RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - The top Palestinian security official said on Saturday his government was dismantling militant groups, including those connected to President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction.The pledge by Interior Minister Abdel-Razak al-Yahya came one day after Palestinian militants killed two off-duty Israeli soldiers who were hiking near the West Bank city of Hebron. Two of the militants were also killed in an ensuing gun battle.
Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert agreed at a U.S.-sponsored peace conference last month in Annapolis, Maryland to launch negotiations with the goal of reaching a statehood agreement by the end of 2008.
But Israel has said it will not implement any agreement until the Palestinians meet their obligations under the long-stalled "road map" peace plan to rein in militants in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
Hamas Islamists seized control of Gaza in June after routing Abbas's secular Fatah forces there, but Fatah still holds sway in the West Bank.
The Palestinians assert that they are meeting their security obligations in the West Bank by launching a security clampdown in some of the largest cities.
"There is no al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades any more," Yahya told Voice of Palestine radio, referring to Fatah's largest armed group.
He said Abbas's Western-backed government has started "working to dismantle" other militant groups, though he did not spell out how that would be accomplished.
"We wish they (other groups) will respond positively and follow al-Aqsa's example," Yahya said.

Azzam's remarks came in response to earlier statements by Interior Minister of the Western-backed Palestinian government in West Bank saying al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, armed wing of Fatah movement led by President Mahmoud Abbas, was dismantled.

I was watching the history channel about Nazi War Criminals that had escaped after WW II.
Many of the Nazi's highly involved in execution of the final solution fled to Syria where they were hired by the Syrian Secret Police/Intelligence. Their job was to train the Syrians in torture techniques.

The two soldiers were only young - 20 and 21. There was a girl with them - I read elsewhere that she was able to hide from the Jihad raiders when the attack happened.
As the first article Robert posted says, those two young Jewish men were able to kill two of their sneak attackers; the jpost article says they were also able to wound several others.
The 'comments' in the talkback are mostly quite clueless, but one person is on the money - they use the word 'Jihad' in their mini-headline, and it's clear they mean exactly what we mean here.
It's probably worth hopping on over and seeing how much of Hugh's usual discourse concerning the Lesser Jihad Against Israel you can boil down and shoehorn into the limited number of words permitted by a Jerusalem Post talkback comments box.

I have no idea if the site has been hacked or not, but obviously someone has/had access to this information.
I am surprised that JW/DW are not attacked by anti-freedom hackers more often.
I don't check my e-mail too often, but I just did it. Just the normal stuff, offer for cheap watches, porno, on line gambling, and inexpensive vacation rentals in Lahore, Pakistan, probably in Naseem's neighborhood.
I have noticed from time to time, some hostile posters dropping a nasty on an older thread, and then leaving. I suppose this is a stealth tactic, hoping it will go unnoticed but can be retrieved later for propaganda purposes. I don't know that this is a big problem, but I know it has happened...
