Jihad Watch readers may recall Imam Musa, the Washington, DC, imam who supports jihad terror and Islamic supremacism, and whose MySpace page was allegedly hacked (in the fevered minds of his supporters) by none other than Daniel Pipes and me.
Anyway, Marked Manner has noted that Imam Musa's organization, As-Sabiqun, is working to establish an Islamic State of North America by 2050:
As-Sabiqun is an Islamic movement that believes in the Islamic State of North America no later than 2050. Those who engage in this great effort require a high level of commitment and determination. We are sending out a call to the believers: Join with us in this great struggle to change the world!
"Those who engage in this great effort" should be under close scrutiny by those who have sworn to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, but they probably aren't. Why should they be? After all, Islam is a religion of peace!
Eventually my proposed altering of the First Amendment will be taken seriously. Islam is a threat to the Constitution itself and therefore should not be protected by any "Freedom of Religion" as put forth by the Founding Fathers. In fact, most of the Americans in Congress two hundred years ago were far more aware of the cult of Islam and its tragic effects on the world than all of our U.S. government combined today seems to be -- or are we just supposed to hope that we are being kept blind and dumb for our own good and suddenly Congress shall rise up and oust the villains from our shores?
This is a sad state of affairs when the greatest nation on Earth cannot even produce one leader that has the capacity and the courage to stand up and denounce Islam for what it is and demand Senate hearings to review the "Religion of Peace" before a national audience. We must wake up one Christmas morning to news stories of shootings or far worse in order to shake our self-serving politicians into action?

I have to disagree with Foehammer about needing to amend the First Amendment. Constitutional amendments are difficult to adopt, and an amendment to the Bill of Rights would be met with a firestorm of opposition and would not necessarily be the best solution anyway.
What we really need is to amend our statutes so that it is possible to treat Islam no differently than any other political movement out to destroy our nation. In other words, we need to be able to "discriminate." (To be able to "discriminate" actually means to be able to tell the difference.)
We need the jihadists to lose their rights, we do not want to lose ours as well.
So if they don't get there by 2050, will they pack up and go home?

And then there are all those special practically secret (known only to a billion other people, but who's paying attention to that) Arabic words you can use, including those "salaam aleikums" and "aleikum salaamns" and so on, but given only to fellow Muslims, fellow members of the Special Brotherhood (not to be confused with the sentimental bomfoggery of those Christians who take far too literally, to their own harm, the notion that "all men are brothers" (no matter what some of those brothers may do to them).

You're absolutely correct. Right now we can do something about it, but, given this government's willful ignorance and neglect of the Islamic threat to our nation, we'll reach a point of no return, where we won't be able to do anything without fighting a major insurgency in our cities. Americans won't be able to visit a mall, or ride public transportation, without fear staking them all the way.
I'm all for your first amendment changes, but I doubt they'll ever go through, or that they're even necessary. An act of Congress should be all that is necessary.
But no one should expect our leaders to do anything on their own. Muslims represent a voting block, small though it is, in this country, and that will always be the primary concern of politicians. They'll throw us all overboard for those few votes.
It will require a major insurrection by the American public to force the politicians to do what is necessary to protect this country from the Islamic threat.

Nothing will change in regards to how we treat fanatics like Musa until a lot more Americans die.
The thing is there needs to be a degree political consensus and public demand for any change in laws dealing with these monsters and the only way that will come about in our sleepwalking society is through death and destruction.
Foehammer contends we need a constitutional amendment to stop Islam from ruining America (which it would surely do as it has ruined, or kept in ruin, every other society where it has become dominant----after all, a vibrant Muslim nation is an oxymoron)while Karl2 maintains such constitutional alteration is difficult to accomplish and unnecessary because all we need do is amend numerous statutes to accomplish the same. I'm completely with Foehammer here for two reasons. First, political movements out to overturn America are legal in this country as long as members of them don't act upon certain of the movement's beliefs. For instance, Marxism seeks the overthrow of the American government and our democratic stystem, but the Communist Party is perfectly legal here and always has been, even during the height of the Cold War. Second, even were statutes altered to illegalize Islam, state and federal judges across this nation would declare such statutes unconstitutional, inopperative and void because violative of the First Amendment. The only way to get around all this is to have a new amendment to the Constitution specifically making Islam unlawful in this country. Will it be difficult to achieve this? You bet it will. But it is the only sure way to stop the world's dreariest, stupidest, most intolerant and most destructive religion in the history of man from transforming America for the worst, possibly forever.
Short of a constitutional amendment, we will have to deal with Islam as we have dealt with other systems of thought which seek the end of the United States as we know it. To wit, by education of the inimical aspects of Islam, by effectively ridiculing Mohammed's creed, by counting on the good sense of the American people to eventually see that Islam is as much of a totalitarian ideology as is Nazism and Marxism and should be despised, by counting on at least some Muslims to leave their wretched religion and openly denounce it (in short, many Whittaker Chambers types) and by possibly limiting immigration from Muslim nations on other pretexts. the obvious mathematical shortcomings of Imam Musa, amongst many others shortcomings, makes his desired result on the schedule he has proposed, laughable.
While the US is currently enjoying a slightly better than replacement fertility rate, the fertility rate amongst Muslims is bound to be much higher. So, there numbers will increase steadily due to this and via the back-door polygamy which I am all but assured already exists.
Couple those realities with unchecked, unregulated immigration and the numbers will only get worse in our favor. Doable by 2050? No, at least not unless there is a national Kool--aid event that compels the masses to give up everything and get on line to be a slave to Allah.

Unfortunately, these As-Sabiqun jokers are probably deadly serious and probably have plenty of backing from mosques across the Middle East, the USA, and Europe. I see the makings of an Chechnya-Russia standoff in the makings on American soil if we are not careful.
As much as we all of us would love to give these guys an Islamic North American homeland nine hundred miles off the coast of Oregon with the white pointer sharks forty fathoms below the surface of the Pacific, this problem is unlikely to go away that easily (this isn't the only group demanding an Islamic 'homeland' in North America). There's probably mosques that are plotting to instigate a bloody civil war against the American people to take land from the United States for this Islamic 'homeland' as I write this. And the US public may be anesthetized at this point to do much about except give in.
Maybe what the American people should consider doing is prosecuting the United States government (possibly in the form of a class action lawsuit) for permitting Islam to be permitted on US soil. Islam clearly teaches such things as first degree murder(s) on an unlimited scale, conspiracy to commit first degree murder(s) on an unlimited scale, torture, mutiliation of human bodies both live and corpses, slavery, conspiracy to overthrow government, sedition, and polygamy-- to name a few things that are criminal under US penal codes. The US government has acted as an accessory to all of these Islamic teachings and what is worse has covered it up by pretending this is all Constitutional. Islam isn't even deserving of constitutional protections as it teaches what the US Constitution clearly describes as "cruel and unusal punishments" (beheadings, amputations, stonings, whippings, and beatings qualify to most people)--these things are fundamentally incompatible with the Constitituion and are grounds for not permitting Islam to exist here. Furthermore, Islam may not even qualify as a religion as it merges the church AND state which may qualify it for political ideology status. And why DOES Islam enjoy a free pass to break US laws with impunity--as even Mormons do not get to practice polygamy under US laws, but now Muslims do? Why isn't everybody screaming "discrimination" like bloody hell (as this IS discrimination)?
What would we gain by suing the US government for conspiring to bring and keep something in the US that should be illegal under US laws here? Hopefully, the banning of Islam so that it never comes back here again. It's too cold in Canada. Better to live in a hot, dry desert. Mexico should be willing to offer one of its states, since its people are all moving north to cooler climes.
From there, the jihad can spread through Central America and then into Colombia and Venezuela. Brazil is iffy - that huge rainforest, and all.

The “freedom of religion” clause, does not preclude all other laws.
Example: we do not allow religious freedom when it comes to animal sacrifice or human sacrifice and we don’t allow sex for money religious cults, the first amendment is fine as is.
Bar: I respectfully submit to you that the First Amendment is not fine as it is. Here's why: The First Amendment protects virtually all belief. It doesn't necessarily protect acting upon sundry beliefs. Therefore, Muslims can propagate in this country and, as their numbers swell, they can most definitely gain political clout and thus determine on an increasing scale what will or will not be permitted as long as they are not violent. Most will not be violent and thus their numbers will grow. Demographics, not terror, will be the manner by which Mohammedans can most successfully transform American society. All this will be protected by the First Amendment. That is why we need an additional amendment to the Constitution disallowing Islam legal status in this nation. Elric 66 and Foehammer are correct. You are not. Please rethink your position.

If anyone believes me soft-brained enough to not know how to amend the Constitution so that it remains the same in its heart and yet protects us from Islamism, you'd better start paying better attention. Your suggested amendment would clearly violate not only the equal protection clause but also the due process clause contained within the 14th amendment.
Bar: To the extent you are correct (and that itself is problematical), it is easily obviated by clearly mentioning in any new amendment banning Islam that no 14th Amendment protection (or any other possible Constitutional protection) is in any way to be construed as applying to the Islamic faith. Whatever it would take to make Islam heinous, not only in the eyes of Americans but by any Constitutional standard, is capable of being done if America has the collective will to do so.
