Aussies will make good on their threat.

The Truth About Islam
Syndic Nuruodo-
And I heard that the pork with build into the walls of all newer buses to guarantee maximum Islamic jihadist innundation, contamination and desecration.
And why should I try to dissuade them of the idea?
...ban muslim immigration...plain and simple...
As an Australian, I say: yes, ban headscarves at airports. There are too many cases of burqa using terrorists on record, and plenty of cases of false passport use by female Pakistani residents of the UK too.
Keep the rule simple: if you want to enter an airport, the full head must be visible. The same rule should apply in banks.
I just hope the liberal party gets re-elected on November 24 as we can be satisfied Labor wont follow through on such a policy
Keep the rule simple: if you want to enter an airport, the full head must be visible. The same rule should apply in banks.
I take it you'd apply this rule to nuns wearing wimples, and to Indian women wearing saris? And if not, how would you craft a rule that would distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable head coverings? And what would you do if Mohammedan women started wearing head coverings that looked like saris (as I suspect a lot of them in India and Pakistan already do)?
