Islamabad - Pakistan is considering enforcement of Islamic laws in Pakistan's north-western Swat valley to meet the demands of pro-Taliban militants who briefly seized and then released around 100 security personnel after nine days' fierce fighting that left more than 200 people dead. "The government is considering the implementation of Sharia law in the view of the demands of the local people," said Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai, governor of the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) in which the valley is situated."We are trying to resolve the issue through negotiations but if required force will also be used," the DawnNews channel cited him as saying.
The statement came as the Islamic militants said they had released 120 soldiers captured after the clashes in Swat, some 160 kilometres from the NWFP capital Peshawar.
"They have gone to their home towns and they have promised not to work with the security forces in the future," the militants' spokesman Maulana Sirajuddin told reporters.

Is anyone really surprised by this?This is a familiar pattern. Pakistan makes a half-hearted attempt to go after the jihadis, fails, then attempts to appease them. A phony truce is the result allowing the jihadis to gain strength, after which the jihadis again launch attacks.Pakistan like most Muslim countries is an unreliable ally.It time for the US to quit wasting time and money on Pakistan.

Pakistan is on the verge of anarchy and the religion of peace has much to do with it! A tiny element of extremists can always torpedo democracy. Democracy only functions if all community members respect the majority decisions and if minorities have constitutional protections from a tyranny of the majority. Islam is a political movement that has no respect for the individual, even less respect for the woman and it callously treats the infidel as a piece of meat or property like a cow that can be butchered or sold as it is hit with sticks and lead to the market place. Islam is just a political movement that allows evil men to set themselves up in power. Islam in Pakistan will seek one vote one time for Islam. Democracy is an anathema to Islam. In the U.S. for example, the conflict of ideas can be seen in suffrage voting in red states and blue ones. In Islamo land in contrast, one will see a conflict of ideas in the shooting and murders between the red mosque and the blue one. Who will free the west from its liberals who in their arrogant ignorance are condemning and endangering all infidels to death in the cross fire initiating from within the red and blue mosques?

And last year in June of 2006 when 17 Pakistani background Suicide-bombers were rounded-up in Toronto Canada before they used the 6600lbs of explosives we heard all the rants about how Islam and Sharia-Law had nothing to do with it , plus just this year a Pro-Hamas/Sharia Law youth got Government funding to make a Movie Short about the Racial-Profiling and Islamophobia in Canada in the Post-9/11 era .

1. Islamic law in Pakistan is nothing new.
2. The phrase "Pakistan is considering" would more accurately be stated as "Musharraf is considering."
All this does not suprise me since Pakistan is in on the verge of a possible, one that could result of an islamofacist government that could end up sitting on nukes.
