UK: Muslim medical students are refusing to attend lectures or answer exam questions on alcohol-related or sexually transmitted diseases because they claim it offends their religious beliefs

Sharia Alert: a glimpse into the future for Britain and Europe, unless things change drastically. Apparently these medical students don't intend to treat anyone but observant Muslims. "Muslim medical students get picky," by Daniel Foggo and Abul Taher in the Times Online (thanks to Magnus):

Some Muslim medical students are refusing to attend lectures or answer exam questions on alcohol-related or sexually transmitted diseases because they claim it offends their religious beliefs.

Some trainee doctors say learning to treat the diseases conflicts with their faith, which states that Muslims should not drink alcohol and rejects sexual promiscuity.

A small number of Muslim medical students have even refused to treat patients of the opposite sex. One male student was prepared to fail his final exams rather than carry out a basic examination of a female patient.

The religious objections by students have been confirmed by the British Medical Association (BMA) and General Medical Council (GMC), which both stressed that they did not approve of such actions.

It will intensify the debate sparked last week by the disclosure that Sainsbury’s is permitting Muslim checkout operators to refuse to handle customers’ alcohol purchases on religious grounds. It means other members of staff have to be called over to scan in wine and beer for them at the till.

Critics, including many Islamic scholars, see the concessions as a step too far, and say Muslims are reneging on their professional responsibilities.

This weekend, however, it emerged that Sainsbury’s is also allowing its Muslim pharmacists to refuse to sell the morning-after pill to customers. At a Sainsbury’s store in Nottingham, a pharmacist named Ahmed declined to provide the pill to a female reporter posing as a customer. A colleague explained to her that Ahmed did not sell the pill for “ethical reasons”. Boots also permits pharmacists to refuse to sell the pill on ethical grounds.

The BMA said it had received reports of Muslim students who did not want to learn anything about alcohol or the effects of overconsumption. “They are so opposed to the consumption of it they don’t want to learn anything about it,” said a spokesman.

I have more often than not shopped at Sainsbury's and Boots but not anymore. If someone refuses to do the job they are getting paid for isn't the usual response dismissal? Or at the very least they should face disciplinary action. Why change the job description to please the personal beliefs?

As far as the trainee doctors are concerned; this raises serious issues with their suitability for the job they are training for. If they are unwilling to treat certain patients (because of what they believe - which in itself raises questions regarding their state of mind) then I believe they cannot live up to their oath they are required to take and in that case should be struck off the medical register. Can you imagine a Christian doctor refusing to treat a homosexual? If they did can you imagine the repercussions in the national media?

I’m quite annoyed about this, especially how these companies allow them to get away with these actions too.

And four 'wives' at a time and unlimited concubines doesn't constitute 'sexual promiscuity' (above)?

Oh, I forgot. That's how they guard their 'chastity.'

The Hippocratic Oath appears to have an elastic history . . .yielding language to reflect modern medicine.

. . .in the UK the doctors adhere to a "Duties of a Doctor" and "Good Medical Practices" statement. Most Medical schools in the U.S. and Canada require some form of statement with respect to ethics (to which doctors are expected to adhere). (the phrase "shall do no harm" btw isn't actually contained in the original Hippocratic Oath). - Posted by: J.S. at July 4, 2007 5:20 PM

This is just one example of that elacticity of that oath - from Cornell:

June 22, 2005 From antiquity to eternity: Revised Hippocratic Oath resonates with graduates By Melissa Hantman NEW YORK -- Revisiting a hallowed ritual for doctors, a committee within the Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) convened this spring to craft an updated Hippocratic Oath, one that responds to the state of modern medicine. Originally composed in ancient Greece, the oath expresses principles still fundamental to the practice of medicine today. Over the years, it has become an emotional rite of passage in medical school graduations across the world. On June 1, the college's new oath was unveiled at Commencement ceremonies for the WCMC and Graduate School of Medical Sciences. After Antonio M. Gotto Jr., dean of WCMC, administered the oath to the graduates, he invited the medical faculty and other physicians present to stand and recommit themselves to the oath's principles by raising their right hands. (The oath is at the end of this story.)

"With this gesture," Gotto said, "we will join our new colleagues in affirming the values that guide both our work and our lives."

The original Hippocratic Oath has been revised many times to reflect changes in medical practice, historically by individuals or professional associations. The new Weill Cornell oath is unusual because it represents a single institution's effort. Comprising faculty from both Weill Cornell campuses in New York City and Doha, Qatar, the 20-member Dean's Committee on the Hippocratic Oath included two senior associate deans, two associate deans, two student leaders and three department chairs. At Gotto's request, this representative committee was headed by Joseph J. Fins, chief of the Division of Medical Ethics and professor of medicine, public health and medicine in psychiatry.

The committee members took a scholarly, systematic and inclusive approach, enriching their knowledge with background reading and categorizing the key elements of earlier medical oaths, including the classical Hippocratic Oath; a well-known 1964 revision by Louis Lasagna; the Oath of Maimonides, a medieval Jewish philosopher; and an oath for Muslim physicians.

In addition to content, the committee examined the language of the oath. "We wanted to be respectful of the diversity of perspectives on faith and belief," explained Fins, "and to be mindful that there are a number of ways to express personal commitment." With this in mind, the members chose to replace phrases that have a religious connotation with more ecumenical expressions, such as changing "I swear" to the more secular "I vow."

The revised oath ends on a more positive note than the classical version, which threatens retribution for any doctor who transgresses the oath and swears falsely. Revised, it reads: "I now turn to my calling, promising to preserve its finest traditions, with the reward of a long experience in the joy of healing." It concludes: "I make this vow freely and upon my honor," again underscoring personal responsibility as a guidepost in one's profession.

The committee also considered the history of medicine, the enduring principles of medical practice, and the profound social and scientific changes affecting the profession today.

New emphases in the revised oath address doctors' responsibilities and duties to serve as advocates for their patients, champion social justice for the sick and forge strong bonds throughout the healing process.

The oath reaffirms a "sacred trust" between doctors and patients, reminding doctors to "use their power wisely." It also fosters trust and respect within the profession by including a pledge to help sustain colleagues in their service to humanity. In a culture preoccupied with wealth and power, the oath serves as an antidote to professional arrogance, obligating doctors to practice humility and self-awareness, accept their limitations and pursue lifelong learning to better care for the sick and prevent illness.

"It was so invigorating to have a group of colleagues together, talking about these important issues and thinking deeply about why we're here and what we're doing," Fins said. "It helped reconnect us as a group, and I hope it will encourage our broader college community to recommit to the values embodied in the oath."

The committee first met in February 2005 to discuss the core values of the oath in the context of 21st-century medicine.

"Our goal was to preserve the enduring precepts and obligations of doctoring, but also to make the oath reflective of some of the current challenges that the health-care system faces today, trying to balance the old with the new," Fins said. "We had to express the core principles in a more modern way; otherwise it becomes platitudinous."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weill Cornell Medical College's Hippocratic Oath
I do solemnly vow, to that which I value and hold most dear:

That I will honor the Profession of Medicine, be just and generous to its members, and help sustain them in their service to humanity;

That just as I have learned from those who preceded me, so will I instruct those who follow me in the science and the art of medicine;

That I will recognize the limits of my knowledge and pursue lifelong learning to better care for the sick and to prevent illness;

That I will seek the counsel of others when they are more expert so as to fulfill my obligation to those who are entrusted to my care;

That I will not withdraw from my patients in their time of need;

That I will lead my life and practice my art with integrity and honor, using my power wisely;

That whatsoever I shall see or hear of the lives of my patients that is not fitting to be spoken, I will keep in confidence;

That into whatever house I shall enter, it shall be for the good of the sick;

That I will maintain this sacred trust, holding myself far aloof from wrong, from corrupting, from the tempting of others to vice;

That above all else I will serve the highest interests of my patients through the practice of my science and my art;

That I will be an advocate for patients in need and strive for justice in the care of the sick.

I now turn to my calling, promising to preserve its finest traditions, with the reward of a long experience in the joy of healing.

I make this vow freely and upon my honor.

We are all aware of what muhammedans value and hold most dear. . .the example of their beloved 'prophet' muhammad, an aggressive warrior who claimed that 'war is deception" - to devout followers, a model of the Perfect Man (uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil).

Nuts.

the british people should answer back with a massive boycott of all muslims, their place of business, dealing with them at work, and even refusing to speak with them in public.

but they wont, they are too passive and liberal. too many "nigel" types over there.

the muslims have effectively taken an entire nation without even launching a bloody invasion raid.

a thousand years of invasion free england, sabotaged within a 50 year period of apathy and extreme left wing political meddling.

why?

There is a problem with Muslim medical students in Europe.

There is also problem with Muslim doctors in Europe. Think of the story put up here the other day, about the dentist who told his female Muslim patients that they could get a discount if they put on the hijab. That was a dentist one of whose patients happened to complain. How many didn't complain? How many complied, or simply went elsewhere? And what about the Muslim doctors who let patients know that if they wear what such Muslim doctors think of as the whole Sharia'-shebang, the wahhabi-ready-to-wear ensemble, they will get a fantastic bargain, a special end-of-season sale, un presso stracciato, skidka neveroyatnaya. Step right up folks, put on the burqa, and see just how much you can save.

And there are reasons to wonder about the level of attention, the quality of care, that some Muslim doctors -- for whom Islam, and the attitudes that Islam naturally engenders, are paramount, and mean far more than any Hippocratic oath -- give to non-Muslim patients. There are already accusations that there may in some cases -- now percolating through the courts --- of a deliberate inattention leading to the death of a Jewish patient whose identity had been made clear to the attending Muslim physician. The suit has been brought by his son, himself a physician. Knowing what we know about what is in the Qur'an and the Hadith and Sira, about the proper attitude toward non-Muslims, and about the permanent state of war -- though not necessarily of open warfare -- between Believers and Infidels, why should be surprised?

And then there is a problem with Muslim patients. Doctors in Italy and elsewhere have complained about the Muslim males who insist upon coming in and being present at every meeting between "their women" and a male doctor, and also not allowing "their women" to speak, even through an interpreter, but only to have questions filtered through them or other menfolk. This makes every visit extremely complicated, especially when you also have an interpreter. Think it isn't going on in America or Canada? Think again. And the drain on the doctor, and the time wasted -- who is paying for that? You, because these are always patients on the dole. Have you been to any of the church-financed hospitals, St. Francis this or that? Look at the Muslim families, with the three or five or six kids in tow, using up the resources of the Christian charities everywhere in the Western world, but never for a moment abandoning their implacable hostility to those same Christians. Take a look the next time you have to accompany your own child, or the child of a friend, to one of those places, and see who is taking full advantage of them, and more, and whether that makes sense.

There are problems with Muslim patients. There are problems with Muslim doctors. And now there are even problems with Muslim medical students. No medical school should tolerate for one minute this kind of demand. Admission to medical school, to the medical schools of the advanced and far-too-tolerant West, is a great privilege. Let Muslim students go study medicine in their own splendid schools, with that wonderful heritage of Islamic science that they, and the karen-armstrongs of this world, simply cannot stop talking about.

Reading the comments from the mostly UK residents linked at the article above, I have to say I am impressed.

It would seem that the aggressive push of Muslims to establish some sort of parallel society alongside normal, everyday, non-Muslim Brits is seriously backfiring on them.

Dare I say that perhaps the paralyzingly politically correct Brits are awakening to the serious problem of Islam in their midst ??

The solution to the problem with student doctors who adopt these attitudes is very simple and should require no debate: Students who refuse to participate in the full curriculum get flunked out - end of controversy! When they are kicked out of school, kick them out of the country.

The solution is as obvious as bin Laden's nose.

A "Muslim doctor" is a contradiction in terms.

To minister to illnesses or injuries is against the will of Allah.

He sent the problems, and only he can address them.

They are opposing their deity.

Inshallah.

If upholding the Hippocratic oath (when was the last time it was rewritten for ANY reason, which appears to be where this is heading) is repugnant, let 'em work at McDonalds. What next? Refusing to treat a patient because they eat Jell-O, or pickled pigs feet? To Hell with them! If they don't want to "do what it takes" to get a medical degree, don't give them one. Screw 'em.

JenBee states:

There does appear to be an increase in serious examination as demonstrated in this recent UK series which begins to address the issue quite specifically by ethnicity, concluding that immigration problems are NOT skin deep. . .

And ends with the statement:

"My journey around Britain has raised some important questions. What are we going to do about immigrant groups such as the asylum seekers who arrive here with serious social problems? Let in fewer? Or let in none? Or tackle their problems in different and better ways? If some immigrant groups do badly, should we keep down the numbers that we let in or launch a new national discussion about how to improve their employment potential? Do we need to find a more effective way of giving help to areas like Boston which gets sudden influxes of new immigrants? And if some immigrant groups are so successful, should we encourage more of them? We have decades of experience of mass migration to Britain. But much of this time has been spent dealing with issues surounding race. Are we finally ready to move beyond that and start to deal with the economic effects of immigration, both positive and negative? We now know that immigrant groups are hugely different one from another. Talking about immigrants as a single group leads no where. People that come to this country with a good education, tend to succeed. People who come with problems, tend to fail and pass those failings on to their children. Unless we are prepared to accept these inconvenient truths, how can we act?"

JenBee

the article was written in the conservative "times" newspaper. it has a middle to upper class readership, it's a tory paper.
many of the young, middle class read the guardian, a liberal/socialist paper.
one thing that i have noticed which for me is an incredible transformation is channel 4's news. they were once a notorious anti establishment documentary style news station, always challenging the status quo with but a socialist slant. they are now at the forefront of the islamic jihad investigation. and have even been threatened to back off by the british police hierarchy. they are most certainly rocking the boat and the more liberals and "nigel" types they challange the better.

The headline on the website's front page is interesting:

"Muslim medical students get picky

"A minority of Muslim medical students are refusing to attend lectures on alcohol-related or sexually transmitted diseases"

-- Another tiny minority causing problems for the majority. Just how do they manage to do that so consistently, I wonder?

Greetings:

A) "Apparently these medical students don't intend to treat anyone
but observant Muslims."

And, this may be the good news.

This raises a whole host of issues. What if Muslim doctors decide that it is too taxing for them to treat patients during the Ramadan fast? What if the good Muslim doctor decides not to treat a young non-Muslim girl who has been gang raped by young Muslim men, assuming that she deserved her fate or not wanting to implicate the rapists, his fellow ROPers? What if a Muslim doctor, like some Muslim visitors, decides not to wash his hands between patients because of the alcohol content in the soap? And, on and on. The British Medical Society better draw up some firm guidelines and stick to them. This is scary stuff.

With future doctors like these muslim doctors who needs enemies. What are they afraid of?? The CLAP?

Wish I'd thought of this ploy when I was in junior high.

I hated the compulsory Home Ec. semester.

Actually this wouldn't be a problem if their teachers weren't a bunch of butt-kissing dhimmis.

Just flunk them out and tell them to go study medicine in Absurdistan and stay there.

Just wait until they close down the pubs and shot all the dogs, then the Brits will start to notice.

For those of us who do not want to be "treated" by Mohammedan doctors I have an idea in case of an emergency room visit. Pour a small amount of beer or white wine on yourself to ensure that you have that "bin drinkin" aroma. Call it a special bug repellant. However, It might complicate things when a real doctor is assigned to you.

There could be a market for a cologne like that. It could be called "Lost Weekend" or "Seeing Double" or "Bottoms Up."

One could also wear a t-shirt with a big beer logo on the front. An empty pint bottle of Jack D. in the hip pocket of one's jeans might also be effective.

I do not recommend wearing anything with one of those nice cartoons of the ole Prophet, the good doctor might amputate something that is important.

This reminds me. if any of you is buying alcahol or pork products, make sure you check out with a muslim cashier. specially devout looking ones.

This has to stop! Pretending that it is possible to be a fully functioning physisian while refusing to treat or even study basic human medical functions is absurd.

How many doctors have treated patients whom they disapproved of in one way or another?

There are doctors who have racial or gender biases, prejudices of all kinds--usually it does not matter--they treat the injury and illness, and keep any possible antipathy for the patient or his choices to themselves.

There are virtuous patients, certainly, whatever your definition of this may be. But then there are patients most medical personnel would dissaprove of--murderers, drunk drivers, child molesters, people who got themselves shot running from the police.

All receive medical treatment.

Even the morally repellant Glasgow Airport Jihad car bomber got treatment--damned expensive treatment at that--from the very people he wanted to murder.

Hugh wrote:

Sometimes it's even worse than the problems you cite. In the French banlieus, Muslim "youth" have at times prevented EMTs and ambulances from reaching certain injured people, or have followed ambulances to the hospital, thuggishly insisting that doctors treat their co-religionists first.

I suppose that these students are too ignorant to know that one doesn't have to be promiscuous to acquire a sexually transmitted disease (consider the case in which a person contracts HIV from a needle stick or transfusion, then transmits it to his or her spouse) and that people are occasionally forced to consume alcohol or do so unintentionally? By the same token, will they refuse to treat knife and gunshot wounds because they disapprove of fighting? Dog bites because they consider dogs unclean? These issues should be raised before they even enter medical school. If they aren't willing to assume the duties of physicians, there's no point wasting time training them.

JenBee:

Dare I say that perhaps the paralyzingly politically correct Brits ...

You haven't a clue what you're talking about. Try engaging brain before posting sweeping generalisations.

And it's such a small step, isn't it, from refusing to answer questions, take exams, treat certain patients....to blowing up an airport.

"This reminds me. if any of you is buying alcahol or pork products, make sure you check out with a muslim cashier. specially devout looking ones.

Posted by: desidude"

Yes, and then make sure you raise holy hell when you have to wait and wait while the muslim clerk goes to find an infidel cashier to swipe through your alcohol/pork/Jello purchase. Encourage those waiting in line behind you to do the same. Make sure you go on a Saturday, during the busiest time of day. Complain to the manager. Threaten a boycott. Or actually boycott them, all businesses that kowtow to muslim fanatics' demands.

This idiocy has to stop. But it will only stop when the common-sense majority make these idiotic policies blow up right in the idiots' faces. Don't make it easy for the fools, while they're sitting there smugly congratulating themselves on being so "inclusive", "flexible" and "tolerant", while the intolerance of their emolyees is making your life hell.

And as for some muslim pharmacists refusing to sell the morning after pill, why aren't British feminists up in arms about this? And, out of curiosity, what exactly is their opposition to it? The few cases of fundamentalist Christian or Catholic pharmacists in the U.S. refusing to sell it were based on the fact that the MO pill is considered by some at the extreme end of the pro-life movement to be an "abortion" pill, because it prevents a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus (they object to the IUD for the same reason.) For the record, I think those pharmacists were unprofessional asses who should have been fired or boycotted. But their religious lunacy only went so far. They didn't refuse to sell other forms of birth control. But the reasoning behind the muslim pharmacists' refusal concerns me, and this is why: as far as I know, muslims don't have a uniform opposition to abortion, certainly not "abortion" one day into pregnancy. Which suggests to me that they are refusing to sell the pill not on ethical but on strictly moral grounds. (You had unprotected sex, now you must be punished for it, whore!) What then will prevent them from refusing to sell regular birth control pills, or spermicide, or IUDs, diaphragms, condoms, you name it? For that matter, will they start refusing to fill prescriptions for antibiotics to treat STDs, or the drugs that AIDS patients need to stay alive? Or painkillers required by someone who suffered an injury in a car accident, because "alcohol was involved"?

I'll say it again: this must be stopped, NOW! IMMEDIATELY expel or fail all medical students who refuse to do the required work, IMMEDIATELY strip all practicing doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists - everyone in the healthcare delivery professions - of their professional accreditation, PERMANENTLY, if they refuse to treat or serve people on the basis of "religion." Stop tolerating this lunacy. Being called a "racist" or an "Islamaphobe" is not so bad, believe me. Dying because a muslim doctor refuses to treat you is far worse.

...Islam is a disease...

Totally ludicrous and so hypocritical its beyond belief!!

So many corner shops in the UK are owned and ran my muslims and in my opinion they make the most of their income from selling alchohol!!

I do not and will not, ever use a business i even suspect of being Muslim or bowing to Muslim demands. I will spread this message as much as i can, hit them where it hurts, the pocket!!

"“They are so opposed to the consumption of it they don’t want to learn anything about it,” said a spokesman."

....then they have no right to be getting an education in our schools....

It doesn't make any difference.

In "Infidel", by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, she describes a harrowing episode where she spends time in a Somall refugee camp where members of her extended family are trying to flee into Kenya.

The camp is an ugly and chaotic place. Many unprotected women--that is, those not accompanied by men--are being gang-raped. Many have been severly beaten and left to die. Even more horrible, these innocent victims are then shunned by everyone else in the camp.

Ayaan, being a decent person, is deeply distressed by this. She visits several of the victims. None of the victims' fellow Muslims will help. In fact, her family warns her that they have been "dishonored", and that she will be considered dishonored also if she continues to try to help.

She finally gets aid for the women from European and Sri Lankan humanitarian workers, who have to reach the women with an armed contingent of UN troops.

That no Muslim would help these poor women is not lost on her, and is a factor years later when she leaves Islam.

Here is yet another article in which native Brits are told that immigrants are superior to them.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=486419&in_page_id=1770

Sainsbury's says immigrants have 'better ethic' than Britons

Supermarket giant Sainsbury's is hailing the “superior” work ethic of its immigrant workers.

The company, which has a workforce of 150,000, praised newcomers to Britain for their flexibility and for their uncomplaining attitude to work.

It hopes their approach will spread to domestic workers and is planning to increase its use of immigrant labour.

“We have found migrant workers to have a very satisfactory work ethic, in many cases superior to domestic workers,” J Sainsbury said in evidence to a parliamentary inquiry on the economic impact of immigration.

“We believe that this results from their differing motivations, they want to learn English, or send money home to their families."

"They tend to be more willing to work flexibly, and be satisfied with their duties, terms and conditions and productivity requirements..."

Will the law described below, in the US State of Connecticut, be enforced against Muslim doctors who refuse to offer the "morning after pill"?

Bishops agree to Plan B for rape
Conn. Catholic hospitals drop resistance, will provide drug.
By Susan Haigh, Associated Press

HARTFORD, Conn. - Roman Catholic bishops in Connecticut have agreed to let hospital personnel give emergency contraception to all rape victims, reversing their decision days before a new state law requires it.
The church, which runs four of the state's 30 hospitals, had fought the state law requiring medical personnel to give rape victims emergency contraception, sold as Plan B, even if the women are ovulating.

Church officials had said the treatment was tantamount to abortion and had been considering legal action, but they took a step away from that position Thursday, in a joint statement by the Catholic Bishops of Connecticut and leaders of the Catholic hospitals.

if these barbarians do not want to follow modern medical advice or ethics let them go back to the primitive societies there cult of Islam originates from

perhaps the daftest aspect of this is that the UK has now succeeded in having TOO MANY DOCTORS:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/08/njuniors108.xml

which includes this:
"Health Minister Ben Bradshaw, said: “The choice facing us and the medical profession is whether we accept that international medical graduates will displace UK medical graduates...Most other countries give a priority to their own medical school graduates when appointing to specialist training posts.”

in my opinion, the deliberately non-compliant, whether "international" or not, should be going to the back of the jobs queue.

some muddled but interesting thoughts in this article and the associated comments:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml;jsessionid=G4XZS55YDOT01QFIQMGCFGGAVCBQUIV0?xml=/opinion/2007/10/09/do0902.xml

I personally believe that all these anomalies of refusing to do this and that "because of my faith" are baseless but it has one overarching purpose.
To inconvenience and intimidate the infidel, who is totally ignorant on Islam and too dhimmi to protest.

This is a nothing more than personal jihad by each Muslim to further Islam and make it prominent in every way.

Whether it is medical students, the refusal to serve certain items, demands for footh baths, prayer rooms, or the disguised dawa in schools purporting inclusiveness, halal food in schools, iftar dinners, slowly but surely the Islamic glacier advances to condition the infidel for the future to come.

It all adds up and it is part of the global jihad. It does not always have to be violent. Subtle little innocuous changes in the infidels culture and laws are just as effective on the long run. It is part of the long plan.
Occasionally it is re-enforced with violence. It works every time.
They know that they cannot take over militarily.
But they can and do in the classroom, the supermarket, the hospital, and in our parlaments and institutions.

"One male student was prepared to fail his final exams rather than carry out a basic examination of a female patient."

There's your answer. They should fail medical school if they aren't prepared to be complete doctors.

This is the 21st century, not the 7th. We've come a long way since the 7th century.

"the dentist who told his female Muslim patients that they could get a discount if they put on the hijab"

Man, that is totally unethical and unprofessional for a dentist to do that. If I were the patient, I'd get up out of the chair and exit that office IMMEDIATELY, and I would go right away to the medical board and report that so-called dentist.
