Throwing the jihadists a bone in the form of the Serbian province of Kosovo still dominates official thinking (if one can call it that) in Washington. Counter Walid Phares:
Will the US also please the Wahhabis by forcing India to relinquish Kashmir, the Philippines to let go of Mindanao, Russia to cut Chechnya loose, Cyprus to abandon its Turkish north and last but not least, Israel to slice out half of the Galilee to its own Muslim minority? Playing this Jihadi-inspired card would ultimately strengthen al Qaeda's lexicon of "Islamic causes" at the expense of potential legitimate causes for ethnic minorities, including those who happen to be of Muslim background. Western gaming of these crises with an Islamic dimension, including Kosovo, can only backfire and cause even more tension.
After Kosovo is handed over, then what? All of Serbia? All of the Balkans? We all know the Koranists never are satisfied with any gains-they just demand more and more. Never mind calling Europe "Eurabia"- at this rate it'll be called the Caliphate of Europe soon enough.
What is the stand of the leading presidential candidates on both sides on this issue? Hilary (would her policy be identical to BJ)? Giuliani? Obama? Romney? Others? Does anyone else oppose this?
We'd better get our troops out of the Balkans before the Russians and Serbs are forced to fight them.
Do we really want to get into a civil war on the side of Islamic narcoterrorists? Has anyone actually considered what this can do to national legitimacy? This is the worst precedent since the fall of the Roman Empire. Carving out little Islamic states all over the globe, here Greater Albania, isn't a solution to anything but the lack of civil wars in a few remaining "nations."
When it's Michiganistan I'm already in favor of letting it go.
This is another example of what I think of as "bright-line stepping." It's as though nobody every learned the most basic principle of geopolitics: stay out of the Balkans. The Russians and Serbs have a deep cultural and religious connection to Kosovo which seems to hurt them in a conflict with Islam: which always comes first. Our Congress loves the idea of pleasing the Muslims with a new Islamic state in Europe as though there couldn't possibly be a downside.
Is Congress also on board with a Balkans war possibly/probably involving Russia?
Mind Orthodox Christians hating us for the next 800 years?
Comparable to the betrayal of 1204, IMO. If you don't know about the betrayal of 1204 off the top of your head you probably shouldn't be involved with Orthodox issues.
Someone needs to ask Congress, and quickly.
One last observation.
While keeping a cordon sanitaire around so-called Nazis, it's probably best not to side with Albanians, who filled up several enthusiastic Waffen SS divisions.
..Chamberlain threw the Nazis Czechoslovakia and .....yeah, that really prevented death....
...Is Kosovo becoming another Czechoslovakia?....
...quit giving in to Muslims...Ban Muslim Immigration...
Even assuming that one could not get it through the thick skulls of Western leaders as to why, in Kosovo, mere head-counting is not the end of the matter, and why what would be seen, and not merely for a matter of weeks or months (as some argue an American withdrawal from Iraq would be misintrepreted -- but if so, that misperception can soon be undone) as a triumph for Islam should not be permitted.
Mere head-counting would, as Walid Phares notes, force India to give up Kashmir to Muslim rule (with all that that would mean for the Hindus and other non-Muslims), and similar demands could, with equal force, be made in the Russian Caucasus, or in Xinjiang, or for that matter, in a few years, in Malmo, Rotterdam, and large parts of Marseille, London, and other Western metropolises. Is that it? A head-count? Or are there other considerations, that involve the necessity, the duty, not to give this triumpalist and doubly-supremacist (Muslim, Arab) Total Belief-System a victory, for that will always be taken as a signal that Allah is with them, that they are on the sure path toward victory, and can keep on, and on, and on.
We'll reap what we've sown. Just wait.
U.N Resolution 1244 clearly states 'Kosovo is
a Province of Serbia who retains sovereignty over
it'.Also that Serbia has the right to keep its police in its own territory...
U.S,U.K & E.U are guilty of a barefaced Land grab
when they rip portions of a Sovereign State apart
to satisfy their own [not too secret] agenda.
What the hell are they doing there anyway-isn't the conflict supposed to be between the Serbs &
Kosovo Albanians? 'Humanitarian Intervention' has nothing to do with it-what is HUMANITARIAN about dropping tons of depleted uranian bombs on
civilians-which fell not only on Serbia but Kosovo
too?
Why was it okay for Britain to go to war to retain
'sovereignty over the Falklands'yet denies & demonizes Serbia for doing the same thing?
Germany [& Vatican] were prompt in detaching Slovenia & Croatia from former Yugloslavia-Serbia
historically has been Germany's enemy-so it is ironic indeed to listen to Germany's 'holier than
thou'comments & propaganda against Serbs in light
of their own terrible atrocities & genocide
against Serbs aided by Albanians and Bosnian Muslims in WW2.
Why is it okay to allow Kosovo[which was never a
state] to separate but not allow the Bosnian Serbs
to do so??
U.S in particular has a lot to answer for in Kosovo. Why should Albanians even try for a solution when Bush brazenly assured them U.S would
recognize their 'Independence'-then got his watch
stolen!
Well this hornet's nest stirred up by vipers ain't
going to go away. The palpable unfairness, blatant
two faced standards & hipocrisy of U.S &n E.U are
beginning to be noticed by people previously unsure exactly where Kosovo was. As an American
President once famously remarked;
"YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME.
BUT YOU CAN'T FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME."
Serbia has been done a grave wrong & like U.S funding the Taliban-this mistake will be back to
haunt them...
We will reap what Clinton and Bush have already sown -- disaster!
The harvest will be bountiful alright and at this rate the islamists will grow fat on the blood, flesh, and bones of the West.
Why are we insisting that this must happen to our peril?
Why is the US government so pro-Muslim in its attitude? Why is it that it can be relied on to take the Muslim side in any conflict? Now we see that it has abandoned even its most loyal ally - Israel.
