This is rooted deep in Muslim belief. Islam teaches that every human person is ordained only to be a slave of God (Allah) and that the sole purpose for which we were created is to submit to this slavery. This is in contrast to Christianity which recognizes the Incarnation as having liberated us from slavery and made us heirs of the Divine.
In the Byzantine Liturgy this Dec. 25's midnight Epistle reading told us:
"God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, `Abba, Father.' So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir" (Galations 4:6-7)
This is what most separates the way we Christians should live our lives from the way Muslims are required to live theirs. Islam takes each person and the societies they dominate back to that fallen state of enslavement to sin and death, while Jesus Christ liberates us from that slavery. As Christians we see every human person as having intrinsic value. Not only are we in the "image and likeness of God" but we are also his children.
So during this Nativity Season, let's all pray that the Holy Spirit will move with mercy and power throughout the Muslim world, liberating them from the darkness that now enslaves them and bring them to the light of Truth.

I learned from my son-in-law that Hindus in India have family gatherings during the Christmas holidays. Although it is not a religious celebration for Hindus, they get caught up in the spirit. Christmas seems to be a uniting force for everyone, except of course, the you-know-whats.
Even athiests and agnostics can appreciate the Christmas spirit; however, four days after the winter solstice is a peculiar time to celebrate the birth of someone who was born in the spring.
Merry Christmas to everyone, er, excuse me, "Happy Winter Holiday", as the local middle school posted on their little marquee sign.

My calendar had Hanukkah marked on it, and in any case I check Jerusalem Post and the Dry Bones cartoon blog online daily, so I certainly know which festivals are happening - and I do recall that on one of the jihadwatch or dhimmi watch threads at that time I posted a Hanukkah greeting addressed to all Jewish posters and lurkers.
Anyway, during that period I was thinking of you and all Jews in Israel and around the world, and praying most fervently that the Holy One, the Shepherd of Israel, will hurry up and DO SOMETHING, soon! - about Mr Ahmadinejad and all the rest of the haters.
Next year I am seriously thinking that I won't just put up Christmas lights.
A few weeks beforehand, during Hanukkah, I - a Christian - will put up Hanukkah lights outside my house as a sign of solidarity with Israel and with Jews everywhere. The rising flood of antisemitism nowadays is really spooking me out and I think it's time for people to start openly challenging it.
Imagine if, all over the West, next Hanukkah, every single Gentile who detests and rejects antisemitism, and who supports Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state and to defend itself against the Jihad, were to display the Hanukkah lights? (And donate to the JNF or send a parcel to the folks in Sderot, or something).

I know it is holiday season for you…please enjoy …but research like I have and know that as Christians you have been deluded and tricked by clever peoples like the apostle Paul.
Christmas comes and goes each year with a lot of shopping, hustle and bustle, Santa Claus, Christmas trees, etc… The "Christians" celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Historical facts however reveal that Jesus did not use the word Christianity. He and his followers used to worship in the temple
which other Israelites used.
The message of Jesus was to call people back to the religion of Abraham and Moses from which they
had gone astray.
Remember that at the beginning, Paul was a staunch opponent of prophet Jesus and remained so for many years after his ascension. When he
did join the followers of Jesus later on, he initiated many alterations in the teachings of Jesus in hopes of winning over the Gentiles (non-Jewish people). He introduced the following concepts into Christianity:
1. the concept of Jesus as son of God;
2. Jesus died on the cross to wash eternal sins of Adam's
children through his blood; and
3. the Law of Torah was renounced. He eliminated all regulations concerning food and abrogated the injunctions of circumcision.
Moving on, in 325 C.E., a council of Christian leaders met at Nicaea and officiated Paul's beliefs as their religion. The Roman Empire
declared Paul's religion as the religion of the State and all the council held under the presidency of Pope Damasius gave its approval to further conform with Paul's religion of Christianity.
So Christianity is Paul’s religion NOT that of Jesus.
The TRUE story of Jesus' birth from Mary is told in the Holy Quran. We are told that he was born without a father by the command of God. Mary was single and a chaste woman.
21:91 And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our Spirit, and We made her and her son a Sign for
all peoples. she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.
At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing
hast thou brought!
19:28 "O sister of Aaron! thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!"
19:29 But she pointed to the babe. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"

19:34 Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.
The Holy Quran also rejects the claim that Jesus was killed on the cross.
4:157 That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Apostle of God"; but they killed him not, nor
crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow for of a surety they
killed him not.
Based on the statements of Prophet Muhammad SAW,we Muslims believe that Jesus PBUh will return to earth at a time when Muslims will be in a dire need of a leader.
NOTE that He will not initiate a new religion but rather obey the Holy Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and lead Muslims to victory over the disbelievers.
So peoples, there is the proof...please think about it, don’t get taken in by Paul’s religion, Jesus is of the Koran……You know this now…and join us as Ahmadi.

Here's my all time favorite rendition of Silent Night. This is a two hanky song, fer sure! I remember a Christmas in 1965 when I was six years old and my sister was four, and my eldest brother came home from the Air Force academy, destined to go to Viet Nam after graduation. We hadn't seen him in a long time and because I was little he was somebody wonderful. He brought me a fabulous game that I kept and treasured until I got married. He brought my little sister a child's piano, and every time I hear the end of this song it reminds me of that simpler time, and quite honestly, I always lose it.

Here, all this time I thought that "Allah is the Best of Deceivers," who fooled those detestable sons of "apes and pigs" into thinking that "We killed Christ Jesus," and "so it was made to appear to them"; yet, all the while, it was REALLY Paul the Apostle! Well, imagine that!
So--let me get this straight--it was Paul who, after the fact, fabricated this whole thing about Jesus being Crucified and Rising from the dead, as if, by the power of hypnotic suggestion, Paul managed to convince the Jewish Sanhedrin and Temple authorities, Governor Pilate and the Romans, and the Jewish and Roman historians--even the loyal intimate followers of Jesus Himself!--of these happenings, though they never were!
Why, I guess then, that PAUL, not ALLAH TALA, is the Best of Deceivers! Either Paul is just another apparition of Allah, or Allah just isn't al-Ilah after all!!

The Holy Spirit is working in Naseem's life and right now it must be pretty uncomfortable because she's beginning to doubt and beginning to seek. She's grasping at straws.

Of course, all three issues raised above are dealt with in the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. So much for dawa, unless one also wishes to argue that Paul went back and rewrote those (would that make it Paul 3:16?). That would just make it that much harder to distinguish whether any alleged Pauline innovations escaped being expunged from the Qur'an, especially when there was that business of the satanic verses (if they made it in there, what else did, eh?).
Either way, the apologist relies on the argument-- indeed, the belief-- that the Qur'an is the correction of revelations corrupted by Jews and Christians (but with nothing on earth-- no ancient ur-Qur'an-- with which to prove that).
And one may consider that article of faith to be the first in a long line of conspiracy theories that have plagued that corner of the world.

I never read that quote by St. Augustine. I love it. Very applicable. I love his mother, St. Monica, who prayed for him everyday for thirty years and look at how his life turned out, how we know him after 1600 years. She inspired me to pray for my son, who has completely turned his life around. Drugs, jail, rehab in Canada, you name it, we've been through it. He is no longer into that. He works hard and has left that old lifestyle. (Thank You, God!)
You are right about being angry about our Christian brothers and sisters over in the Middle East and Holy Land. I am, but our leaders have betrayed us so we will get no help from them. I think it's time for some Combat Prayer. We need to get serious and we need to pray unceasingly. I've been trying to do this during December and Advent and there have been many miracles as a result. We have the power to clean up this mess, if we would only use it. If we only will it. If we only conform our will to His, He will help us. He promises it. That is my main goal this year, and I proclaim it to all of you, that I will endeavor to pray without ceasing, for the Christians around the world who are outnumbered and feeling very alone, and for the Muslims, that Christ will take the swords out of their hands and teach them about His peace. And for everybody else, that they will come to know Him, cease to offend Him and that He will give us the peace that we all say that we want.

The good Lord gave us a precious gift today, about three inches of rain, so it has been a blessed Christmas indeed! That wouldn't be such a big deal if rainfall wasn't about 20" below normal for the year. It's scary to watch the creeks, lakes, and ponds slowly dry up and disappear in a wetter than average climate, and it teaches you not to take anything for granted.

If you do not fear to truly pray, ask God to free you from the slavery that is Islam and to be able to love God and pray to him as a Father in Heaven. I've also read a few books penned by Crowley (I own Gems from the Equinox, for example) and find no mention of the cult either. One interesting thing is that Crowley maintains that the actual Number of the Beast should be 56, not 666. More of his disinformation, I'm sure.

also a first edition of 'The Beast 666, the Magical Diary of Aliester Crowely', (I don't have these books in front of me so I may be a little off on titles), which is basically a record of sex magic experiments. I also have Book 4, and 777. There may be something in 777 about jinn, but I would have to check it out to be sure. I also read some of his other stuff like the 'Book of Lies, and his confessions. Years ago I had the opportunity to buy the entire 22 volume set of 'The Equinox', for $200. Duh Swami, I have a fun picture of you and your box of chocolates (and memories of about a week ago when I ate a 1 lb box of See's sent from my mother in law, because it wasn't safe to leave it in the house, and of course, you can't throw See's Candy away, so there was only one logical thing to do!) But I would like to correct something you said. Christmas isn't over, it's twelve days began yesterday. I know there will be people who will put their trees out to the curb today. And the music that has been on my radio around here since two weeks before Thanksgiving is now silenced for another year, but I think that has more to do with getting people into the shopping mood than anything else. The joy that has been building in anticipation of the Lord coming is now here and expressed in many more ways than just one family gathering on Christmas Day. The message of Jesus was to call people back to the religion of Abraham and Moses from which they

Remember that at the beginning, Paul was a staunch opponent of prophet Jesus and remained so for many years after his ascension. When he
did join the followers of Jesus later on, he initiated many alterations in the teachings of Jesus in hopes of winning over the Gentiles (non-Jewish people). He introduced the following concepts into Christianity:
1. the concept of Jesus as son of God;
2. Jesus died on the cross to wash eternal sins of Adam's
children through his blood; and

Moving on, in 325 C.E., a council of Christian leaders met at Nicaea and officiated Paul's beliefs as their religion. The Roman Empire
declared Paul's religion as the religion of the State and all the council held under the presidency of Pope Damasius gave its approval to further conform with Paul's religion of Christianity.
So Christianity is Paul’s religion NOT that of Jesus.

The Holy Bible is PROOF of the REAL LOVE God has for all of us from the first pages to the last pages, God's great love for us is shown for us in the accounts of the patriachs, the prophets, the evangelists, including St. Paul, whom in your posting has spoken in a negivtive manner. Thanks to St. Paul, the good news of the Gospel of Jesus has gone out to the nations. As a Christian/Roman Catholic, I forgive you for the errors that were presented by your posted comments. But also I must stand up for the Bible and the Christian faith. Both the TRUTH and the HOPE offered by the Bible is why the Christian faith is spreading to the four corners of the earth. Growth is being seen in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. An example is China, in which more people over there, up to 10,000 a day are coming to faith in Christ. This why Christianity is the FASTEST GROWING FAITH there is in the world.
Naseem, I have a second question, if your "Ahmadi Islam" is so good, why is it that in Pakistian they are being ill-treated bigtime as well as the Saudi Arabian government HAS BANNED them from ever making pilgrimages to Mecca? Even Christians can still make pilgrimages to the holy shrines dear to them, be they Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant as well, be they in the Holy Land, Rome, ete.,. The beloved Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, despite the great hardships suffered by the remaining Christians in that still very troubled city had seen an increase of pilgrams, up to 20,000 for just this Christmas alone. Signs that there is hope for peace in the Isreal/West Bank areas.
So Naseem, I will PRAY for you that you will see the light of the TRUE JESUS of the Holy Bible that you will come to faith in HIM.

Muhammads invention, 'Isa'- the Muslim Jesus, has nothing in common with the Jesus of the Christians.
"Isa" is not "the Muslim Jesus"; it is simply the Arabic equivalent of "Jesus," the way "Yehoshua" is the Hebrew equivalent, and "Iesous" is the Greek equivalent. "Isa" is how Christian Arabs refer to the incarnate Lord when they are speaking Arabic. (I used to get my hair cut by a Lebanese Christian names Isa, who had been born on Christmas Day and given the name in honor or Him whose birthday he shared.) You may disagree with what the Mahometans say about Isa, or Jesus (the way people in the Jesus Seminar disagree with what Christians say about Him), but that's not the same thing as saying that Mahometans and Christians are talking about different people.

Actually those particular Laws of Torah never applied to Gentiles in the first place. Paul, James, Peter, and all the apostles debated whether "Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved." (Acts 15:1) After much discussion, including a speech against adult circumcision by the apostle Peter, James issued an overriding halakic decision that adult circumcision was NOT required of Gentiles.
Thus, on the authority given by Christ to bind and loose, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the apostles decided: "It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things." (Acts 15: 28-29).
Put simply, the Gentile converts were only required to adhere to the Noahide Covenant (Genesis 9:12-17) which is what was already the only law for a Righteous Gentile.

I suspect that for all his advocacy of "evil" Aleister Crowely was more image than substance. Unlike Muhammed, there is no evidence that he ever raped a nine-year-old or that he committed mass-murder. In other words, while I would not want either men as my next door neighbor, I suspect my family would have less to fear from Crowley than from old Mo.

A counterfeit would be easy to spot if it were completely without some of the original's features.
That is what islam is, a counterfeit religion. A "religion" that exalts "booty" and "slave girls", just so easy to follow. The only deprivation is doing without food during daylight hours once a year. No trying to avoid sin, why all the sins of the Bible are permissible for moslems. Killing, it's jihad. Lying, it's taqiyya. Lust, just "marry" as many as you can, after all women are just a tilth.
Coveting, call that "booty". And on and on.
I am tired of hearing how allah is the name for god, how isa is the same Jesus. The actions of the adherents of this counterfeit religion show us just who they worship daily.

Isabellathecrusader...You are right, Christmas is not over. St Augustine made the remark that Christianity has always existed. If that is the case, I suppose it always will, it's never really over. So merry Christmas for every day of your life.
Provoslavni...I think you are right about Crowely. His evilness came more from cavorting with Abramelins demons than doing anything criminal. As far as I know, he never raped anyone or robbed anyone, or enslaved anyone. On the grande scale of negativity, Crowely can't hold a candle to Mohammad.
I would not mind if he lived next door (of course he is dead now), it would have been very interesting to have backyard, over the fence conversations...

our family always observes the Twelve Days of Christmas, too. The tree and the decorations stay up until Epiphany and are then ceremoniously taken down.
Not always, but often, in our twenty years of marriage my husband and I have ended the Christmas season by inviting friends and family to a Twelfth Night Feast on the 5th January or an Epiphany Feast on the 6th.
We sing 'we three kings of orient are'; one year we read aloud T S Eliot's "The Coming of the Magi" while playing the section of Respighi's Three Botticelli Pictures which meditates on his 'visitation of the magi'. One year we sat down with our friends, a bottle of wine, quince preserves and other goodies, and watched a video recording of Shakespeare's play, 'Twelfth Night', which was, of course, originally written for this time of year.
Sir Toby Belch's rebuke, in that play, to the obsessively puritanical - but also secretly ambitious and lustful - Malvolio, is equally apposite for the likes of the sour-faced mullahs of Iran:
"dost thou think that because thou art virtuous, there shall be no more cakes and ale?"
The Magi may have been Persian, Zoroastrian. On the Feast of Epiphany let you and I make a special prayer for the people of Persia - its persecuted Jews and Christians, its remnant Zoroastrians and, last but not least, all those Persians everywhere who are enslaved by the deep darkness of Islam. May they by a divine miracle make the same journey that Persian ex-Muslim and former jihadist, now Christian evangelist, Daniel Shayesteh did - an Exodus from Darkness. "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light".
