Now this is what we need to see: a dhimmi alliance.
"Pope attacks Iran at Jewish Congress," by Ruth Gledhill for the Times (thanks to Fjordman):
The Pope hit out at Iran as he pledged to help world Jewish leaders in their fight against anti-Semitism.Pope Benedict XVI told leaders of the World Jewish Congress that Iran was “an issue of big concern” to him.
At a meeting at the Vatican, the Pope spoke of his concern about rising anti-Semitism and described how he wanted to use educational tools to counter the hatred of the Iranian leadership towards the Jewish people and Israel.
Maram Stern, secretary general of the World Jewish Congress, said after the audience: “We thanked the Holy Father for everything he did for the Jewish people, and more importantly what he will do.”
Speaking to journalists in Rome, he said the Pope had “recognised the question of Iran as an issue of big concern for him.”
Members of the congress discussed the critical problem of “resurgent anti-Semitism” in Europe. Britain itself has seen a marked rise in anti-Semitism, linked to increasing anti-Zionism and to events in the Middle East.
In a statement after the audience, the congress said members of the delegation “called on the Pontiff to take action against those in the Church who wanted to do damage to the close and positive relationship between Christians and Jews”....
...geee...just imagine if this guy had a capable military.....
...And some ignoramus said that the Pope is "irrelevant"...
I liked Pope John Paul II although I wish he hadn't kissed the Qur'an. I really like the way Pope Benedict XVI does not shy away from speaking the truth about Islam. We need more world leaders with his courage.
I agree, time for the rest of the world leaders to wake from their slumber recognize the evil that is upon us.
And this Pope truly knows what evil is, after all he grew up in the shadow of nazi germany.
I think the Vatican needs to get this memo out to thier employees.
There are quite a few people wearing the 'collar' that would disagree with the Pope, and are pushing Islam.
You would even think that the Pope would get around to kicking out all of the Muslim Iman Ambassadors out of the Vatican. There are alot of them.
Oh dear. It's Friday tomorrow and we know what that means.
Time for rage boy!
For a former Hitler Youth member and former soldier in the Nazi German infantry, Pope Benedict is taking a big step forward to be making allegiances with the Jews today. Let's hope this effort moves forward.
Once again, I find myself admiring Pope Benedict's words and actions. This is something that needs to be said and done. You go, Benedict.

Apparently you know very little about WWII history, particularly that of Nazi Germany.
All young Germans were required to enroll in Hitler's Youth whether they wanted to or not. Often those who resisted were persecuted or even worse, whisked away in the middle of the night, never to be seen again.
Secondly, Joseph Ratzinger was never a member of the Nazi Party. Your erroneous association of "Nazi" with "German Infantry" demonstrates that you fail to realize that not all Nazis were German soldiers, and not all German soldiers were Nazis. The Nazis were a political party, and indeed, Joseph Ratzinger's father was a vocal opponent to Naziism and the family had to move often in order to escape persecution.
When Joseph was forced to join the Army, he often was "sick" and spent much time in the infirmarary. Later, at the first chance he had, he deserted and returned home at the end of the war.
So, before you open your trap and proclaim to the world your ignorance, maybe you should do a little bit of research. It might save you some embarassment.
Greetings:
A) I wonder if Pope Benedict cc'd President Bush on this.
B) What about the anti-Christianism?
"Britain itself has seen a marked rise in anti-Semitism"
I hear this often but never with the notion that Muslim immigration could possibly have anything to do with it.
If you drew a graph there will almost certainly be a comparison to the rise in anti-semitic incidents and the increase in the Muslim population.
I'm also sure there are many other graphs you could draw and compare them with Muslim immigration.
The more Benedict XVI speaks the more I become convinced that he is the great hope for saving Western Civilization.
Now if they could only "call Muslims home" to either Judaism or Christianity, the scourge of Mohammad's retrograde heresy might have a good chance of being reversed in this century.

We must pray for Benedict. When he was elected, he did not want this. He knew what lay ahead. That's why they call the room in which he puts on his papal vestments for the first time the Room of Tears.
atheling -
I will not comment on the idea that "all" German kids were required to join, I just don't know if that is a true statement - the term "all" is difficult to prove.
I will comment on your differentiation of the German infantry and and a Nazi - for all intents and purposes, when it came to slaughtering innocents, they were one and the same. Indeed, much of the slaughter of was carried out by everyday Germans - the ones after the war claiming to know nothing of the dead bodies and crematoriums down the road.
Cheers
Visiting,
Atheling is absolutely correct in his historical facts. Not only was Ratzinger's father, Joseph Ratzinger Sr. a vocal anti-Nazi, but he suffered financially for it. In 1937, the senior Ratzinger was forced into early "retirement" from the police and went to live in Traunstein, a small Bavarian district town. Although retired, even late into World War II, most sources agree that Joseph Ratzinger, Sr. remained sternly anti-Nazi.
As for the pope, all German teenagers were inducted in the Hitler Youth without exception, just as all Russian teenagers were forced to become Young Pioneers. That's the nature of an education system in a totalitarian country. In Germany, membership in the Hitler Youth was legally required after December 1939. It was then that the 12-year-old Ratzinger should have been inducted, but he somehow managed to delay his entrance until 1941 when he was fourteen.
At 16, Ratzinger was drafted but claimed illness to keep from serving. As soon as possible he deserted. Not only that, his father offered to help the US and American troops established their headquarters in the Ratzinger household. There is absolutely no Nazi stigma on any of the Ratzinger family.
"I will comment on your differentiation of the German infantry and and a Nazi - for all intents and purposes, when it came to slaughtering innocents, they were one and the same."
--------------------------
Joseph Ratzinger never served at any front and never fired a weapon in battle. He built walls and carried sandbags for anti-aircraft placements. Rememeber, he was only sixteen!
----
"claiming to know nothing of the dead bodies and crematoriums down the road."
---------------------------
The teenage Ratzinger spent the entire war around his small town in Bavaria. There were no death camps "down the road" from where he was. The closest concentration camp, Flossenbürg near the Czech border, was well over a hundred miles away.
I agree wholeheartedly. I've been reading his published works and have passed them along to my local priest. He actually read them and is taking them along on his upcoming trip to Europe. He is the right man for our time, no doubt.
Please people, don't get cynical or overwhelmed by the enormity of threat. We face huge challenges, but we have good people in the world and they are making the difference. Never give up - we have the facts on our side. But we'll have to pay a price. Look at history... what is going on is the same shit different day. It's our turn, that's all.
I used to say the Our Father and didn't think much of 'but deliver us from evil' but now I understand better what that could mean.
I was looking for information on the film Farewell Isreal and stumbled accross this.

For a former Hitler Youth member and former soldier in the Nazi German infantry,
With a backhanded compliment like that who needs criticism???
Read some of the posts on this thread regarding the Hitler Youth, after he was elected pope the anti-Catholic press did their best to make this an issue.
As usual regarding Pope Benedict, they didn't let the facts get in their way....
WOW, what a turn around... hasn't the Catholic church been against Israel all the way through..
Wasn't it the Catholic church which helped the SS escape, and many of the SS were Muslims killing Jews.....hmmm. I hope this pope is genuine, or is it a stunt... I have often wondered who the man who signs the Peace treaty in the Middle East will be, which after a time of peace will bringing about 3½ years of hell that no man has ever seen before..
Gaye:
What garbage have you been reading? Or is this hateful tripe you heard by your Protestant minister? Perhaps this is anti Catholic bigotry you grew up with and never bothered to investigate for yourself?
Sigh.
