KHARTOUM (Reuters) - A 7-year-old Sudanese student on Tuesday defended his British teacher accused of insulting Islam saying he had chosen to call a teddy bear Mohammad after his own name.Gillian Gibbons, a 54-year-old teacher at the Unity High School in Khartoum, was arrested on Sunday after complaints from parents that she had insulted the Prophet Mohammad and is facing a third night in jail without being charged.
"The teacher asked me what I wanted to call the teddy," the boy said shyly, his voice barely rising above a whisper. "I said Mohammad. I named it after my name," he added.
Sitting in his garden wearing shorts, his family, who did not want their full names used, urged him to describe what had happened.
He said he was not thinking of Islam's Prophet when asked to suggest a name, adding most of the class agreed with his choice.
...In Islam, Muslim children are not permitted to do normal child like things....such as naming your cuddly teddy bear with your own name....especially if your name happens to be Mohammad.....

Now exactly; it's more like the veneration of saints in the Catholic Church. The Church has always tried to make it clear that one doesn't worship the saints; that would be polytheism. But one can venerate the saints.
The real idolatry in Islam is the kissing of the Black Stone in the Kaaba. It's pretty clearly linked to the worship of lingams in various Hindu traditions. Both are derived from the ancient Indus Valley civilization.

I agree 1000 percent. It is the will of their god that they live in misery, ignorance and filth. Who are we to alter the will of such a wonderful deity? Let him "care" for his minions any way he sees fit-so long as they don't end up in our backyard.
