From personal experience this doesn't always help. If people use a laptop and wi-fi they just piggy-back of someone else's IP.
The cops don't even bother to find stolen laptops here - about 1000 per week. The ISP's have to be almost tortured to reveal anything.
But one thing I am sure of:

Makes me think of the old adage: "still waters run deep" and Mr. Spencer, who is soft spoken but self-assured, always calm and collected even in the face of seething hostility. I don't know how he maintains his unflappable demeanor, an enviable quality. Beneath his humble, affable, and gentle persona lie great character and strength, imperatives for the daunting challenge of exposing and defeating islamic jihad. I'm not sure what message this e-mail was meant to convey but it was obviously a threat, and why? Why do muslims threaten him for revealing the exploits of jihadists, heroes of the islamic world? They should thank him for the publicity. The truth about islam cannot be concealed from non-muslims, although there are plenty who have no interest in knowing the truth. Those who want to know will learn, and not necessarily here.
Money is great but there are some things it cannot buy. The true nature of islam is laid bare when muslims threaten non-muslims for the simple act of revealing islamic doctrine. If a muslim ran this website as a pro-jihad venue, muslims would love it. They would celebrate every article about jihad and dhimmitude as islamic victories and would agree with every explanation of the qur'an and hadith. But they are incensed when a non-muslim presents the same interpretations and explanations that respected islamic scholars throughout the world have declared accurate and valid, and are preached in mosques everywhere. Why is that?
I'm so sick of the pretension, taqiyya, whining, backstabbing, lies and deceit that are part and parcel of the muslim ethos. Anonymous threats from disgruntled muslim cowards are so typical of that pathetic ethos borne of inferiority and psychotic islamic dogma. Instead of making threats and seething with resentment and envy because they can't catch up with the rest of the world, muslims should examine the reasons for the illiteracy, poverty, tyranny, and overall desolation of the islamic world. But they prefer a useless existence of grovelling to allah, procreating, plotting the West's destruction, and conquering the world.
Mr. Spencer will not be silenced by "deep pockets", threats, defamation of character, or any other obstacles designed to intimidate him and the truth will prevail, like it or not.
We must end the Oil Age in order to destroy our Islamic enemies. GW Bush should have spent 1 Trillion dollars on that goal rather than his stupidly planned war.
If Saudi Arabia did not have oil wealth they would have nothing to spread their poisonous hatred around the world.
