Are these operations being carried out by female nurses with instructions shouted down the corridor from a male surgeon? I hope so.

And just when you thought Islam could not possibly come out with anything more ridiculous than what they have already presented to the world, they have once again out done themselves. Way to go!!!

Well it is simply because the feminists here are so busy bullying the western white males (incidently the target of martimonial sites for ladies all over the world who want one over their own men) that they say nothing of what happens to Asian and Black women...

You may indeed see this as a "sharia alert"... but down below there is a more fundamental issue.

Where is the disgrace in being a virgin on your wedding night...this keeps the wedding night special, something the modern kaffur knows little about.

The situation in the corrupt west regarding this is a nonsense....there will be virtually no womens who are virgins on their wedding night...utterly dispicable....why it's almost considered a sin to be a virgin these days.... where are your moral standards gone, what would Jesus PBUh have to say about this.

I vividly remember my own wedding night...I finished my degree at a uni in the UK at the age of 21 (where I met my Anwer, who as luck would have it was an Ahmadi too and had come to study from Lahore there) and we fell in love.

I went and got married in PAK to Anwer(25 years ago now) some 2 years later and moved into Anwer's house in Lahore with his parents as the extended family was a very noble institution at the time.

Both Anwer's Ami and Abu jaan were pleased as punch...as them welcomed naseem into the family.

I too was happy, I married the man I loved... anyway on our wedding night Ami jaan came along and spread a white sheet on our bed...which confused the hell out of me..."but Ami jaan...this could get ruined"...

"Naseem...hush!!" she said...."drink this milk and just make sure you sleep on the sheet".

In the morning Ami Jaan came in and whipped the soiled white sheet before you I could say "Ahhhh Ammmmi!"

Anyway, I bathed, got dressed in the bright red salwar kameez chosen for me, went downstairs for breakfast, and lo behold...the neighbourhood womens are there and Ami Jaan is displaying the soiled sheet to them...proud and pleased and punch.....I heard her say "see she is from the UK but still she was paak (pure)for my Anwer...and Anwer made her sweat"....

"Mashallah, Mashalla" the womens replied....and I was like sooooooooo emmbarrassed.

They came to me and acknowledged my purity...and I immediately became accepted and a hit in the neighbourhood, it kinda cemented mine and Anwer's relationship....my own Ami in the UK rang me later that day and "congratulated" me.

I hope you can see that these ceremonies are VERY important to muslims amd muslimas...and this is not "sharia alert"....it's part of our culture.

Please do not judge us with your own low standards that are in free fall....

Well, speaking as a British woman of ethnic origin, let me make it clear. The British NHS should simply not be paying for a cosmetic procedure that is unnecessary, demeaning to women and totally at odds with modern British culture.

The report accompanying the figures is too politically correct to identify the religion of the women who have had the operation, but it's my informed guess that most of them - all of them, perhaps - will turn out to be Muslim.

But I'm also angry that the NHS has agreed to carry them out. By paying for and performing such operations, the NHS isn't furthering the integration of the Muslim community into the British way of life; in fact, it's doing quite the opposite.

It's effectively condoning an increasingly fundamentalist Islamic culture that is patriarchal, regressive and increasingly demeaning to women. Surely that has no place in the Britain of today?

I have heard of a variation of that practice that used to be followed by some in the U.S. Here it was the new husband who would save the blood-stained sheet as proof that his bride was pure; in later years he would proudly display it to his cronies. It's all rubbish, however. If virginity is so important to Moslem women before marriage, let them look to preserving it. If they cannot wait, then let them be protected from murderous relatives by a fair and effective police force and judiciary, capable of interdicting and punishing attempted "honor" killings. "Honor" killings have no place anywhere in the modern world, least of all in the West. Medical services of this kind not only place a burden upon the medical services, they help promote Moslem mores in Western society. This is not just a practise limited to poorly educated British Muslims. Not long ago, I formed a close friendship with a female muslim doctor. She was highly educated in the field of genetics and was quite attentive to what I said about the life of mohammed and the koran. She seemed curious about the Banyu Quraiza, Asma Bint Marwan and the age of Aisha and agreed to check all the facts for herself.

In fact I even thought I was on the well on the way of making first muslim convert to unislam.

The topic of hymen replacement surgery came up more than once. I asked whether she would do it, fully expecting a negative response.

She replied that she could never marry a non-muslim, and if she felt that her future husband would expect a bloody sheet in the morning, then she would do the operation without hesitation.

Kind of like putting toothpaste back into the tube, impossible.

Here's something I've never been able to understand: I know the male suicide bombers look forward to the 72 (female) virgins...But what do FEMALE suicide bombers hope for? Is it 72 MALE virgins, or what?

I've read well over 100 comments from two articles about this and only two, both from muslims, thought this was a good idea. One muslim said the girls were probably raped and the other said this was SO important that it was needed and important.

So, they are paying for cosmetic surgery. Stupid.

If the husband finds out later that she had this surgery can't he sue or divorce based on fraud or false pretense?

I just saw a revolting sight while standing in line at the P.O. There was a display of Holiday stamps behind glass and I looked at them. We've got a Madonna/Child painting, good. We've got a Jewish Hannukah stamp, good. And we've got ---first time ever --- a Muslim stamp.

I kid you not. It's blue w/green writing. Says "EID" at the top, scribblescratch Islamic writing in the middle, and GREETINGS at the bottom.

I said outloud, "Oh. My. God." Others in line heard me register shock, but no one asked me what I was gasping about. Such American complacency.

6 measly years after 9/11 we have a Muslim stamp at Christmas - how? Truly, I don't get it. It's an outrage. I e-mailed the usps and told 'em what I thought of their Muslim stamp.

Rawalpindi Rose (aka Naseem) finds no irony in the fact that she attended university in the UK, but now loves to slam it and indeed all of the West. No doubt since she has such an interest in "honour" she has repaid her debt to the British taxpayer who funds those universities. (By the way, just which university was it which granted a degree to someone who thinks "womens" is the plural of "woman"?)

As for the farce of the blood-stained sheet being evidence of the "pure" bride on her wedding night, do Naseem's people not know that young women menstruate perhaps 6 days out of 28, giving about a 20% chance that some blood could be easily available (if one were interested in deceiving the nosy mother-in-law and the lurking neighbours that is).

Barring that, fresh blood is not so hard to get -- just think razors and pins -- and if the bride is squeamish and the groom complicit in her pre-existing state of "impurity" then what's to stop his skin being the source of the fresh blood? It's all in the name of family honour, you see.

And so the farce can easily be perpetuated to soothe the ill-educated and/or medieval mind.

A little re-education on female anatomy would perhaps reawaken even the sluggish neurons of the Islamosoaked brain. To equate the intactness of a membrane, or quasi-membrane, which may or may not even be present, and its rupture, stretching, or otherwise change with first intercourse (or in a range of other ways, not necessarily sexual), with or without the requisite bleeding, with a woman's state, or non-state, of "purity" is absurd.

And now the NHS is validating this mumbo-jumbo by funding the proceduce of hymen reconstruction. There is something extremely disconcerting about the state-funded medical system of one of the most advanced nations on earth pandering to the market created by the demands of an androcentric and mysogynistic religion.

We all know why the Pharaoh Mohammad made it illegal for Muslim women to marry Christians and Jews! It is because they treat their women like crap. Requiring bleeding on the wedding night, beating their wives, and killing their daughters who shame them. Muslim's demand honour from their wives and Christians/Jews give love.

Women should be free to marry (or not marry) whomever they want. This should be a global human right and we should oppose any group which demands the subjugation of women. Muslims women who renounce Islam, should be given refugee status in order to flee Muslim oppression. Conversely, we should deport any men who hold to these oppressive religious doctrines.

What is particularly sad about this barbaric expectation is that a significant percentage of virgins with an intact hymen will not bleed when penetrated. Sometimes the hymen stretches rather than ruptures, and sometimes the hymen is very minimal, just naturally. There are many different types of hymens (google if you don't believe me), from the minimal ones that form a narrow ring around the interior vagina, leaving a large opening, to those that are completely solid, like a lid on a jar, but may have an opening the size of a pin dot, to those that only formed along one side of the vaginal wall, but not the other side, and are shaped like a half circle. That means that many TRUE virgins will not bleed on their wedding night. What becomes of them? And this culture is so barbaric and ignorant that I'm sure they are not even aware of the medical facts. (Even if they were, the bride must still die . . . because all that matters is blood on the sheets.)

It is disgusting.
