Gives me haunting memories of the 1972 Munich olympics. Good Lord, I remember the images from Munich. I was 7 years old. We were on vacation when it happened. I recall very well how upset my folks were.
I personally know young people and their families who will likely be there in 2012 for the paralympic competition. I fear for them. The more I see of these things happening, the happier I am that getting to the olympics hasn't worked out for our daughter (BK amp runner). As a parent it saddens me to say that- but placing myself and my family among that sort of crowd totally unarmed goes against the vows I've taken to protect them.

I pray the English squash this idea. I pray even harder that they adopt a more sensible way of confronting the threat they face.

Has anyone else noticed a change in the tone of these reports?

A couple of years ago an article like this was written like a sales pitch, full of chirpy and self-congratulary phrases about our vibrantly diverse culture.

Today it seems more like a dire warning. Terse, factual and disturbing paragraphs with little comment. Almost as if the reporter is begging us to read between the lines; "Join the dots! Please join the dots! I can't be more explicit, it wouldn't be PC - or even safe."

It's not just the right-wing Daily Mail. There is a similar change of tone on NPR and even dear old Auntie Beeb.

I noticed the difference in MSM reporting earlier this year, right around the time that Bush and Blair started talking about the enemy being an evil ideology. It's almost like the word went out. Many posters have commented that 'people are waking up'.

To me it appears that the strategy may have changed. The powers-that-be, as their awareness has grown, have been trying to 'keep a lid' on the growing threat in order to avoid panic and/or a 'backlash'. It's as if they have now realised the futility of this effort and are hoping to educate the population slowly enough to keep control of the situation.

Labour's favourite thinktank yesterday named the migrant groups which are a drain on the taxpayer.

Immigrants from Somalia, Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Iran are most likely to be out of work and claiming state benefits, it said.

There tend to be high numbers of asylum seekers among those groups who have failed to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Britain's open economy, a study found.

But immigrants from many countries do better than people born in the UK in terms of the proportion who work, their level of earnings and the school performance of their children.

The report was produced by the Institute for Public Policy Research, which has close links to Downing Street.

The institute has always in the past been supportive of Government immigration policy and its work has focused on the benefits rather than the downside of largescale migration.

The report's results, which are based on an analysis of government figures, were produced for a Dispatches programme called Immigrants: The Inconvenient Truth. It is being broadcast on Channel 4 at 8pm this evening.

They figures show that Somalis in Britain are the worst- off migrant group. Fewer than one in five has a job and four out of five live in subsidised council or housing association homes.

The report also confirms the widespread perception that Polish-immigrants work hard for less money than most British-born workers would accept.

Australians are the only nationality in Britain more likely to have a job than the Poles.

In the hours they work Poles are second only to the notoriously workaholic Americans. However, Poles earn on average the lowest hourly wage, £7.30.

The institute report said: 'There are some immigrant communities who rank consistently lower on most indicators than the UK average.

"In some cases, these relatively lowranking communities are predominantly made up of people who have come to the UK for non-economic reasons, for example to join family members who are already in the UK or to seek asylum.

"These communities may be made up of large numbers of people whose admission into the UK is not based on their potential economic contribution to the UK."

The report added: 'Some immigrant communities are clearly faring less well in the UK and are unable to contribute as much as others because of the poor socio-economic situations they find themselves in.

"Many in these groups are present in the UK because they are fleeing persecution and violence in their home countries and require our protection."

The institute's latest findings come in the wake of Whitehall's revision of the expected levels of future immigration to almost two million in the next decade and the declaration by a Home Office minister of 'the need for swift and sweeping changes to the immigration system'.

Gordon Brown has spoken of 'British jobs for British workers' and is bringing in a points-based immigration system, which will give priority to those with education, skills and high earnings.

The institute report said almost all migrant groups have children who spend longer in the education system than the children of British-born parents.

But some migrant groups have failed to turn educational success into economic success. Groups whose children have not done well in school include Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Turks and Somalis.

Indian, Chinese, Filipino, Sri Lankan and Iranian children all do better than average in school, the report said.

State statistics over the past 15 years have identified recent migrant groups who have done best in economic and education terms.

Generally speaking, Asians who came from East Africa in the 1970s and Chinese are counted the most successful, followed by Indians.

Some groups do better than others. For example, black Caribbean girls do well in school and earn more on average than white counterparts, while black Caribbean boys are more likely to fail.

As for Pakistan...I'm pretty sure that the government of Pakistan did not execute Daniel Pearl. I'm pretty sure that some terrorist admitted to, hell, bragged about doing it.

A female Tory Muslim (a rare beast) at her party's annual conference (possibly their last before the next election) has stirred things up a little here by daring to say that BNP voters had "some very legitimate views on race and crime".

She said: "They have some very legitimate views - people who say, 'We are concerned about crime and justice in our communities, we are concerned about immigration in our communities.'"

Labour minister Phil Woolas warned: "You have to acknowledge the fears that people have that make them vote for the BNP. But effectively to endorse the BNP's views is shocking."

This is the kind of la-la land we are living in, where what would once upon a time have been basic common sense is now "shocking".

I've been saying all along that people need to have more children. Four children. Not two or one or none.

I've been pooh-poohed each time I've posted it. Several magazines and TV commentators have said it and each time some professor comes along and says there are too many people and we're damaging the earth. Well, which is it?

Regardless of how large or small our population is, we NEED to educate our own. It is in our countries, all countries, interest to educate their own. Just look at the doctors in Glasgow.

The third world countries are using modern technology so that all of their children usually survive. That is why Pakistan's and Gaza's populations are exploding. (No pun intended) So they are exporting their excesses. With modern technology comes modern responsibility, except for them. The dogooders just can't seem to see it.

Stop muslim immigration. Let them deal with their own population overgrowth.

Our governments don't want our countries to shrink. Population is power. Our governments need to beat the population drum in a positive way. Ezekiel was called to the prophetic ministry in 593 B.C. During the first part of his ministry, Ezekiel proclaimed essentially the same message given by the prophet Jeremiah---Jerusalem is doomed to destruction. The sinfullness and idolatry prevailing in Jerusalem will result in God's abandoning the temple, as well as Jerusalem---with judgement to follow.

After the news reached Babalon that Jerusalem actually had been destroyed in 586 B.C., Ezekiel proclaimed a new message of hope and restoration. God as the great Shepherd will regather the Israelites from the ends of the earth and reestablish them in their own land. (Which He has done). The nations that will challenge Israel's return will be defeated and judged.

It was the Arab hoards some 2000 years before Mohammad that destroyed Jerusalem because God's hand of protection had been removed because of idol worship. Ezekiel saw all this in a vision from the lord.

Just repeating what I said above - I'm totally serious when I suggest that on Guy Fawkes Day - 'please to remember the fifth of November/ gunpowder, treason and plot/ there is no reason/ why gunpowder treason/ should ever be forgot' - those in Britain who are concerned about the threat of Islam should not make great big bonfires and burn turbanned effigies of Mohammed or Bin Laden or Ahmadinejad right alongside, or in place of, the usual Guy.

Make sure that the gathering includes non-white non-Muslims such as Hindu and Sikh immigrant families, or Afro-Caribbean Christians, and Jewish families if there are such in your neighbourhood.

After the burning, have somebody cool, calm and collected quietly reading a couple of relevant texts - e.g. the inflammatory stuff from Maududi or Qutb about how Muslims are supposed to flout Infidel law and how all Infidel sovereignties are illegitimate and must be overthrown by Muslims by any and all means necessary. Oh, and you could finish off with a final act of defiance: singing God Save the Queen and drinking the Royal Toast. Video the whole thing and post on the Web (if people were worried about their safety the film needn't show faces).
