Israel's first Arab minister says Islamic law supersedes Israeli law

A Which Side Are You On Alert: "Majadle Justifies Destruction of Temple Remains," by Gil Ronen for Israel National News (thanks to Neil):

(IsraelNN.com) The Jewish State's first Arab minister, Raleb Majadle, declared Wednesday that as far as Jerusalem's Temple Mount is concerned, Israeli sovereignty is nonexistent and Islam rules. The minister spoke in his official capacity as Minister of Science, Culture and Sport, from the Knesset podium, in response to a parliamentary question by MK Aryeh Eldad (NU/NRP).

MK Eldad's question referred to the unsupervised digging carried out by the Muslim authorities (the "Wakf") on the Temple Mount during the summer, by means of heavy machinery. "I received a series of photographs of digs on the Temple Mount near the Dome of the Rock," the parliamentary question read. "The police are present on the scene but there is no supervision by the Department of Antiquities regarding finds taken out of the digs, and there is a serious concern that they could be destroyed by the Wakf. What will be done in the short term to stop the destruction of the remains of the Temple?"

Speaking before the Knesset plenum, Majadle replied that the digs carried out on the Mount were coordinated, accompanied and supervised by the Antiquities Authority. "I have worked in recent months to create understandings between the Antiquities Authority and the Islamic Wakf because I believe that this is the only way," he said.

MK Eldad asked Majadle pointedly from the plenum floor: "Does Israeli law apply on the Temple Mount or does it not?"

Majadle answered: "In my opinion, certainly not." Eldad reminded him that in answering parliamentary questions he speaks for the entire government, but Majadle was unfazed: "I will say my opinion. Before I am a government minister I am first and foremost a person and a citizen and a Muslim. With all due respect for the law, the law was meant to respect the religion, the person and the citizen and protect him, and not the other way around, enslave him," he explained. "Therefore I say clearly: Al-Aksa, Al-Haram al-Sharif [as the Temple Mount is called by Muslims – ed.], cannot be under the authority of Israeli law."

Eldad interrupted him repeatedly, reminding him that he had sworn allegiance to the State of Israel and its laws, but Majadle insisted: "I hereby inform you, esteemed MK Eldad, that I may be a minister for one, two or ten years but I was born a Muslim, and a Muslim I shall die. I respect Israeli law... but if there is a contradiction between the law and my deep faith as a Muslim, I announce that I will know what to choose."

Immediately after this exchange, MK Eldad wrote to the Prime Minister demanding that Majadle be fired from the government. In addition, he asked the Attorney General to open a police investigation against him, on suspicion of breach of trust.

Indeed, he should be fired.

This person is only the science minister, not the prime minister. Does it really matter if a few minsters, judges, generals, business people, doctors, nuclear weapons caretakers, etc believe this or say it? Its not like he was being serious was it? He only said it as response to a formal question in parliament as part of his job. Why would you think he really meant it?

Is this Olmert, is he useless or is he useless ?

He is surely the "peace in our time" fool ?

His minister precedes him and trumpets his glory.

This nonsense shouldn't be happening and the sooner the Israelis can get rid of him, the better.

(and get rid of that other leftist fool Peretz)

Progressive Israel would be loathe to fire their only arab minister.

Doing so, would, you know, generate antipathy for Israel among its arab population and animosity at the UN. Israel can't afford to jeopardize its good relations with both, especially now that Eid ul-Adha is coming up.

He must be respected for his honesty and lack of deception (common to the Muslim mind) on this matter. However, it's better to know where one stands with such a person and there is always the possibility of reaching some understanding under such circumstances.

The minister is looking at this in terms of "religious rights". Fair enough. But what about the religious rights of Jews? The Temple's existence preceded the mosque. Were not Jewish religious rights violated by the mosque's building and doesn't the unsupervised digging at the Temple+Mosque add insult to injury?

Indignation is no answer. It is a pose of someone whose supremacist assumptions are questioned.

Of course there will be an indignant-emotional "how dare you" response to the questioning of the minister's supremacist assumptions. But that is precisely why the question should be asked. Doesn't the Temple precede the Mosque? Who has more rights in this matter-the Temple of the Jewish people or the Mosque of the Muslims? Wasn't the ground first Jewish hallowed ground? Since the Temple belongs to the Jews, why weren't they asked permission for the Mosque's building in the first place?

There are a host of questions here that could be addressed to the minister in an attempt to get beyond the us vs. them mind-set of Islam, its presumption of the Temple's Dhimmi status, the supremacist attitude that is deeply ingrained in the minister's response. It doesn't even occur to him that the Temple's existence preceded the Mosque's existence. Does that matter, Mr. Minister?

Sorry, OT but interesting

My Farewell to Little Green Footballs
by Baron Bodissey

I believe Robert's exhaustive research of muslim beliefs, writings, and deeds have adequately warned us about this.

Solomons temple's remains will be destroyed by the muslims if Israel is foolish enough to let them.

I find it ironic that this guy can get into positions inside of Israel that have air time that are of the same ilk as those who want the Jews dead. Gee, and while any Jew, or any non-muslim for that matter, live in muslim lands with their life in their hands subject to any sort of cruelty at any time.

And our Pope goes to saudi arabia and asks for religious tolerance - while he got none. I suppose the tolerance was that he was able to enter, and leave, in one piece.

I wonder why so many Jews are what we call 'progressives' or 'liberals' in our country and also are known to appease the muslims while their brothers and sisters die by muslim hands just because they are Jews. I think it is the same phenomenon, or reasoning by the Israeli Jews, that allow muslims in their country to breed like rabbits, and gain positions of power, to be able to say such things.

I guess we shouldn't expect any different attitude from a people who have destroyed thousands of churches that contained much of the type of art of the times, Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, and Jewish temples.

Fire him at once, and revoke his citizenship.

The fact that a guy like that can be a member of the Knesset shows how much the Jews bend over backward to be fair; whereas the Muslims spit in the face of the Jews who are bending over backward.

All the more reason for a Jewish state and a Muslim state. If you don't have a state which is designated Jewish, the Muslims will eventually overtake the Jews population-wise, and then simply vote the Jews out. Once that occurs, the Israeli "experiment" in democracy will not only end, but will be erased from all history books.

Just wait til more and more palestinians get Israeli citizenship. They'll simply vote the place out of existence. But at least the West can crow about how well democracy works in the Middle East and that democracy and the Koran can indeed live harmoniously, right?

Israel has been slowly committing suicide since the Yom Kippur war. A relentless and myopic process of gutless appeasement of its arch enemy...Islam. It's all mapped out...rather hectically... in the new seemingly pessimistic but realistic documentary 'Farewell Israel', which casts serious and justifiable aspersions on the peaceniks such as Peres, Rabin and Olmert within the liberal Israeli establishment and their tragic and humiliating self-abasement.Particularly apt in the film are parallels with Chamberlain and his inability to see the true nature of Hitler's evil.

As with every Muslim in every infidel land, their allegiance is to Islam, not the country they inhabit.

They are all anti-Constitutional, anti-Bill of Rights de facto colonizers/invaders, not honest citizens.

A loyalty oath sworn by them is invalid under the "War is deceit" clause of Mohammedanism.

Best to keep them out of your lands or you only invite infil-traitors.

Smiling and lying, but intent on undermining your country.

Islam uber alles.

How is this any different from the Mohammedans in the USA? If you held their feet to the fire, they would all say the same thing: That Allah's will is transcendent over the man-made constructions of American government.

The fact that allah is a reconstitutded moon-god, worshipped in the form of a rock...well, that's just someone's opinion. 1.5 Billion believers (20% of humanity) can't be all wrong, can they?

Greetings:

If the minister, Mr. Majadle, is fired, he can always send his resume to the FBI & CIA. I hear they have an opening.

This minister is frank, Frank; and, yes, his government's policy must change. Not only are these questions essential to Jewish identity and Israel's national interest, touching on its very right to existance, but also essential to the core of world culture and history, of universal civilization--not to mention, to the core of the Christian narrative.

Then promote him to professional door knob polisher. He does not need to speak to the public then.

Hmmmmm? – Not only that but the government would be keeping within its precious ‘diversity guidelines’ – you know: ‘no culture left behind’. Makes perfect sense to me! What about FAA, with its properly hajibed airline screeners who seem to like frisking 70 year old nuns as potential ‘terrorist’ threats (Detroit Metro Oct 2007). Its all so clear to me now.

Not only should this sworn enemy of a "Jewish State" be fired, all Arabs should be ejected from the Knesset-AND Israeli citizenship should be stripped from all Arabs.

SHOULD is the keyword here. WILL is remote as long as corrupt trators lead Israel's government.

Is Israel a "Jewish State," a homeland for the Jews or is it a a stupid country that nourishes the enemies that wish for and often work for its destruction?

Question is rhetorical

WHAT'S WRONG WITH ISRAEL?

The situation of Israel and its government is so unbelieveable that enough cannot be said to try and make sense of what appears nonsensical.

A Jewish Philosphy of History:Israel's Degradation and Redemption by Paul Eidelberg
discusses the "Arab problem." It sets forth a national strategy addressed to two interrelated dangers: (1) the danger posed by Israel’s Arab citizens who identify with their kinsmen, the so-called Palestinians, and (2) the danger of an Arab Palestinian state, whose inhabitants are openly dedicated to Israel’s extermination. [A] chapter [in the book] shows how these two dangers can be overcome by a rigorous application of democratic as well as Jewish principles.

...close the borders to Muslims....here and there

Barakeh is propagandising again, and as Goebbels said, if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.

The Temple Mount didn't become Islam's third holiest site until the 1930's when Hajj Amin Al Husseini, (later to become the leader of the Bosnian-Muslim troops - a unit of the "Hanjar (Saber) Division" of the Waffen SS which he personally recruited for Hitler), decided to make the status of Jerusalem a personal political issue... after he'd organised the Hebron massacre in 1929.

O.K., now we know.

"Indeed, he should be fired" (on).

That reminds me of the time the Saudi government had a conflict with the Jewish representative...oh wait that's never happened. Why do Western countries make concessions when they are never returned in the Islamic world?

Taxi, taxi for a mister Raleb Majadle!

It comes down, and is coming down to a choice.

We in the west, can remove islam from our countrys , or it will come to war, a winner take all war.

The first choice is a sorry state, the other will have no winners, just survivors.

MK Eldad asked Majadle pointedly from the plenum floor: "Does Israeli law apply on the Temple Mount or does it not?"

It appears that this MK Eldad dude has been reading JihadWatch.

oh, he's a SCIENCE Minister.....Words fail me.

HE MUST BE A DEMOCRAT

What are the impeachment procedures in the Israeli Constitution?

What is the criminal penalty for high treason among elected officials?

Israel has thousands of highly qualified indigenous Arabic-speaking CHRISTIANS who are never considered for cabinet posts. Why? Because the Christians don't blow themsleves up, don't kidnap, rape or murder Jews, and don't pose a threat to the existence of the Jewish state. Thus dhimmis like Olmert see no reason to appease them.

If Israel had a government that actually looked after Israeli interests it would embrace the Christian Palestinians and expel every Muslim to Jordan. Sadly, very few Israeli politicians actually have the guts to do what is right for either the Jews or the Christian minority.
