Nearly 15 years after the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and 6 years after 9/11, the federal agencies responsible for our domestic security against terrorism appear to be entirely unaware, unequipped and unconcerned about the continued operations of Islamic terrorists inside the US.Exhibit A in support of this thesis is the recent fundraising visit to the US by major Somali terrorist leader Zakaria Mahmoud Haji-Abdi. Abdi is deputy chairman of the Eritrean-based Alliance for the Re-Liberation of Somalia (ARS). The ARS is organizationally integrated with the al-Qaeda-backed Islamic Courts Union (ICU), which is waging the deadly terrorist insurgency in Somalia against the UN and US recognized Transnational Federal Government (TFG). The insurgency is responsible for the violence that has caused the deaths of nearly 6,000 Somalis this year in Mogadishu alone and forced at least another half million refugees to flee from there.
Abdi was the keynote speaker at a fundraising event and conference hosted by the United Somali Diaspora and held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Minneapolis on November 24. An article published the following day by SomaliTalk (in Somali) features numerous pictures of the event, documenting Abdi’s attendance. (Minneapolis is home to the largest Somali population in the country.) A follow-up conference was held the following weekend at the Days Inn in Falls Church, VA, (right outside Washington, D.C.) by United Somali Diaspora and several other US-based Somali groups.

According to one law enforcement source familiar with Abdi’s recent visit, the Department of Homeland Security was contacted more than a week before the Minneapolis conference. The agency determined that, since Abdi did not have a Social Security Number (he is neither a US citizen or resident) and it was not known where he would enter the US from, nothing could or would be done to stop his visit. Repeated phone calls and emails from this reporter to the DHS public affairs office asking for explanation on why Abdi was allowed in the country did not receive a reply.
The failure of Homeland Security to act in any way to keep Abdi out of the country prompted heated criticism of the agency by Steven Emerson of the Investigative Project on Terrorism. “It is absolutely scandalous that federal authorities cannot or will not stop jihadists from entering the US. Homeland Security should be called Homeland Insecurity,” Emerson said.

The money we could save by getting rid of TSA, Homeland Security, the CIA and The FBI, would be tremendous. Just think of the tax savings and we could have real government sponsored health care. Who knows what else could be done with all this wasted money.

...I hope someone was clever enough to have video taped all who attended as they entered and left....as well as documenting all motor vehicle tag numbers of motor vehicles that parked in the parking lots....and then run a cross check on all names uncovered and photographs taken against the names and photos on the terror watchlist....Did anyone get a transcript of the speeches given and then have the speeches checked over by intelligence code breakers...(Muslims transmit a lot of coded messages on the internet, on phone calls, in printed material, and in speeches).....were any in attendence in the country on expired visas? were any in attendence in the country illegally? were the majority of those in attendence males?.....were undercover agents in attendence? were undercover agents in the motels, restaurants, or parking lots?.....were the caterers of the event checked out?....
...Did our security forces even know about the event?.....
...preserve civilization....ban Muslim Immigration..
Aunt Bea is right-why do we have all these agencies that supposedly defend us? They either do nothing or are constantly being hamstrung. Looks like we will need an extra special event that kills millions before our "leaders" finally quit playing games.
Had the West operated like this in WW2 most of us would either be slaves or dead thanks to Japan and Germany running the world.

This is why I don't live in Minneapolis any longer. Too many Muslims, and too many Democrats; a lethal combination.
The Bush Administration has failed to win the support necessary for dealing inside this country with those pursuing or aiding Jihad. On every front it has failed. Whether it is Muslims coming to fundraise for causes associated with violent Jihad, Saudi and other Arab money coming in to pay for the building, and then the maintenance, including the staffing, of mosques, the takeover by apoloigits for Islam, systematically hiring and promoting each other, of many university and college courses in subjects related to Islam, the attempt to frighten or bully everyone from talkshow hosts to campus speakers into silence or submission, or the winning of convictions in terrorism-related cases (a failure based partly on prosecutorial incompetence, but mostly bedause the Administration lacks the intelligence or ability to demand the setting up of special courts, with panels of judges trained and sufficient to the task).
It has failed because it has used up all of its political capital on the Iraq venture. That venture, some now think, can "succeed" but they never tell us what that "success" would be in any detail, or how that would weaken the Camp of Islam.
What began as a naive and sentimental belief that "Iraqis" would
1) greet Americans as "liberators"
2) forget or overcome -"they're just going to have to" said Condolleezza Rice in a characteristic display of ignorant self-assurance -- their deep sectarian and ethnic resentments and hatreds and desire to keep or to seize power.
3) exhibit a capacity for rational behavior and a wilingness to compromise with enemies, that is not possible given the Victor-Vanquished attitude that Islam fosters, for while in Islam the Victors are the Believers and the Vanquished are the Infidels, those raised on Islam have no difficulty applying the same categories to intra-Muslim situations.
This squandering in Iraq (and to a much lesser extent in Afghanistan) continues, and may continue for quite a while, lowering morale of both civilians and the military, and a further weakening of the officer corps in the American army (where have all the captains gone? where are they going?)if the next admnistration, whatever it may be, does not come to its senses about Islam. For the only way out of Iraq that is politically palatable is that based on a coherent strategy of furthering ( in the case of Iraq that is best done by leaving), the fissures -- sectarian, ethnic, and economic -- within the Camp of Islam.

When people ask my why I moved from Too close to Orlando Florida to an undisclosed rural location I give them all kinds of economic excuses when I really want to yell at the top of my lungs. There aren't any Muslims here!

Is this reporter totally CLUELESS???? Does he think he can just call the DHS and have someone answer the phone?????
My wife (legally) immigrated from P.R. China and we have spent 4 years of hell dealing with these people.
The majority of the time you can't get anyone to answer the phone, and when you do get someone, they refuse to give you any information.
At one point, after repeated unanswered calls for status on her application, we were told her application was sitting in a stack of applications TO BE DESTROYED!!!
My wife is in this country legally, and we were complemented in our DHS/INS interview as to how we had been meticulous in following the rules and playing their game.
But it was supposed to take 2 years, and its already taken over 4 years, and most of the time we have been left in the dark with no response from DHS/INS as to her status.
And yet, if she was an illegal Mexican, she would have all kinds of politicos advocating for her instant citizenship!

Aunt Bea, real government sponsored healthcare is a wreck, if you're sick that is. If you don't need urgent medical care, such as cancer or something horrible like that, I guess it's OK. So you want the same people who run the post office to run the healthcare system? Are you kidding?
