Saudis launch official fatwa website!

"The move is apparently an attempt to ensure that fatwas issued by authorised scholars are given prominence." Yes, no more crackpottery, eh wot? The site will feature rulings from the late Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz, whose fair and responsible rulings have gained him worldwide posthumous respect.

Witness this Toronto Muslim website (thanks to Kathy Shaidle) which reproduces the great Sheikh's ruling on this question: "Is it allowed for a father to force his daughter to marry a specific man that she does not want to mary [sic]?" Sheikh bin Baz responds:

...The father must seek her permission if she is nine years of age or above. Similarly, her other guardians may not marry her off except by her permission. This is obligatory upon all of them. If one is married without permission, then the marriage is not valid. This is because one of the conditions of the marriage is that both partners accept the marriage. If she is married without her permission, by threat or coercion, then the marriage is not valid. The only exception is in the case of the father and his daughter who is less than nine years of age. There is no harm if he gets her married while she is less than nine years old, according to the correct opinion. This is based on the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) marrying Aisha without her consent when she was less than nine years old, as is stated in authentic Hadith. However, if she is nine years old or more, she cannot be married, even by her father, except with her consent....

Wait a minute. I thought only venomous Islamophobes believed that Aisha was six when Muhammad married her and nine when he consummated the marriage. Is the House of Saud aware that it is featuring an Islamophobe on its fatwa website?

"Official Saudi website for fatwas," from the BBC (thanks to all who sent this in):

Saudi Arabia has launched an official website to publish Islamic legal rulings, or fatwas.

The move is apparently an attempt to ensure that fatwas issued by authorised scholars are given prominence.

Visitors to the new website will be able to ask questions on various topics and get replies from the Council of Senior Ulema (Islamic scholars).

Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy governed according to a conservative interpretation of Islamic Sharia law.

'Fatwa chaos'

A section of the Saudi site is devoted to the former head of the council, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz.

Sheikh bin Baz, who died in 1999, was known for issuing controversial religious rulings.

In 1991, he issued a fatwa prohibiting women from driving cars.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Bag was clearly a star.

I want a virtual version that we can ask questions to and he can spout his wisdom back.

A bit like Max Headroom from the 1980's but the graphics should be better now.

"This is based on the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) marrying Aisha without her consent when she was less than nine years old."

And they want to kill people for insulting that dirty old man (PBUH).

The whole thing is like having some professional board of standards for psychics. There's nothing like professionalism when it comes to standards and ethics. "Psychic Board Approved".

Lift a rock and it exposes a lot of worms.

Jolly good to see and have exposed the venemous and foolish pronouncements of this dated ideology.

This poster too: Ban muslim immigration and start returning those who are here.

It offends one that this is the ideology that is welcomed and defended by the 'liberals', leftists, socialists and fifth column idiots and scum in the West.

(and spare me the nonsense that 'Jesus was a socialist' - he was the furthest from state ownership or control (or government) as one could be. And 'zionism' is not socialism, although historically and to date many of the early zionists were probably also socialists, - but also free marketeers and capitalists)

When the consensus in the West recognizes the danger from islam and what must be done about it, that vicious and sinister and evil ideology will be defeated.

It's not every day that your enemy hands you his own personally hand-tied, authentic and official "noose" by which to hang him repeatedly. Hand 'em high, Robert!

I'm waiting for the Fatwa Against Issuing Fatwas.

Then watch them implode.

Since only Allah can issue fatwas, this is a usurpation of his right.

And all who do it are anti-Allah blasphemers.

And how does a good muslima give her permission? By being silent.

Excellent, now there will be a central location where we dirty infidels can browse these opinions and learn just how much idiocy pervades Islam.
A sample of some questions from other sites:

Can I lay on my stomach?
Can I touch my wife's ______ ?
Can I eat standing up?
Can I eat sitting down?
Can I work in a bank?
Can I brush my teeth during Ramadadan?
If I pass gas is my wudu invaild?

Ad nauseum

Pelayo-

The Answers are:

No.
NO!
No.
No.
No.
No.

And

Yes.

From Imam FatwaHead.

The two main mantras of Islam are 'God is great/greater', and 'Thank god for little girls'.
There are lots of people who like em young even to the point of perversion, but there is only one 'religion' I know of where pedophilia is sanctified by religious thought and opinion. Islam, where the thoughts and opinions are derived from the Quran and hadith. They emerge as sharia law, and various rulings by highly placed muslims, and various schools of jurisprudence. That entire area of Islamic law/thought is nothing more than permission for dirty old men to play with little girls.
Dirty, lecherous old men, are nothing unusual, history is full of them, but pedophilia, sanctioned by religion, is unusual, and cruel. One high profile Ayatollah wrote a book in part advocating sex with infants, as long as one does it correctly, sex with animals is OK in some Islamic circles as well.
Islam is more complex than being 'just' a sex and violence cult, but sex and violence are integral parts of the cults structure...

An example of the slimy questions asked of this Magic Eight Ball:

"Here in one of the western countries they give a monthly allowance to everyone who comes and seeks to settle here. They say to everyone who applies: If you find work, you must tell us, so that we can stop the monthly allowance and you will have just the salary from your work. They take 30% in taxes from salaries. Is it permissible to avoid the taxes by not telling them that I have found work, thus getting both the monthly allowance and a salary?"

The answer was a firm "NO", by the way.

Profitsbeard, have you seen this:

http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2005/01/ask_the_other_i.html

So, according to Profitsbeard (aka Imam Fatwahead)I canot eat sitting down or standing up, should I eat lying down?

That question about passing gas was actually asked by some confused Muslim concerning silent farts.

My own slimy question was about having sex with infants. I couldn't help myself--this picture is so disturbing, it makes me ill. I want to know where the Ayatolla of Iran came by this idea, and what ahadith back it, and where it is found in the Qur'an.

Pelayo,

It was a trick answer. During Ramadan, you can't eat, at all, during the day, at least.

The "Other Imam" site is a scream, by the way.
Thanks for the laugh!

Your list doesn't include the most important defender of islam in the West. That would be your man; y'know, the one whose war you're constantly defending. and make no mistake about it: bush unquestionably IS islam's biggest defender in the West. oh, i don't mean to suggest that he has embraced that ideology. but since he is the de facto leader of the Free World, his ikhfar (sp?) dinners & nonsense about islam being a religion of peace make him islam's biggest defender.

Abscedere, the question I was remembering was not about eating during Ramadan. I could not find the question I saw so many months ago, but I did find this answer to a general question about etiquette (as if Muslims have any).

http://islamqa.com/index.php?ref=13348&ln=eng&txt=eating

Not reclining whilst eating. That is because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I do not eat whilst I am reclining.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5399). The scholars differed as to what reclining meant. Ibn Hajar said: The scholars differed as to what reclining meant. It was said that it means being too comfortable in sitting to eat in whatever manner; or that it meant leaning on one side; or that it meant resting with one’s left arm on the ground… Ibn ‘Adiyy narrated with a da’eef (weak) isnaad that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) rebuked a man for resting on his left arm when eating. Maalik said, this is a kind of reclining. I say, this indicates that Maalik regarded as makrooh everything that may be counted as reclining whilst eating, and he did not mention any one specific type thereof.

As one can see, Muslims are driven by the actions of the Prophet(MHRIH) that include everything from eating to copulating.

This new Saudi site should be a wonderful resource.

Don’t get so exited my friends.

Remember not to cherry pick out of the fatwa!

That small little truth about being married off as a child under nine?? Skip it.

CAIR and the rest of the “moderates” will skip right over that (like they skip over “Who are innocent civilian in Israel” question) and say;

. ."The father must seek her permission".

"If she is married without her permission
by threat or coercion, then the marriage is not valid."
and;
"Muslims don't believe in killing innocent civilians"

They will never allow these words it to be said;

” The only exception is under nine years old”
Or
“There are no innocent civilians in Israel”.

Half truths are the lies of ISLAM.

I can only hope that the Saudi fatwa website will be available in English and other languages, so that everyone can appreciate the wisdom of Islam.

Muslims have several things in their favor in their endeavour to infiltrate our societies, such as the unearned flood of petrodollars, and the political correctness and religious tolerance of the West. But they also have one major problem working against them: the beliefs of mainstream Islam.

After reading Islamic rules governing Male/Female relationships at the Toronto Muslim website, it's little wonder to me that homosexuality is so rampant in the Islamic world.

Bared from having a normal, natural relationshp with the opposite sex, what do young Muslim men have left except one another.

Islam doesn't promote virtue with its obsession with putting Females out of reach of Young Males, it destroys virtue -- as with so may other things it teaches.

That website is nothing more than "Sex for Muslims".

Got to remember that in Islam there is no Vatican like there is in the Roman Catholic Church, or a Patrarch like there is in the Orthodox Church. Things in Islam is a loose confederation so it is not suprising that this website was set up by the Saudis to make themselves look good as well as for brownie points.

guru,

When it comes to anti-terrorism websites, this is one of the best websites there is. Sure there are folks who spout stuff that is close to nonsense, but ignore them and let them VENT out. Also too this website has postings of information about jihadi violence going on in the world today that is a good tool in this peaceful fight against Islamofacism and the dangers that it poses. Besides Robert Spencer is what I consider to be the 21st century version of Bernard Lewis on the subject of Islam and jihadi violence. Consider this to be a teaching moment.

It would actually be rather amusing to see Saudi Arabia and Iran jockeying to see who has more influence spreading their specific versions of the odious "Religion of Peace" if so many were not suffering by it.

I certainly agree. And yet many (certainly not all) conservatives have also been useful idiots, touting Islam's "traditional values" as an antidote to rampant license in the West. I doubt many conservatives would really embrace these "values" if they really understood what they entailed. Same with liberals.

So many polititians and pundits are so intent on each other that many have failed to notice the threat from Islam--even now!--and just want to use aspects of it to tweak their political opponents here in the West.

Hi Bootyman,
You're right about Bush in this area and it is a shame. He aint perfect and he does have a few failings. But he's far better than anything the libs commies and crackpots could have put up.
Every day in Iraq an average of 50 jihadis eat dust of some kind.
We will win despite this failing on Bush's part. Those petrodollars will corrupt and influence. Look at Jimmy Catta. Or that slimeball Clinton.
Dont think we'll get fooled again.

And considering that her father has the right to beat her or even kill her if she pisses him off sufficiently, it is deeply reassuring to know that he has to ask her permission to marry her off.

Jeez! What a bunch of impudent phonies!

And Allah taught Adam all the names as follows: He taught him the name of everything, down to fart and little fart.
-- Tabari I:267

....More wisdom from islam....

interestinconundrum-

"little fart" is actually a good name for Mohammad.

Thanks.

RE: the "in what position can I eat" Fatwa.

Imam Fatwa Head was trying to advise no eating at all for people so insecure that they have to ask someone else such moronic queries.

The Darwinian diet, so to speak.

It's Award Winning.

I think bush has no other options than to proclaim islam is peace. He has really invested billions of dollers and thousands of us lives in iraq and afghanistan. all he needs to say is that islam is evil and suddenly everything is at risk. Including the precious saudi and other arab oil. same with the next us president. it's all up to us , the general public, to make sure only strong anti dhimmis get into government, and to educate the population of the evils of islam.

I'll believe that they're setting up an "Official Fatwa" site when I see it. I scoured the gov.sa site over the last day and didn't find much of that sort of thing, though there's plenty of useful information there.

However, I did find that the Riyadh city site hosted there does have a good number of prominently posted Fatawa, which we may take, I guess as "officially sanctioned". I believe these fatawa are pulled from the islamqa.com (to which they link).

Their current "Featured Fatwa" is titled There is no compulsion to accept Islam .

It's a lovely read, quite informative about what, exactly their idea about "no compulsion" actually means. I do believe they mean this quite sincerely, and do not see the irony in how they work it out. I believe it is religiously-induced schitzophrenia: there is no other clear explanation (yes, I know might say "taqqiya", but I don't think this is true in this case; I think they genuinely think that this title is an apt description of what follows in the fatwa!)

And what, exactly do they mean by "no compulsion"? Read the whole thing yourself, but in summary:

1. This "no compulsion" business is only for Jews and Christians, and Zoroastrians. Everybody else should be forced to convert or killed.

2. #1 is only the opinion of SOME scholars. The other scholars believe that 2:256 has been abrogated by 9:5, the verse of the sword, etc. Lots of humming and hawing here...their conclusion: the truth may lie somewhere between "force everyone except Jews and Christians" and "force everyone".

3. Oh yes, Jews and Christians are only allowed to remain non-muslims and unmolested if they pay the Jizya and live under Sharia law. I guess this isn't considered "molestation".

See, like they said ... No Compulsion! :-)

Why do they keep misspelling fatwad?
(/sarc)

So, in other words, the saudis are telling the world that paedophilia is an accepted islamic practice, as stated by Sheikh bin Baz, following the example set out my mohammed.

If the BBC and other media organisations don't highlight this aspect they are as guilty of child abuse as the animals who carry out the abuse. I always thought PC meant political correctness in the BBC, now I understand they mean paedophile correctness.
