Here is the Iranian reasoning: If you stop us from getting nukes, we'll attack you. If you allow us to get nukes, we'll attack Israel. So essentially, for the antisemitic dhimmi European Union reps, Iran's getting nukes has no downside.

Hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday warned European countries not to follow the US lead in imposing unilateral sanctions against his country, state radio reported.Ahmadinejad threatened unspecified retaliation by Iran if Europe followed in the footsteps of the United States, which last week announced sanctions against the Islamic state.
"If they plan to cooperate with the enemy of the Iranian nation, we cannot interpret this as a friendly behavior. We will show reaction," the radio quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
Meanwhile, US Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns told reporters that Washington wants a third UN Security Council sanctions resolution passed as soon as possible.
He also said the US wants the European Union to push forward with further sanctions against Iran, and urged Iran's major trading partners to cut back business with Teheran to send a strong message.
"Our view is that all of that should happen as soon as possible so that Iran gets the message that as long as it's defying the Security Council, which it currently is, and not cooperating fully with the IAEA ... then there's going to be a price to what Iran does," he said. "And that price will be increased isolation and heightened sanctions."
The US measure bans dealings with a host of companies connected to Iran's Revolutionary Guards, an elite force that has extensive business holdings in oil, construction and other sectors.
It also prohibits American companies from working with the Guards-linked Iranian companies and puts pressure on international firms and banks not to deal with them as well.
Ahmadinejad spoke after a ceremony inaugurating a petrochemical complex in the southern port of Asalouyeh, some 1,500 kilometers south of the capital, Teheran.
"You, Europeans, know well what will happen in the economic sphere if Iran takes a serious move in this matter," the Iranian leader said.
IRNA, the state official news agency, also quoted Ahmdinejad as saying: "You, Europe, need us more" - a veiled reference to business ties between Teheran and European nations.

The saddest part is that president Monkeyman is correct to a point and that the Europeans allowed things to get this screwed up by conducting business as usual with these lunatics when they should have known better. Infidels just never learn-the best thing to do in relations with the ummah is to have as few as possible. Leave them to their own devices and watch them prey upon each other.

I dont think its sad. The Euros have allowed this to happen. By saying they are at the mercy of the Iranains would mean the Euros are the victims. They arent. They allowed this to happen and could still stand up but choose not too.

Radiation from the Russian nuclear accident (the name of the reactor escapes me) was detected in Europe within days, and that was from a facility that Russians were trying to contain. Are we to believe the effects of even the most basic weapon Iran would launch would be confined to Israel?

Europe certainly doesn't need Iran more than it needs the US, even when you include oil in the equation. However, Europe has nothing whatsoever to fear from the US, not even in the form of the mildest sanctions.
Oh, we might be disapproving of the EU's actions, and might "put pressure" on them--probably in the form of gentle tsk-tsking by Bush and Rice. In the end, though, sanctions even against *Iran* are controversial. We will stand staunchly by our European allies--no matter how weak their standing by us, or even for themselves.

Chernobyl. And that wasn't even a nuclear explosion; just an accidental "dirty bomb."
And, PMK is quite correct. The fallout from such an attack (in the original, literal sense of "fallout" -- radioactive dust clouds that may be lethal with a few hours of exposure, depending on weather conditions and other factors) will spread over thousands, if not tens of thousands of square miles.
Those old enough to remember the days of above-ground nuclear tests will recall Strontium 90 scares in milk, etc., and that was just what our governments let us know about. Those tests literally contaminated areas on the opposite side of the globe. Cancer rates skyrocketed in some areas, crops were plowed under, contaminated cattle slaughtered... and these were detonations in remote, underpopulated areas, half a century ago.
Perhaps we Infidels will see a great irony unfold: that high-altitude winds the the southeast will steer the worst of the lethal dust from the attack on the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity over the birthplace of Islam, making the following year's hejira a terminal medical experience for participants, as well as a spiritual one.

Any mention of the France and Germany speeches at the recent UN conference was pre-empted by Buddist monks in Burma. I have heard the MSM state that our "allies" are against the USA on the Iran sanctions issue. For example, our "allies" China and Russia!
