UK: Muslims cover crucifix while using common prayer room; hospital porter suspended after asking them to remove cloth when they were finished

He didn't ask them to remove the cloth while they were praying. He asked them to remove it after they were finished. "Porter in row over crucifix," by Neal Keeling in the Manchester Evening News (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):

A HOSPITAL porter has been suspended after a row over a crucifix being covered up in a prayer room.

The male porter had allegedly gone to use the room, which is available to visitors and staff of all faiths, at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury, Salford.

When he entered the room the crucifix, which was on a table, had been covered with a cloth as several Muslims were using the room.

A source said: "The porter apparently asked them to remove the cloth when they had finished as he and others wanted to use the room later.

"There was then some kind of incident and as a result the porter was suspended. It is the talk of the hospital and many staff are astounded that the porter has been sent home, and feel he has been unfairly treated.

"It has been claimed that he was verbally abused by those in the prayer room."

Complaint

A spokeswoman for the Central Manchester and Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Pendlebury, said: "We have received a complaint, following an incident which occurred last week, involving one of the porters who works at the hospital. The porter has been suspended and we are currently looking into what has taken place. Until we are in receipt of the full facts we cannot provide any further detail at this time." [...]

Another source said: "Some staff believe the porter is the victim in this situation, but because an official complaint has been made the management have had no option but to suspend him."

There's a dhimmi history in Manchester:

In October, a Manchester airport boss was suspended after he hung an image of Jesus on a staffroom wall. Car parks supervisor Gareth Langmead, who is Catholic, was sent home after a Muslim colleague complained.

He was suspended for three days while airport chiefs investigated the complaint then reinstated without a blemish on his record.

The suspension was blemish enough.

Just like vampires, I suppose, they cannot bear to witness the cross and realize what truth it embodies.

Bend over UK Dhimmis'----How far? ----Until you fall flat on your face.----Okay

CapitalistGig,
You took the words right out of my mouth – it’s like comparing profanity to holiness and darkness to light!

What a strange story.

It is hard to believe that the porter was suspended from a job for asking that the cloth of the crucifix be removed after the Muslims left the room.

His boss must have been one of the following: 1) a Muslim (or Muslim sympathizer) who wanted to keep the prayer room set up like a mosque for Muslims or 2) an anti-Catholic.

Britian is filled with Muslims, anti-Catholics, and dhimmis.

British Airways claimed the crucifix violated the company’s dress code—the same code that permits Muslims and Sikhs to wear headscarves and turbans. ...

I wonder if any of the hospital doors are 6 paneled. I recently purchased a century home and an architect told me that Christians once constructed doors in this manner because it formed a cross design.

Just like the candy cane and Twelve Days of Christmas Song, there was a hidden meaning for persecuted Christians. The hospital needs to get on this now, along with holly, ivy, or stockings as decor--all have a hidden Christian meanings that could offend a muslim.

It's a Judeo-Christian world, brothers, and we better be prepared to fight for keeping it that way.

One would have thought this happened in Kuwait or some other delightful cesspoolian state. But on the bright side they didn't toss the crucifix into the trash-I guess there is tolerance by the Koranists after all.

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God Who is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Hey guys, the war is on in earnest, now!

Only in the UK.

This is typical of the pathetic country I live in under Al-Labour. It is interesting to note that a story released by the Daily Mail today reports that the government is going to stop any grant money for the training of Christian Vicars but will pay for the training of Imams. The reason being, apparently, that Imams are necessary for "social cohesion".

Still, that's the least of our worries. Today our Prime ministers' monkey, David Milliband, signed away our sovereignty to the EU superstate. We now are governed by a foreign country.

The upshot is that we will now see the accession of Turkey into the EU, something Milliband and Al-Straw are in favour of. We will then see a flood of muslims with the "right" to come and live off of us. With Turkeys borders with the middle East we will see a huge amount of people from countries other than Turkey claiming to be Turkish coming here to increase the numbers of muslims here. We will soon see a majority of muslims in this country, something this government is actively promoting.

Welcome to Britainistan, run by traitors, for the benefit of Islam.

MEDIA BLACKOUT, MEDIA BLACKOUT

OT, sorry, but see this.

Racist "asians" convicted of attempted murder of man for "colour of his skin" (read: being non-muslim).

No mention in the news. Only the Mail has covered this.

Or submerge it in urine, take a picture, and collect a government subsidy for the resulting "art".

By the cross of St. George, this must be addressed.

An atheist would probably think that battles over religious icons is stupid and an infantile waste of time and energy. But then the atheist is not caught up in the emotional drama, where things are likely to get out of control. The atheist can't be accused of being emotionally out of control over God.
This makes it difficult for the atheist to understand why someone gets upset over a statue, a cross, or a cartoon of Mohammad etc. The fact is that the emotionally reactive people don't really understand why they are upset either. Raw emotion does not need a rational reason to explode all over the scene. Religious fervor generates raw emotion.
Reason gives raw emotion a form and slows it down.
To be reasonable prevents riots, of raw emotion.
Islam is never reasonable. When Islam is thwarted, it produces raw emotion from the thwartee's.
Islam can be thwarted in the smallest and most sublime ways possible, so Islam never gets out of the emotionally out of control phase of it's existence. Riots and other over reactions are always possible. It only slows down to catch its breath before rampaging once again.
Islam won't die. It either needs to be beaten into submission, or caused to implode. I prefer the implode method. Either way, maybe Islam would then take a nap for a few centuries. Otherwise it's more of the same. Don't expect miracles, but do expect riots...

Perhaps those coworkers sympathetic to the suspended porter will phone in sick on the same day.

One of the (many) things that pisses me off over incidents like this, is that all some arrogant muslim has to do is to make a complaint, no matter how spurious, and the non-muslim is suspended.

Would any muslim be suspended if a complaint was made against them or would the complainent be forced to go on a diversity and understanding course.

...the next time the porter is directed to clean up the bathroom sinks after an incident of WUDU, he should refuse immediately...citing "the last time I asked Muslims to clean up after themselves....You suspended me!!".......hey boss...you cannot have it both ways....

...make a return to civilization and Ban Muslim Immigration...

Still, that's the least of our worries. Today our Prime ministers' monkey, David Milliband, signed away our sovereignty to the EU superstate. We now are governed by a foreign country.

Flying out through Heathrow 3 last month and with time to kill (thanks to 9/11), I went into the small prayer room provided there. First visit, empty. There is a large doored cabinet, with the untidy left half ("Christian") containing assorted Bibles and tracts. The right half has three shelves, top "Islamic" filled with a variety of Korans in Arabic, English and what appeared to be Urdu, and the usual assorted Saudi/Kuwaiti-sponsored booklets. The middle ("Judaic") has no Judaic material, but contains the overflow from the top shelf. The bottom shelf ("Sikhism") has only several pamphlets.

Went in an hour later, hopping over 15 pairs of shoes strewn in the doorway, to find it crowded with 15 prostrate males, guided by the ceiling qibla compass and the one embossed into the lino. I was totally ignored, except by one small boy who appeared pleased to have a distraction for the five minures I stayed.

Visiting that room during Muslim prayer time would be a daunting propect for your average dhimmi.

Yes, you can bet there will be a lucrative business in providing fake Turkish i.d.'s.
This reminds me of a scam worked in the '80's in Germany. During the Cold War, West Germany freely accepted as refugees any ethnic Germans fleeing persecution in the East; not just East Germans, but remaining members of the once numerous and widespread German enclaves throughout eastern Europe in Poland, the Baltic state, Romania, the Balkans, Russia, etc. If they succeeded in making their way to West Germany, all they needed in order to claim full German citizenship, with full rights to the generous social welfare programs, was good paper-work showing them to be ethnically German -- birth certificates, marriage certificates of parents or grandparents, copies from registry books or church records, etc. At the same time, the East German economy was in a shambles, and desperate for hard currency. So the East German government began working a scam with the Tamils in Ceylon. A Tamil would put up several thousand dollars (or equivalent in pounds, or Swiss francs, or other hard currency), and in return the East Germans would provide: a direct flight to East Berlin, a bus-ride direct to Checkpoint Charlie, and an East German passport and identity card. Bingo! Without speaking a word of German, they were now Germans, and had to be allowed into the West. The East Germans gained millions in hard currency, and had the added satisfaction of burdening the Western economy with thousands of welfare cases.
Look for something similar to happen when Turkey joins the EU. It won't be long before there will be more Turks in the rest of Europe than there are in Turkey itself, and yet the population of Turkey will not have decreased.

you get what you vote for.

The british people are literate, political and know what's going on in the world so ignorance of islam is not an excuse.

live with it or change it.

simple really.

This particular atheist doesn't think it's stupid. Even if one doesn't believe in the Christian God or Islamic Allah, they each represent an ideology that impacts our everyday life for better or worse (I'll leave it to the reader to decide which is which). All ideologies (and the icons that represent them) are not the same, they are not interchangeable.

This makes it difficult for the atheist to understand why someone gets upset over a statue, a cross, or a cartoon of Mohammad etc.

I was quite emotional and upset at the destruction of the statues of Bamiyan, just prior to the 9/11 attacks. But that seems different than the extremely bland cartoons (some of them were more sketches than cartoons) of Mohammad in Holland, which sparked riots that killed several people. That I don't understand; is it my atheism that causes my lack of comprehension? I don't think so.

In this case, the porter was just asking the Muslims to be respectful of other religions' icons. Their reaction to this reasonable request was one of indignant rage, and they responded by getting the porter suspended from his job. Expect to see more cases like this, as our tolerance of Islam (in the name of multiculturalism) butts up against Islamic intolerance.

Thank God for the First Amendment and Free Exercise Clause of the U.S. Constitution. If devoutly bigoted Muslims start a row here, backed by heavy-handed dhimmified corporate entities, SUE THE BASTARDS!!

Let's not forget the Equal Protection Clause either, most especially.

Mark my words. This will become commonplace and will be considered acceptable behavior as the moslems begin to "declare their turf".

England, grow a pair of balls. Fight.

At the time of the 2001 census, Manchester was nearly 15% Muslim. Safe to say the figure is now closer to 20%. It's a race to see which will be the first European Muslim-majority city: Marseilles, Malmo, Rotterdam, or Manchester. Right now, Marseilles leads with around 25%. It would seem the race will be decided around 2020.

Here's a compilation of Muslim population by city (interesting that Stockholm is 20%):

always carry a digital audio recorder. video is even better. back up with pepper spray

The nerve of this man! How dare he ask muslims to respect another religion! Does he not realize that doing so constitutes "verbal abuse" of a muslim? Another lesson learned in the understanding of "misunderstood muslims"!
