It's OK. I'm sure they all dress as monks and nuns for Christmas.
"Teachers' Muslim dress order," from The Sun, with thanks to all who sent this in:
A SCHOOL was yesterday accused of MAKING teachers dress up as Asians for a day – to celebrate a Muslim festival.Kids at the 257-pupil primary have also been told to don ethnic garb even though most are Christians.
The morning assembly will be open to all parents – but dads are BARRED from a women-only party in the afternoon because Muslim husbands object to wives mixing with other men.
Just two members of staff – a part-time teacher and a teaching assistant – are Muslim.
Embrace
Yesterday a relative of one of the 39 others said: “Staff have got to go along with it – or let’s face it, they would be branded racist.
“Who would put their job on the line? They have been told they have to embrace the day to show their diversity. But they are not all happy.”
The day aims to belatedly mark Eid, the end of Ramadan.
Sally Bloomer, head of Rufford primary school in Lye, West Midlands, insisted: “I have not heard of any complaints.
“It’s all part of a diversity project to promote multi-culturalism.”
I suspect Ms. Bloomer may be hearing a complaint or two soon.
Does this have something to do with Halloween? They want everyone to dress up in the scariest garb possible to celebrate the holiday?
i keep telling you. islam will be ther dominant religion of the EU very soon. The EU leaders want and need islam to end nationalism and to keep their citizens from civil war. islam is the only glue that will gel the EU together. socialism has failed but islam will not.
This is beyond scary. My new favorite quote is "Society hasbt become more tolerant, it has just switched targets"
Seig Heil! The master race gets its way-again.
"..dads are BARRED from a women-only party in the afternoon because Muslim husbands object to wives mixing with other men."
Yes, who knows what disgusting shenanigans could be gotten up to at an afternoon primary school tea party!
Personally I tend to take stories originating from a paper like The Sun with a grain of salt. However, knowing the depth of the mass psychosis affecting my beloved Britain today, nothing would surprise me.
I do doubt, however, that the dressing-up was really compulsory, for either the kids or the teachers. Beyond the "School Orders" headline, it doesn't seem that way from the article itself. The question that bothers me more is why a school with almost no Muslim students feels compelled to spend a whole school day (when children could otherwise be, oh, I don't know, learning to read?) celebrating a Muslim holiday. Aside from everything else, is this not offensive to Muslims? It's a religious, not a "cultural" holiday, and unlike Christmas it doesn't have any "safe", secular or not-overtly-religious components so the unbelieving can join in the fun.
Lots of opportunities for fun here. First, all the male staff could go in burkhas, and all the females in the baggy pants and robes of the imams. Nobody said you had to dress as your own gender. Or, they could go dressed in suicide vests, that's good islamic dress, approved by all leading schools of islamic thought. Or they could go beyond mere dress, to islamic practices, starting with circumcisions for all the kiddies. Or they could do some role-playing: half the kids would be designated Jews, and the other half Moslems; then the "Jews" would all go and hide -- preferably behind a tree or a rock, but I guess under a desk or in a cupboard would do -- and the "Moslems" would try to find them and "kill" them. Whee, what fun! And so instructive about the ROP.
As a gesture of multiculturalist good will the Muslims will no doubt be wearing zunnar and other accoutrements of the humiliating dress code forcefully imposed upon the dhimmi populations oppressed under the despotism of sharia.
I suppose the women could dress in traditional Indian (i.e. Hindu) saris.

After all, it did ask for dressing as "Asians". That should really piss the Muslims off.
“It’s all part of a diversity project to promote multi-culturalism.”
Ok then, how about KKK Day where everyone comes to school dressed from head to toe in a white sheet? That would bring more DIVERSITY to a school too.
Can these writers give us a map and show which people they consider 'Asian' and who the rest of the morons are?
If everyone of differant nationalitys is attending school together and getting along....isn't that already a successful 'diversity project'? When I am made to walk, talk and dress like another...it is now called 'immersion'.
I would have no idea where to come up with an "Asian" outfit. None of my shirts are long enough, and I don't have an AK-47.

Asian? How many teachers will dress in a sarong?
From Yahoo dictionary: Sarong - A garment consisting of a length of printed cloth wrapped about the waist that is worn by men and women in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Pacific islands.
JohnB, thanks for the idea.
Thought that "eid" had come and gone for this year. Perhaps it is like Christmas - perpetually growing to fill more dates.
This type of forced participation will have unintended consequences, with staff and families angry at being compelled to play along. Ebonystone has some good ideas. Perhaps as an equalizer, they will have a tarts and vicars day.
The segregation of social activity by gender, based on religio-cultural sensitivity should be challenged by both staff and parents. I'd personally raise holy hell with the school administration for excluding me, not because of their choice,(nothing wrong with a ladies only tea) but because of their pandering to an asinine religious reason for doing so.
Yes I agree. Make the muslim teachers all dress up as Santa Claus....
Seriously, I suspect Mrs Bloomer is living up to her name.

All good points, but nothing is offensive to Muslims if it is used to proselytize Islam. The mosque and Islamic Center in my city announced at the start of Ramadan that non-Muslims would be welcome to sit in "mixed" groups when they visited the mosque on its Open Day (i.e. husbands would be able to sit with their wives and children, etc.). The imam told the local paper that although such mixing was un-Islamic, he wouldn't want to deter those "looking to learn more about Islam." Exactly.
They would not be allowed to enter a school in Turkey dressed in headscarves. I hear that Turkey may repeal the anti-hijab law, though.

Lots of scope for entertainment here.
First of all, most of the kids could pretend they can't read and write for the day, just like in a real muslim country.
The teachers could all have a discussion and marry the boys and girls to each other. Then they could inform the girls, that their complaints will no longer be tolerated or listened to in school anymore.
The girls could all wear a sack, so they know what their new swimming costume is going to look like.
A teacher could detonate himself in the playground, while the other teachers go on about how peaceful everything has become lately.
The whole school could stop teaching anything but the Koran and steal all their knowledge from the school next door, whilst claiming it was their knowledge all along.
They could all instigate a social system that produces terrible poverty, then blame the fact that they all saw a girl's ankles once, as the root cause.
They could whine on with a constant victim mentality, but never blame themselves for anything, just blame the USA. No that won't fly, teachers do that anyway, don't they?

"I hear that Turkey may repeal the anti-hijab law, though".
Yes - and believe it or not they are playing the human rights card. The line is "These women are being denied their right to an education because of their religious beliefs"
Why don't these people just stay home from school that day?
I like ebonystone's and johnb's ideas.
Some non-Muslim parents come in muslim-style garb but cross-dressed - or 'take the mickey' and wear HAREM costume, the skimpier the better, you know, like Princess Jasmine in Disney's 'Aladdin'.
All the kids come in NON-MUSLIM 'Asian' costumes - e.g. Japanese or Chinese traditional costume (kimono, cheong-sam), Buddhist saffron robe, kung fu or tae kwon doe uniform, or ask your friendly Hindu or Sikh or Filipino or Thai neighbour to loan you something.
Furthermore: the non-Muslim parents had better insist that EVERYONE attend a Nativity Play and Christmas Carols concert at the end of the year, just to be fair. Reciprocity, you know.
Christmas pressies on the tree for every kid who attends...
There are times that in my anger at news stories like this I think all Muslims should be deported.
I love the idea of staying home on that day -- a massive strike action against the loathsome traitors responsible for this institutional assault on religious freedom.
Isn't the slitting of the throats of animals part of this celebration?
These schools are missing a great multi-cultural opportunity here,
...how about a new holiday celebrating the day old Mo had Sex with a 9 year old child....
ban Muslim Immigration...
