After reading about the muslim bombing of the tourists in the Maldives I went to Wikipedia to read up on this small country with the beautiful beaches.

The country was staunchly Buddhist from 300 BC until the 12th century when the country "converted" to islam. No reason was offered as to the reason for the sudden conversion. One, however, can imagine.

I also googled for the names of resorts in the Maldives. When I saw what they charge per day per person I can understand why the gov't might want to crack down on the muzzies gone wild in paradise.

I wish the Maldives gov't great success.

Why didn't this 'traditionally moderate Islamic' country have done some research and banned student visas for young people wanting to study in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia?

I wonder if the "vacationing tycoons and bikini-clad Hollywood superstars" will come back with a commitment to tell the truth about Islamic Terrorism or if they will sip another drink and stick their heads back in the sand, blissfully deluding themselves that the attack never happened, or if it did, it's because America did something to tick somebody off, somewhere in the world. According to a Maldives tourism site, fishing is strictly regulated and conservation practiced. Chief amongst these restrictions is a prohibition against the use of HARPOON GUNS FOR HUNTING OF MARINE MAMMALS...(see below)

Given the recent use of harpoons by extremists, it appears that they will need to expand the prohibition of harpoon hunting to human prey.

This is also a demonstration of the Law of Unintended Consequences, since the prior legitimate use of harpoon guns was banned, there is likely a surplus of harpoons lying around. It is human nature to create new and innovative uses for surplus assets. Apparently, the highest and best use for surplus harpoons is to attack police and spread Jihad.

Due to recent Maldives legislation banning the employment of Harpoons, unemployed young Harpoons have become easy prey for charismatic extremists. As a civilization, we've lost the gut level grasp of the law of the jungle. Increasingly, new generations of Western students are purposefully deprived of an appreciation for the legacy of Western Civilization by public school systems and university professors… and we are too civilized, too open minded to stop it from happening (I doubt many militants showed up to intimidate those disrupting "Islamofacism Awareness Week"). Our youth are as likely to be cynically propagandized against Western Civilization as taught its virtues. Our military, able to project great force with relatively few people, is seen as an undesirable "special interest" group by too many in the West, not as the main responsibility of government. When we (the West) do engage an enemy, as in Iraq or Afghanistan, we are unwilling to backup our technological might with the self confident cultural might needed to subdue and force change on our enemies' culture, by whatever means necessary.

Historically, more of the population has been directly involved in fighting for its own survival and the survival of the state (hence the term, cannon fodder), and that translated into a better appreciation for the law of the jungle.

Islam, on the other hand, understands the jungle well and happily applies that knowledge to any civilization progressing far enough down the road of "enlightenment" to make a fat, juicy, civilized meal.

Why isn't that challenge put to every Muslim nation that views itself as tolerant? Let them know that NATO will not be there to help them after they have destroyed all respect for non-Muslim cultures. They will have to protect themselves.

The best thing the Western nations could do is boycott all these tourist havens until those who seek Western business take care of their own jihadists. In the end "peaceful" Muslims will have to kill the Islamofascists or be killed by them.

No. It was all a horrible misunderstanding. They were only trying to teach the tourists about the culture of the Maldives. Bombs and harpoons are like big wet kisses to the Muslims of the Maldives. It was all about love. Islam is peace.

Maldives gets what it deserves. Instead of building on the moderate aspects of their culture, Maldivians, spearheaded by their government, have been promoting Islam in their society for the past thirty years. The whole process has been going on without discussion.

Like a cheap whore, Maldives has been shamelessly accepting Saudi and Kuwaiti funds in order to build mosques and madrassahs.
The president himself is no moderate. He is a product of the radical Islamic "university" of Al-Azhar. He has no other qualification but Islamic hard-line religious studies. He has two masks: towards the outside press he talks about moderation, ecology and sea-level rise. But all his speeches in the Maldivian language are committed to promote Islam in his nation.

The political opposition is composed of (is that possible? I seems it always is) ...even more radical Wahhabi fanatics, among them "Seyku Fareed", a cleric is the most popular. His radical islamic education was paid for by the Maldivian government itself.

There is no secular party, no secular opposition in the country. No Maldivian dares question Islam, despite the recent intense political struggles.
In the Maldives Islam reigns supreme. The Maldives is a desert for secularism and democracy. Religion has free rein and full privileges there. It is a "100 %" Muslim country, like all Maldivians want to repeat.

Let no one think that the Maldives is a moderate country. More attacks with harpoons and machetes are in store.

Beware, Islam has invaded other tropical tourist destinations too including the Caribbean islands and violence there has been escalating. Several years back there were shootings of American tourists in St.Thomas that I don't believe were ever satisfactorily explained.

In 2000, hundreds of Bahamanians were found massacred inside a cathedral there (at least the LA Times reported that in 2001, I wish I had saved that article). The Bahamanian government understandably hushed the incident up and although most people I talk to are vaguely aware of this incident, little information on it has yet been made available to the public. It seems likely that this masacre in the Bahamas was Islamic terrorism, especially considering that it was perpetrated inside a cathedral, the people were more than likely Christians, and it coincides with a general timeline of escalating Islamic violence in this hemisphere. If anyone has any information on the Bahamas massacre in 2000 it would be welcome as it was a very serious terrorism incident we need to be made aware of.

I was also informed that abu Sayyaf massacred dozens of tourists in Papeete, Tahiti in 2000, which (again) was hushed up but was a significant terror attack. I would be interested in learning more about this attack if anyone has any info on that incident.
