International pressure works.
From the BBC (thanks to all who sent this in):
The Saudi king has pardoned a female rape victim sentenced to jail and 200 lashes for being alone with a man raped in the same attack, reports say.The "Qatif girl" case caused an international outcry with widespread criticism of the Saudi justice system.
The male and female victims were in a car together when they were abducted and raped by seven attackers, who were given jail sentences up to nine years.
Press reports say King Abdullah's move did not mean the sentence was wrong.
Quoted by the Jazirah newspaper, Justice Minister Abdullah al-Sheikh said the king had the right to issue pardons if it served the public interest.
Women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to mix with men who are not close family members.
The custodial sentence plus 200 lashes was imposed after the woman, who has not been named, appealed against an earlier sentence of 90 lashes.
Chalk one up for the infidels!
It good to see that international pressure is sometimes effective as in the case of the teddy bear incident in Sudan.
It's a shameful story, even for the Saudis; but if it is brought up again in 5, 10, 100 years, it will be as proof of the mercifulness of Islam.

That international pressure was necessary to stop Islamic barbarism, proves once again, that Islam has no place in a progressive and modern world.
"The custodial sentence plus 200 lashes was imposed after the woman, who has not been named, appealed against an earlier sentence of 90 lashes."
Unbelievable!
The death penalty was imposed after the woman appealed against an earlier sentence of life in prison...
No crying in baseball, and no appeals in Islam, if you know what's good for you.
Quoted by the Jazirah newspaper, Justice Minister Abdullah al-Sheikh said the king had the right to issue pardons if it served the public interest.
In other words, if it serves the Islamic world's long-term agenda for dominance, since that's the only possible kind of "public interest" the Saudis would recognize.
There is not the slightest remorse from the Saudis - they still think they are right "but the king can pardon in the public interest" - i.e. to stop bad publicity that sabotages the billions spent on spreading Islam.
The imposition of 200 lashes instead of 90 because she complained is exactly what it seems to be. Bullying spite sanctified by the biggest bully of them all - Mohammed. Doesn't it seem just the sort of thing MO would do in the Quran? "Verily, she hath not shown submission unto Allah giveth her 200 lashes, not 90."
Confront them at every turn and for every transgression of any principle found in the 1948 UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Never give up.
Never give in.
Islam will either expand its influence or contract in the light of exposure - it's up to us. Do your part, whatever scope and scale you have at your disposal. It makes a difference.
What was also every appalling in this case is that this rape victim chose to speak out about this treatment by the Saudi Court and for doing that they more than tripled the penalties and banned her lawyer.
And the pathetic Anti-Western Dhimmis whine about "water boarding" thats prevented Mohammedan Massacres in the Western Democracies caused by Mohammedan Murder/Rapist seeking to spread this vile Sharia Law.
Multicultural moral equivalence has so befuddled the minds of the Western masses that such absurd new-speak comments sound reasonable. Why not allow cannibalism? That's a religion too ya know.
How come the rapists did not get any lashes?

Follow the link to view a video with an interview of the appointed excecutioner of Saudi Arabia. Evil is truly banal.
As Bob Dylan would say "the excecutioner's face is always well hidden". In this case, it isn't.
How "infidel" of the king.
Now she'll just disappear.
Just trying to protect their investments, less their investments start to think for themselves. Nothing has changed. The poor girl will not have any kind of return to "normalcy." Such as it is in a misogynistic, totalitarian waste of a nation. She'll most likely be "punished" by some group, whether her own family or some group of pious, peaceful, miscreants/"yoots." And the media will miss it and only those of us who keep a vigilant eye will find out about it. If there were true justice her family would whisk her out of saudi and seek asylum. I have lost hope that we will solve the problem of islam in our lifetime. It will be left up to succeeding generations provided they are able to eschew the state funded propaganda machine of multiculturalism know as the education system. All we can do right now is to stem the damage and begin to repair the damage we have done to ourselves and our culture.
Tanstaafl,
Thanks for that thought provoking video clip. Every American & European man, woman and child needs to view this. These people talk about execution as if they were interviewing a star athlete about his daily routine. The gorgeous Muslima Stepford newscaster is a nice touch, with her matching eye shadow and hijab and her questions about how it feels to kill people or if he feels more compassion for women when he executes them, all done with her Rosebowl Parade smile.
These "people" truly exude the concept of living in an alternate reality. They talk about the ho-hum aspects of Sharia like we talk about Sundays football game.
We here need to take a reality pill and make sure that they never get to implement that system here. Even iff we have to die fighting, we can't allow them one inch. In fact in this fight, it is either we give ground or they do. There is nothing static about it.
Now imagine how far we would go if we confroted organizations like CAIR on a daily basis, telling them to condemn Hamas and Hezbollah BY NAME, and telling them to reveal their donors.
but I won't hold my breath. The Western media is not interested in destroying the "enemy of my enemy"..
You are a pistol, Isabella!
Glad you picked up on the casual nature of an interview with a man whose job it is to kill people.
"Is it true that your sword once broke during an excution?"
"No, the handle fell off."
They live in a different reality than we do. We fight a battle across time. Despite our flaws, we represent the modern world and our opponents represent the dead hand of the past.
What the Saudi state didn't accomplish, her family probably will --- a vicious honor killing carried out by her father, brothers, and uncles.
The corpulent swine abdullah no-doubt thinks this enhances his public image, and in the adoring eyes of his faithful lap dog George Bush, it undoubtedly does.
How noble of the Saudi "King". The word pardon still implies that the woman has done something criminal. Only muslims seem to think getting raped is a criminal offense for which a woman should be punished.
Thanks Tanstaafl,
It's the casualness that is the most disturbing, that and the fact that the burqa babe was gushing while she asked him questions about his daily routine. I especially thought the very calm answer about executing his friends because they had done something wrong was chilling. Where is the compassion? Where is forgiveness or love? In my middle years now I've come to find that the most heartwarming and truly healing thing two people can do is for the one who has wronged the other to humbly seek forgiveness and pardon and for the other one to graciously give it to him. I see now the reason why Christ said to forgive your brother 70 X 7 times, because it's better than rain for cleaning an area of one's life infected with disdain or embarrassment of wrongdoing. A good "I'm sorry" can make your whole day, if it is sincerely given and gratefully accepted.
That is what we will lose if Islam comes to dominate our culture. I for one, am fighting to the death to prevent it.
