Less than half of Pakistani public supports attacking Al-Qaeda, cracking down on jihadists

Tiny Minority of Extremists Update: "Less than Half of Pakistani Public Supports Attacking Al Qaeda, Cracking Down on Fundamentalists," from World Public Opinion (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):

Pakistanis show only weak support for using force against Islamic militants and overwhelmingly oppose allowing outside forces to combat al Qaeda on Pakistani territory.

A WorldPublicOpinion.org poll finds that just 44 percent of urban Pakistanis favor sending the Pakistani army to the Northwestern tribal areas to “pursue and capture al Qaeda fighters.” Only 48 percent would allow the Pakistan army to act against “Taliban insurgents who have crossed over from Afghanistan.” In both cases, about a third oppose such military action and a fifth decline to answer.

Pakistanis reject overwhelmingly the idea of permitting foreign troops to attack al Qaeda on Pakistani territory. Four out of five (80%) say their government should not allow American or other foreign troops to enter Pakistan to pursue and capture al Qaeda fighters.” Three out of four (77%) oppose allowing foreign troops to attack Taliban insurgents based in Pakistan.

These are some of the results of a poll of 907 Pakistanis conducted in urban areas Sept. 12-28, 2007. The findings also reveal that a majority of urban Pakistanis believe their government’s decision to attack militants holding the Red Mosque in Islamabad was a mistake.

[...]

On July 11, Pakistan forces raided the Red Mosque in Islamabad to oust Islamic militants. More than 100 people died in the raid, including dozens of suspected militants and at least 10 Pakistani troops.

Nearly two out of three respondents (64%) say the raid was a “mistake” while only 22 percent say they support the decision.

These attitudes may also reflect Pakistani sympathy for at least some Islamist goals. A substantial 60 percent majority believes that “Shari’a should play a larger role in Pakistan law” than it does now. Only 26 percent say it should play the same role (15%) or a smaller role (11%) and 15 percent do not answer....

So, at least half of Pakistan is NUTS!

The other half is only slightly NUTS!

And both sides hate each other to DEATH!

Perfect!

Here's wishing both sides victory!

These kind of polls suggest that we need a vastly different policy in relation to the Muslim world. But we are unlikely to get what we need to avoid much pain in the next 10 or 15 years. The main reason is that what we need would itself cause much pain.

What we need (and why Robert Spencer so objected to this word, I do not understand) is what Derbyshire said was the upshot of the JihadWatch philosophy: separation. not racial, but religious.

And when our "liberal" friends start talking of the evils of separation, segregation, apartheid, let us say, "You are not making the right distinctions."

Talibanistan is coming-the joining of Afghanistan and Pakistan under the murderous primitives, complete with nukes. Once that happens we'll probably see an increase of people leaving the Pak part and one hell of a problem for the US to deal with.

>Four out of five (80%) say their government >should not allow American or other foreign >troops to enter Pakistan to pursue and capture
>al Qaeda fighters.”

So much for Barack Obama's promise that he would send US troops to bomb OBL in Pakistan, Wazooistan or whatever-stan. BO claims that his foreign policy would restore good relations with former allies.

More to come on Obama's left-wing anti-Zionist church, the "United Church of Christ".

Yet the west keeps let more and more of them immigrate.

Death wish on a stick.

I'm starting to think there might be something to Ron Paul. . .bring our troops home, cut off foreign aid and separate ourselves from the rest of the world. Of course then our economy would collapse and the 2 - 4 million muslims already here would be a problem, but what the heck. As Ted Kennedy says, "we'll drive off that bridge when we come to it".

We should be shocked but not surprised.

Pakistan was a part of India until independance. But Muslims can't be ruled by infidels.......it is useful to remember the slaughter that occured during the partioning of India. Or perhaps the slaughter that occured when Muslim invaders invaded India.

The Hindu (and Buddhist) Holocaust.

I bet it's even less than 50% of the pakistanis in the UK.

I had to laugh at the Damage-control being done by MPAC when Steven Emerson confronted the female rep. who was asked about the 22% of Muslims in American that reported a bias to justifying terrorism by those Misunderstanders of the Quran.

She tried to placate the non-Muslim viewers
by assuring them that the Survey showed that over 3/4 of the Muslims in American oppose Terrorism and violence.

WOW.... so if her husband only beat her 3 months out of the year she would praise Allah
for the blessing that he Doesn't beat her during the other 9 months??????

No wonder so many of the Pro-Shria law hijab wearing Muslim females have those lifeless eyes
and speak like one of those automatons at Disney World that are Programmed to repeat something no matter waht the external conditions , somewhat like the Automaton Taxi driver in Total Recall
that kept that whimsical grin of optomism while being oblivious to the bombs going off and Arnold screaming at him to pay attention to the danger of killers chasing them.

Even funnier was Fibrahim Hooper who responded
as well later on and said the survey was flawed
because it didn't question enough Muslims to get a proper Pulse for the true feelings of the 8 million? Muslims in America , the paradoxical irony in his comment is that CAIR is well know for picking up a grain of sand and insisting they know exactly which beach it came from because it looked like an Islamophobic grain of silicate and must have come from a Infidel shoreline .

CAIR Canada was caught pawning off a bogus suvey about Profiling and Racism towards Muslims in Canada , Sheema Khan (AKA con-job Khan) was a witness at the Maher Arar inquiry and while under oath she had to reveal that the 70'000 "Victims" of racism and profiling were solicited complaints
with a large group from University campuses and foreign students .
Then we found out that CAIR-Can used less than 600 responses which included people who said they Knew of someone claiming to be a victim or that they too Feared becoming a Victim or thought they were being Profiled in secrecy by the RCMP , Khan finally admitted that the survey was not a Professional and Scientific one and that CAIR merely Projected the results onto the population of 800'000 allegedly in canada according to CAIR's own claims .
We also discovered that it was also a Online internet based format with annonimity to those who wish not to reveal any link to follow-up on these Human Rights violations according to CAIR , and while CAIR did profess to have close to 4000 members that support them I saw the facts that that was CAIR's email Address folder for those wanting up dates and alerts for Islamic Events in canada , then it came out that the Actual "Members" were close to 400 which included all their staff and relatives.

Those sly foxes , it's what they don't say that speaks volumes about the Media-Jihad to poster hatred and incite Jihad on the infidels and then blame the victims for being Islamophobes.

From the article "A substantial 60 percent majority believes that “Shari’a should play a larger role in Pakistan law” than it does now. Only 26 percent say it should play the same role (15%) or a smaller role (11%)"

So -at most - a cool one in ten Pakistanis is for less Sharia law, the rest simply adore the system.

The US is pumping in billions into a country that practices Sharia law and where the overwhelming majority support such a constitution. Meanwhile, the dollar plummets to new lows and New Orleans has washed away

It's your tax bucks at work, schmucks.

And "only 22 percent say they support the decision" to act against people in the Red Mosque who were kidnapping police, and had shot and killed two in the street outside!

The "people" in Red mosque who were kidnapping police and had killed some were the imams and the mullahs and their students. Religious people. islamic religious people.

Another successful look at a situation through the eyes of religion alone, tossing away any other possible factors involved in a place like Pakistan. Like Pakistanis think about Islam alone. No economics, no politics, no international human rights, etc.

Pakistanis do not want the US to come in and bomb and attack Al Qaeda in their country because the US has a very messy history of killing hundreds of civilians in its military strikes, exacerbating already strained tribal relations and throwing yet another country in to ruin because our army is running around with their heads somewhere dark.

Also, I am pretty sure that Pakistanis don't want soldiers sent to the northern territories because the military's presence would stoke fires with India and result in further abuses by the country's military government.

Finally, although you guys here are experts on Islam, Sharia is a word, used by Spencer and his cronies to scare you into thinking that it means something that it really doesn't. I would invite you to take a look throughout Islamic history (preferably not a polemic text, but someone who actually has studied the subject for more than 45 minutes before putting out a book on it) and notice the differences and developments within Sharia law throughout the centuries and across the Islamic world.

Just to make you guys even more angry, you know that you all went to a madrassa, right? That you are all subject to Sharia right now in America, and that in the United States the Supreme Court and the Sheikh Council pass out fatwas every year, and people actually follow them!

Just doing some thinking...

"I would invite you to take a look throughout Islamic history ..."

...It is violent and dismal....with more failures than successes...yet Islam continues to try to rule with the iron fist and the threat of death....errr..promise of death....to all who would dare not to convert....I see no happy and successfull Islamic led countries today....all are engaged in violet struggles....Old Mo said it would be this way....
