PARIS (AP) — French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Wednesday that rioters who shot at police would be brought to justice as violence that rocked Paris suburbs appeared to ebb.It was the first time Sarkozy, who had just returned from China, entered the fray since the rioting broke out Sunday night. The violence, which Sarkozy called "unacceptable," eased Tuesday night after police were deployed in force and quickly rounded up youths lobbing Molotov cocktails and setting cars ablaze.
The violence has drawn comparisons with riots that raged through suburbs nationwide in 2005, and has shown that anger still smolders in poor housing projects where many Arabs, blacks and other minorities live largely isolated from the rest of society.
"We will find the shooters," and they will "be brought to account before justice," Sarkozy said after meeting with a wounded police captain hospitalized in Eaubonne north of Paris.
The violence erupted Sunday after the deaths of two minority teens whose motorscooter collided with a police car in Villiers-le-Bel, a blue-collar town on Paris' northern edge.

At the very least there's someone who's wanting to prosecute those responsible- we couldn't even get that response before. If Sarkozy is so much a "Law and Order" leader, why was there not a plan ready for this highly anticipated riot, to either get medieval on these "Youths", or at least deal with them effectively?

Did you happen to see the quote that the torching of 138 cars Tuesday night was hailed as "things being close to normal"? Apparently someone could say that since on a "normal" night, i.e. one without rioting(?), about 100 cars are torched throughout France.

There is only one way to stop these riots. Cordon off the entire suburb with soldiers. Then tighten the noose by shooting anyone on the streets, no questions asked and no mercy.

When the Rodney King Riots erupted live in 92' through the eyes of copter TV cameras in South Central Los Angeles, police units were seen scurrying away from the obviously violent developing scenes. The excuse to vacate an area that found officers almost overwhelmed came across unit radios as staged and somewhat ambiguous. The radio transmissions appeared more as an excuse to retreat from the hot spot of the violence that left innocent pedestrians and drivers at the mercy of the quickly gathering thugs. The LAPD was failing to live up to its motto so boldly printed on the side of each police unit (protect and serve). Officers were ordered back to a staging area miles from the growing violence by the area commander. The copters, and the news casters watched in horror along with TV viewers as the violence escalated and kept asking ;were are the police units as people were being pulled from their vehicles and beaten? The TV cameras were also on in the Los Angeles city counsel chambers as a politically correct mayor and city councilmen urged patience and restraint by the Police. This dichotomy looked foolish to those who were watching the TV. News casters kept asking what is the matter with these people? They Don't seem to have a clue as to what is happening just a few miles south of the city hall. Officers would report later that they were enraged at their commanders for not allowing them to go in and do their job as they were being held back for foolish PC reasons. The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Dept. which is the largest sheriffs dept in the country was also asked by the LAPD not to enter the fray and that they could handle the riot themselves, It took almost 30 hours before the LAPD would throw in the towel and ask for assistance from the Sheriffs Dept. Because of the failure to respond the violence escalated to unmanageable proportions and moved into neighboring cities all over the county. A week later as over 3,500 officers and national guard patrolled an area where hundreds of businesses laid in ruins, hundreds of vehicles were burned, and nearly 60 people were dead, and hundreds injured with estimated damages at nearly 3 billion dollars and climbing.
In the aftermath of this devastating riot, the cities,counties and the state of California adapted a "Zero Tolerance plan" and at any hint of a potential disturbance of this kind again, it will be met with the full force of police agencies without any interference from the PC crowd whatsoever--- another words the police will do their job no matter what.

In the West we have become so accustomed to hearing about disorder that a hundred or so burnt out cars are not regarded as significant. The price of freedom is that some will abuse that freedom for nefarious purposes.
In regimes with a lower tolerance of crime, the crime rate is inevitably lower. Yet for a homogenous, cohesive community, an authoritarian regime need not impact on freedom for those who obey the law, because the law is based on what is acceptable to that community.
In "diverse" communities with high immigrant populations, people do not necessarily agree on what is acceptable behaviour, therefore, in order to avoid offending those people or imposing excessive restrictions on them, there will inevitably be a wider definition of what freedom entails.

To add to what Mackie said about the LA riots. Things were so out of control that not only was the National Guard deployed, but the Federal Army was brought in, as well as the Marines, and FBI teams. But to me the most memorable moments were scene of shop owners and others shooting back at the looters. As far as I'm concerned, the only crime they commited is if they missed. Later on when the Federal trials of the officers came around, the gangs were once again threatening to riot, and this time would target the "white suburbs". That tune changed when the news reported that people in those "white suburbs" were lined up around the block at gun shops. Suddenly calls for rioting changed to calls for peace. Hmmmmm! More recently during the aftermath of Katrina, while things were bad in many places, other places remained under control due to citizens patroling their own neighborhoods and using slogans such as "You loot, I shoot". I doubt the French would ever take a lesson from these examples, they wouldn't want to be "cowboys". As if being a cowboy was such a terrible thing.

'Unacceptable' is the language of negotiation, it is the language of labor and management. It is grotesque applied to violence, arson and attempted murder with guns.
The banlieue apartments are (by the standards of anyone who has been poor or working class or lived in the former Soviet Union) sumptuous, certainly dreary and inelegant but really astonishingly modern and far better than U.S. public housing for the poor. The South Central area of Los Angeles likewise consists largely of somewhat aging but attractive landscaped bungalows with little yards and comfortably lower middle class to absolutely middle class amenities.
THE PROBLEMS IN BOTH PLACES ARE GANGS OF YOUNG MEN. Almost all crime of all sorts in the world is committed by young single males in their teens and twenties. The problems are sexual and George Gilder outlined them succinctly twenty or so years ago. Phyllis Chesler has shown how Islam has forged this demographic into a murderous and barbaric weapon.

When and where? Any in the West who do so are immediately arrested. Not even firing in defense of your own domicile is allowed unless you are first threatened, though some areas are looking to change that.
The French would never shoot back. That might make them appear like Americans, a fate worse (to them) than death.
The media report these as attacks by "young people" with no justification given. That doesn't mean the rioters don't have a cause, just that they haven't let us know what it is. Only on one newscast was there a throwaway line that the riots were occuring in "African" and "Arab" areas. Jihad never crossed their lips. Instead they implicitly blamed the French for not doing enough to make immigrants feel welcome.
Sarkozy is a good man. Will he give in or stand up to the rioters? Given most French attitudes toward those "uncouth" Americans, it's hard to resist the slightest bit of schadenfreude. Not very Christian of me, but c'est la vie.
Are there any French citizens that are patriotic enough to step past the PC French police and take back their city by force?

One would think with this kind of rioting, the army should be called in. However, the percentage of muslim soldiers in the French army is thought to be between 10 and 20 percent.

But the UK media describe the riots as being caused by "morrocan youths from the poorest parts of France".
But this is the same media that have ignored the riots in Amsterdam.
I wonder why Morrocan youths would be rioting? Maybe they are Christian youths? Or Buddhist youths (we all know the violence that lot cause.......), oh, hang on, perhaps it's the hindus. If there was a will to really solve this problem, it could be done very easily:
Special courts should be set up to accompany police during riot situations. The courts should be instructed to deport anyone participating in a riot, including parents, spouses, children and siblings of a rioter.
Deportation should be immediate, and without appeal.
Police shold be instructed to shoot anyone brandishing a gun, Molotov coctail, or other deadly weapon.
It's that simple.

MY COMMENT:
During the 1992 LA riots, armed cirtzens were out and about protecting their neighborhoods. Rioters did not enter these citizen-protected neighborhoods.
Korean merchants in or near the main riot areas did shoot and, as I recall, did score quite a few hits.
PMK: when push comes to shove, and when "youts" or whoever is threatening to storm into your neighborhood where you have wife and children, you do not worry about what "is allowed." You do what you must to protect the lives of your family and your own.
Why are Moslems hesitant about rioting in the US? Because they are unsure of the American people's reaction--or they are sure of it. Most likely the % or Moslems is not yet high enough for them to "feel their oats" and start anything.
When and if they ever do, do not expect a docile population to allow mayhem without reprisals--unless law enforcement and National guard (alas most now nation-building in Iraq and acting as "observers" along the border) quell the riots rapidly, not allowing them to spill out of the rioters own neighborhoods.
Riot conditions when you are being shot at very scary. A long time ago, in a different incarnation, I was a reserve police officer, called for riot duty. I was in a line of officers facing about 50 rioters. The officer to my left, about three feet away, had the visor of his helmet shot off, by a sniper.
Everyone took cover...That actually broke up that phase of the riot, because nearly all the officers took their guns out. The rioters saw that, and took off running in every direction. Some arrests were made but not of the shooter. At another phase of this same problem, I was issued a shot gun and told to hide in the Bushes, and shoot anyone attacking the police station. I was the only officer out there, just me and them, how did I get myself into this? 'Please Mr Custer, I don't want to go', was taking on a special meaning. Fortunately nothing happened. There were some suspicious cars full of people doing slow drive bys but they did nothing.
Whew! I think the French police have it way tougher than that...I hope they are up to the task...
As Le Pen said when he lost the French Presidential elections, "The French must like the riots as they continue to vote for people that won't actually do anything about it."

Everybody here - I was reading the latest report in the Jerusalem Post, about these events.
The two young men who got killed (killed themselves, I suspect), are actually NAMED. One was Lakhami, aged 16; the other was Mouhsin, aged 15. No surnames, but they do sound like Muslim names, to me.
The wording of the report is interesting. "The motorbike IGNORED TRAFFIC RULES (this appears to be a common pattern for Muslims everywhere in the Bilad al-Kufr; think of the number of would-be jihad raiders who have been caught, or nearly caught, because of traffic violations), AND CRASHED INTO THE POLICE VEHICLE. The bike was unregistered (again: refusal to conform to those pesky Infidel rules), neither of the teens was wearing a helmet, and the bike was GOING AT MAXIMUM SPEED [I assume this means they were speeding]." OOOO-KAAY.
Two possible interpretations. 1: death by stupidity - two fine candidates for the 2007 Darwin Awards (stupidity compounded by typical Muslim disdain for all non-Muslim rules, e.g. traffic regulations).
Alternatively, 2. Traffic jihad. They DELIBERATELY rammed the police car at full speed. They knew they might get killed but they didn't care. Indeed, they were probably hoping to pick a fight, or the whole incident was planned so as to provide a pretext for a fight. What if they were TOLD BY SOMEONE - go out and ram a police car, make it crash, kill the Infidels and go to paradise?
This is not just a random thought. Further down in the article - or in another one on the same topic, also in JPost, I found the following - "rioters tried to set some buildings on fire by crashing burning cars into them", and again, "Rioters even rammed burning cars into buildings trying to set the structures on fire". It's not clear from the article whether this is people pushing the car from outside it, like a battering ram, or whether there was someone inside the car driving/steering it.
I'm not going to go into details, here. But...when you're on the road in a Muslim area, perhaps you have to start thinking Demolition Derby.
1. A significant - and unknown - proportion of Muslim drivers are likely, consciously or even unconsciously, to be paying absolutely no regard to those silly Infidel traffic rules, or even to such rules as the requirement that cars undergo servicing and roadworthiness checks. They will, therefore, be a danger to themselves and to others. We non-Muslim drivers had better watch out. Memo to any Infidel policeman reading this - DO NOT LET A MUSLIM DRIVER GET AWAY WITH TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS NO MATTER HOW SMALL. ENFORCE THE RULES TO THE LETTER. And if you catch a Muslim speeding, or without rego, etc. - check their ID, check their record, and turn them and their vehicle upside down and shake them, to see what falls out. Remember the highway police who stopped two Muslims for speeding and discovered that the boot was full of explosives.
2. Sooner or later - and who knows whether it has not happened already, without being recognised as such? - Sudden Jihad Syndrome will manifest on the roads. Under the dhimma, Muslims were encouraged to shove non-Muslims aside into the gutter. What happens when that attitude is taken onto the freeway?
And as for every vehicle that bears the mark of an institution of the Infidel state - the bus, the schoolbus, the ambulance, the postie's bike or van, the fire engine, the police car - sooner or later one may expect the conscienceless Mohammedan to do what these two stupid Muslim lads did, in France, or worse.
Defensive Driving takes on a whole new meaning, these days.
It is very disappointing to see a society willing to allow this type of physical assault against itself. In current times, a scene like this could never occur in, let's say, Texas. Attackers burning cars and buildings would be met by citizens willing to defend their rights to life and property, and they would likely do so through their Second Amendment rights. Personally, if a gang of thugs came onto my property to burn my belongings and terrorize my family, they would not be met with attempts to understand their anger, but rather a volley of Winchester .308. Stand up and defend yourselves and never submit.

......WHEN the crowd swell to more than 10, the alarm bells should be ringing off the wall....it is really easy to sense imminent violence...you know....the fist waving...the shouting of hate slogans...the throwing of small objects....things being set afire...the cries of "Allllaaaahhhh Akkkkbaaarrrr".....the rapid appearance of yoots en mass...seemingly appearing out of the woodwork almost as if on que...could it be that the bike crash was a form of suicide bombing intended to create a reaction as was witnessed?....the thought did cross my infidel mind....
