Ecuadoran police find arsenal, Osama bin Laden photos

Jihad in the Andes. The Tiny Minority of Extremists™ certainly appears to have fanned out all over the globe. From Xinhua (thanks to Twostellas):

QUITO, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadoran police reported Friday they had seized an arsenal and Osama Bin-laden photos in a house in Santa Elena province, some 560 km southwest of Quito, and made one arrest.

The police raided a house in Manabi neighborhood of Anconcito in Salinas.

They found Osama bin Laden Photos, shooting practice targets, 37 high caliber weapons and 2,680 cartridges.

Ecuador. Great. Another class of "economic migrants" who cannot be kept out of the US without our being charged with anti-Hispanic bigotry.

Come one, come all.

Yes, Equador, that well known oppressor of the Palestinians.

Crikey, they'll be blowing up the galapagos islands next.

I don't even want to speculate as to how they may have used the photos.

Another islamaniac discovered.

How reliable, in general, is Xinhua as a source of news?

And why would a Chinese (mainland Chinese?) news agency report a manifestation of Jihad plotting in South America?

Are they getting jittery? Competition?

They found Osama bin Laden Photos, shooting practice targets

Yep, that's how I would have used them too.

Ecuador actually IS known to have been the location of al-Qaeda sleeper cells--the tip off was its exceptionally high incidence of 'kidnappings' (ransome monies gotten may have been benefiting al-Qaeda activists throughout Latin America). Other Latin American nations where this is probably also true: Panama, Honduras(there are Islamic settlements on Honduras' Caribbean coast, which has a notoriously high violent crime rate and tourists have been known to be targets of violent crimess there), Guyana, Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. There may be other countries. Among Caribbean countries Trinidad and Tobago may very well possess al-Qaeda sleeper cells, and, in 2000, a suspicious massacre in a Bahamanian cathedral (quickly and efficiently hushed up by the government there for obvious reasons) where hundreds of Christian Bahamanians were found murdered probably indicates there is significant al-Qaeda activities there too.

Hizbollah, al-Qaeda's ugly twin sister, has been shown to be active in (at least)Venezuela and Uruguay among Latin American countries.

My my-these jihadists turn up in the strangest places. Only one other thing can be found in so many places in the world-cockroaches. Jihadists need to be dealt with in a similar manner to cockroaches no matter where they're found.

Pythagoras,

Thanks for this elaboration.
