"Challenge the jihad, pay with your life"

A surprisingly good editorial for a mainstream media source -- this one is in the Union Leader, "Murder in Pakistan: Hatred all over the world":

SO, THEY don't hate us for our freedoms, eh?

The horrific murder of Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan's best hope for democratic reform, is almost certainly the work of al-Qaida or al-Qaida-linked extremists. You know, the guys who would stop hating us if only we quit pursuing our interests in the Middle East.

Al-Qaida, the Taliban and Islamic extremists in general have long hated Bhutto for her pro-Western sympathies, for opposing their primitive utopianism, and for simply being a woman who dared do a man's job. They have threatened to kill her before, and now a shooter/suicide bomber has done it.

[...]

Anwar Sadat. Benazir Bhutto. Theo Van Gogh. Daniel Pearl. Three thousand Americans on 9/11. The editors of Jyllands-Posten -- almost. Salman Rushdie -- almost. Pervez Musharraf -- almost. We could go on, but maybe you get the point. The message is perfectly clear: Challenge the jihad, pay with your life.

A radical Islamic army seething with rage and delusion grows stronger, slaughtering more and more of our potential allies, as we spend years debating whether, to save our civilization, our warriors should ever be allowed to pretend to drown a captured enemy combatant.

If we don't see this threat with greater clarity, we will lose our chance to thwart its ambitions before it reaches its full strength. What we are seeing is only a taste of what is to come if the jihad is allowed to grow unchecked.

Could this really be the turning point we have all been waiting for when the truth finally starts to shine through the fog of deception.

Please God let it be. No faith in the media though - thus still not holding my breath!

The Union Leader did a good job telling the truth about Islam and jihadism. It is warning about the need for websites such as this one to get the word out about this danger. God Bless and thank-you JW/DW.

It would be nice to think that the Manchester Union-Leader is a "mainstream" paper, reflecting a "mainstream" view. But isn't it quite an unusual paper, with an unusual group of no-nonsense editors?

· Winston Churchill said:

“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

"Hold your ground! Hold your ground!
Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers,
I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me.
A day may come when the courage of men fails,
when we forsake our friends
and break all bonds of fellowship,
but it is not this day.
An hour of wolves and shattered shields,
when the age of men comes crashing down,
but it is not this day!
This day we fight!!
By all that you hold dear on this good Earth,
I bid you stand, Men of the West!!!"

King Aragorn's Benediction - Tolkien's Lord of the Ring

With the sense of this exceptional Manchester Union editorial, let us pray that 'This Day' has finally arrived!

The tyranny of controlling elections by assassination is all too effective. One bullet = way more than one vote. That is why democracy is so precious. As the founding fathers said, "you will have a democracy, if you can keep it." (paraphrased, badly)

Much of the time, Americans don't appear to be able, or interested in, keeping our precious democracy.

...as we spend years debating whether, to save our civilization, our warriors should ever be allowed to pretend to drown a captured enemy combatant.

Isn't this the same paper that endorsed McCain, who has wrung his hands of waterboarding, and attacked Romney, who has refused to designate waterboarding as torture in order not to send signals to the enemy?

"The tyranny of controlling elections by assassination is all too effective. One bullet = way more than one vote." posted by n. a. palm

On the other hand, Americans who are probably in possession of more firearms than the citizens of any other country in the world, still solve our differences in the polling booth and with rhetoric.
We are not burning the banks over the mortgage crisis and affecting the elections with those firearms.

It just goes to show that there IS hope for mankind.

there is a good video on Foxnews.com by John Gibson that the assassination of Bhutto was an attack on America (the West) too and that next president will have to have the resolve to continue the fight. The last 20 seconds of the video are particularly good.

The jihad's methods and ambitions are only a part of the problem. The greater part is the ability of the jihadists to conceal themselves among the relatively innocent. How shall we defeat the Islamofascists if we cannot even identify them until they've struck?

This "low-intensity warfare" isn't even particularly low-intensity any more. But its practitioners and supporters remain capable of hiding until the instant they act. Shall we erect a worldwide police state, abolish all personal liberty and privacy, and develop a monitoring system which George Orwell's Party would have envied? Or shall we grasp the nettle, evict Islam and its adherents from the lands of the civilized, and confine them to those places where their fellows are already in the saddle?

Quarantine or genocide. Take your choice, there is no other -- and your time is running out.

Aunt Bea: My comment was was directed partly at the current crop of presidential candidates; very few of them have commented at all on upholding our glorious constitution. In fact, several of them would trash it if they could.

Also to the voter: do they care about our liberty, or, just what the pandering candidates offer them? Just askin'. Btw, how's Opie?

Good for the Union Leader. About time some editorialists in the US figured out what this war is really about. Enough with the platitudes about poverty or Western culture being the root of all evil in the Islamic world. It sems as if people in the USA are more ruthless when dealing with an escaped tiger than with its enemies.

Likewise Switzerland, where virtually every adult male Swiss has a military carbine with its ammunition in his home, and practices with it several times a year.

One bullet = a million votes...I wonder how many votes Bush is worth? Will the murder of Bhutto alter his plans to visit the MI?

Somehow I knew that would post twice, sorry...

A wake-up call, finally being heard?

Wow. Somebody please, quick, hit the snooze button. We don't want to think about it.

The Manchester Union Leader (New Hampshire) is considered a very conservative newspaper, at least by mainstream media standards.

Thank you for the link to that excellent editorial.

"Anwar Sadat. Benazir Bhutto. Theo Van Gogh. Daniel Pearl. Three thousand Americans on 9/11. The editors of Jyllands-Posten -- almost. Salman Rushdie -- almost. Pervez Musharraf -- almost."

Let us not forget Hrant Dink, editor of the bilingual Turkish-Armenian newspaper Agos, shot on an Istanbul street Jan. 19 by a teenaged assassin who was heard to shout "I shot the infidel" as he left the scene and was shown on Turkish TV after his arrest, posing with the crescent-and-star national flag as his police captors beamed in approval.

Or Fuat Deniz, professor at the University of Orebro in Sweden and researcher on the Ottoman Empire's Assyrian genocide (carried out contemporaneously with the Armenian one), whose throat was cut by an unknown assailant Dec. 11 -- a manner of killing mandated by at least two verses (8:12 and 47:4) of the Qur'an.

Walk heavy and watch your six.

I'll breathe easier when I see this kind of editorial in the large mainstream media, the likes of BBC or NYT, before I give in to the luxury of thinking they are 'getting it'. For now, we must continue to push for the truth, that a 7th century primitive utopian ideal of Sharia is very much breathing down our backs, and that it must be fought tooth and nail with bared teeth. The Truth shall set you free, but only when the threats to our freedoms and civilization had been conquered, not only in the press, but on the world scene. That said, this is a start. We will win this fight, but to do so we must start by cleaning house at home, and check all those 'moderates' so called of Islam we had allowed into our midst. They are the sleeping monster that will kill you, if our public leaders remain unawares.

Battle I do not think that our leaders are unaware ... how could they be. At this time it would be political suicide to voice reality in regards to Islam. Much easier to say things like Islam is a great religion of peace and such. We know the truth though and as much as I'd like to believe that it was true I know saying it over and over and wishing it will never change reality. Unfortunatly it will take the fall of a western democracy to make such things sayable without sacraficing any chance of getting elected. We are already seeing changes in family law in Europe, several cities are already a no go for native Europeans as they fall under Dar al Islam. Only a matter of time before the inverse of todays social silence in this matter becomes the social norm. Soon politicians will have to recognize reality, or give up any chance of getting elected. Just a matter of time the truth in this will pop the bubble of this unreality that many try to live in at this time.

Unless west brings it's corrupt and sell-out politicians in line the future of western democracy and freedom is dark and gloom. Clinton and Bush have sold out America like few can imagine. Clinton was impeached for different reasons Bush famly cashed out selling America for petro-dollars and pesos. Americans still do not realize that their politicians are their Achilles' heel.
With 2008 presidential elections coming up, Americans better put the candidates feet to fire not on health-care and taxation but on immigration and jihad.

Benazir Bhutto was not an anti-jihadi crusader. She was a aristocratic western educated socialist, of proven criminal bent, who was intent on regaining what she considered her inheritence, the leadership of Pakistan.

If she was opposed to the jihadis it was only because they were interfering with her return to power. If should could have harneessed them, she would have. In fact she did little to diminish their hold on power in her army and secret police during her tenure in the PM position. This has led directly to some of the problems that Pakistan is facing now.

She did little to educate and evolve Pakistan, despite all her power and wealth.

Later in life she had taken to carrying a Koran with her and making vague references to it. However her entire education was completely Christian or western secular, from the Convent of Jesus and Mary middle school to Harvard.

Are we really to believe she was a Moslem?

It's a terrible thing she was assassinated, but let' not make of her something she was not. A principled anti-Jihad figure, like Ayaan Hirsi Ali she was not.

Battle I do not think that our leaders are unaware ... how could they be. At this time it would be political suicide to voice reality in regards to Islam. Much easier to say things like Islam is a great religion of peace and such.

If voicing the truth about Islam is political suicide then it's just further proof that people in democracies get the government they deserve.
We want to be told all is sweetness and light, then we will deserve what we get in February.

I say February only because it's more than likely that the candidates for both major parties will be known by Feb. 13, at the latest. If the race is still on, that means the people have decided to take an active part in the election and are willing to listen to the truth. (Let's hope!)

Alert:

What the hell are you talking about? " Clinton was impeached for different reasons". Yes, I'm sure we all remember that. He lied and got others to lie in deposition over a civil suit that he had sexually harrassed a subordinate. There was no doubt he was guilty of perjury, but the Senate did not find that sufficient cause to remove him from office. So? What does Clintons problem have to do with Bhutto or corruption.

As for this claim: "Bush famly cashed out selling America for petro-dollars and pesos.". Oh please! You sound like some leftist nut from Democratic Underground. How did the Bush family "cash out" exactly? Secret funds transfers to W from Vincent Fox? 100 pesos a head per illegal allowed over the border?

Some decades ago, I was a proud paper-boy for the Manchester Union Leader. This was a glorious time before people from Massachusetts started invading my beloved home-land and began turning it into a liberal wasteland. At the time, the Union Leader was probably the most conservative newspaper in the country. This was due to its owner at the time, William J. Loeb. Due to the fact that New Hampshire has the first primary, Mr. Loeb was able to become something of a King-Maker during his day. I am glad to see that some vestige of his conservative common sense still lives on at the publication.

I would encourage those here to add a comment at the Unions site. I just posted a comment explaining who the enemy we are fighting is by asking a question.

As Robert and other identify those who are starting to get it, we should all be responding and cheering them on. I did not link back to JW because I don't think that would be in good taste with the first post. I will monitor and if a lot of talk/comments occur I might provide a link back to this or other related sites.

We'll see 8^).

"If voicing the truth about Islam is political suicide then it's just further proof that people in democracies get the government they deserve."

Too true. I have been informing all that will listen for years now ... I used to get remarks like, "You worry me" .. my reply to remarks like that are ... "After the information I just gave you the only responce is ... "You worry me", well let me say you worry me much more than I worry you let me assure you." Over the years I have been getting much negative feedback, but recently I have been getting more of the ... it appears you have been right all along, and I have followed up on your research, and you are right, and I have read the books you gave me. Let me say Roberts books make exellent presents to your liberal friends for birthdays, Chritsmas etc. I think you are right though we here have less to blame on our politicians about this than we do our fellow citizens whom choose either remain spineless and silent or ignorant. In the end reality plays by its own rules, as a society how much catching up will we need to do when the flow of public consciousness catches up with it if you know what I mean, because reality is definatly playing its own game here. We must keep up effort, as it is all we can do for now.

ethoman,

America has an isolationist heritage and FDR had to drag the country into WWII. Too many must think that we can wait for the new Pearl Harbor. I heard one caller this morning accuse the Bush administration of yet another "false flag" operation - the murder of Benazir Bhutto.
When people will not recognize the danger that faces them because doing so might involve pain or hardship then there's not a whole lot that can be done. They'll just have to go suffer. Preventive medicine can save a lot of pain and suffering in the long term, but it requires people who are in no pain to make sacrifices in the near term. It's a hard sell for doctors. Unless people feel threatened or endangered, they'd rather live in blissful ignorance. It's easier. Politicians will go along because it's easier for them, too. Campaigns that promise new entitlements are way more popular than those that warn of dark days ahead. Exhibit A: Tom Tancredo

Evidence of intelligent life on earth.

Yet, more and more as the truth about Islam and the jihad gets out, with excellent websites such as this, the Islamofacists lose a bit of their strength.

The owner/s of the paper, and the writer of the editorial, need to receive personal congratulations.

They should be receiving a swag of mail applauding them for this no-nonsense editorial and singing out for more! more! (and saying that if they follow through, they will get new subscribers, and that non-dhimmi professionals, companies and small businesses will be buying ad space with them).

By way of confirming their 'take' on Jihad: refer them to chapter 14 of Ayaan Hirsi Ali's "Infidel", pages 268-274 where she discusses 9/11 and her gut reaction to it - "But it *is* about Islam. This is based in belief. This is Islam" - guided by her own insider experience of the teachings and ideals of the Muslim Brotherhood, and her own knowledge of the Quran and Hadith.

She writes, "I could no longer avoid seeing the totalitarianism, the pure moral framework that is Islam...True Islam as a rigid belief system and a moral framework, leads to cruelty [the casual everyday cruelty she had seen in Saudi Arabia, as a child]. The inhuman act of those nineteen hijackers was the logical outcome of this detailed system for regulating human behaviour. *Their world is divided between 'Us' and 'Them' - if you don't accept Islam, you should perish*".

If the Manchester Union Leader can follow through on this editorial, by unvarnished undhimmified coverage of the 'jihad news', they could be a contender in a new section (Media Division) of the Anti-Dhimmi Awards.

Im.mad.as.HELL! wrote As Robert and other identify those who are starting to get it, we should all be responding and cheering them on. Top suggestion - Done it

A wise observation. Most of those running for our high office have been talking, about Pak getting back right away on the race to democracy. McCain, Edwards, Hillary, Obama, BUSH, all have pushed for democracy, to keep after that prize.

Mitt Romney instead focused on islam, and the threat of jihad. The only one who I heard mention this clear threat, the only one. Tom endorsed him for this ,among other reasons, I am sure.

As far as democracy, it looks like Pakistan understands it much better than most, just stay tuned.

Thank-you Manchester Union Leader for the courage of your convictions. This newspaper with the head of my Church, Pope Benedict16, are both profiles in courage for speaking the TRUTH about Islam and jihad. God Bless both.

"If we don't see this threat with greater clarity, we will lose our chance to thwart its ambitions before it reaches its full strength. What we are seeing is only a taste of what is to come if the jihad is allowed to grow unchecked."
God damn! If that ain't a bumper sticker for an SUV...

At least one person in NH knows what is going on. What to do with the rest of the residents of the State is another matter.
