The complaints' subject is "The Future Belongs to Islam," an excerpt from Mark Steyn's book "America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It," which appeared in the magazine's Oct. 23, 2006, issue.Complaints were submitted to Human Rights Commissions in B.C. and Ontario on the grounds that "the article subjects Canadian Muslims to hatred and contempt," according to a CIC press release. In the release, the CIC labels Steyn's article as "flagrantly Islamophobic."
Faisal Joseph is the CIC's legal counsel on the matter. "In Canada, we have 750,000 law-abiding Muslims," he says. "When you read that article, it sounds to some people [like] there’s an attack from the 'Muslim' world against the 'non-Muslim' world. We take real issue with that type of characterization and the implications of it."

I don't know the accurate figures but I remember seeing a statistic of comparison between Canada and the US and it showed there are more Muslims in American than Canada by numbers, but if you go by population %, Canada has a higher % per pop. than the US.

Steyn will, one hopes, assemble material from the Qu'ran, Hadith, and Sira. He could start with Robert's books, and those of Bat Ye'or, and the scholars whose articles are reproduced in "The Legacy of Jihad." And of course the Calcutta Koran Petition. Then Steyn should prepare a list of questions about the doctrine, and practice, of Islam, and ask the Canadian public what it thinks.
He should be sure to quote, in whatever articles this threatened lawsuit provokes, Qur'anic sura and ayat, quote the Hadith from Bukhari and Muslim by number, give specific examples taken from the life of Muhammad, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil. He should leave nothing to the wilfully modifying, nuancing, hope-against hoping, imagination of too many Infidels, and leave his Muslim opponents without any room to maneuver, as they attempt to hide the clear doctrines of Islam, through one more whirl of the fog-and-pettifogery machine.

These figures look pretty suspicious to me, and highly inflated in favor of the Moslems. To take just three examples, compare the figures in this "factbook" to those in a recent almanac. Both sources give similar total populations.

Canada has a huge problem with Islamic radicalism, however its atheistic leftist media is unwilling to face the reality.
It is frightening that when a plot was exposed to blow up three McVeigh sized bombs and behead the Prime Minister of Canada, that most of the Canadian Muslim community did not ask what was wrong with their community, but rather rallied around the accused with massive support for their legal defense. Ummah solidarity trumps non-Muslim lives most times, I guess. This is why we must end Muslim immigration to Canada. At least until we can sort out the jihadist Muslims from the non-Jihadist Muslims.

The 2006 Canadian Census results by religion have not been published by StatsCan (surprise), at least not that I can find in searching their site. In 2001 there were 579,640 Muslims in Canada.

Muslim organizations in the US and Canada puposely inflate their numbers by counting all people of Middle Eastern origin as Muslims.
In both the US and Canada the majority of Middle Easterners, especially Lebanese and Palestinians, are Christian. Among the population of "Middle Eastern origin" are thousands of Yemeni and other Mizrahi Jews as well.
Among those I've seen listed as "prominent Muslims" is Casey Kasem who is of Lebanese Druze origin but is a practicing Catholic. They've also tried to claim the gorgeous former Miss Canada Ramona Rina Amiri who is a Christian of Assyrian-Iranian origin as well as Iranian-born actress Bahar Soomekh who is Jewish.
In other words... NEVER believe any statistic put out by Muslim organizations. Takkiya is alive and well in both the media and politics.

I agree with most of your comment, except for the part about Canada's (predominantly) leftist media being "atheistic." I've watched them for many years with this issue in mind, and I personally find them to be, overall, pro-religion, especially with regard to non-Christian religions, but also with regard to Christianity. Indeed, they are actually promoting Islam in many ways (e.g., see CBC's coverage of anything to do with Islam, and their "Little Mosque on the Prairie" show, all at taxpayer expense), not merely protecting it from criticism. Politicians of all stripes and most media are pro-Islam.

Regarding this lawsuit launched by the (pro-sharia law) CIC, whichever way it turns out, it will draw more peoples' attention to Steyn's article. However, most Canadians I know (and I'm Canadian and live in Canada) already know about the Islam-demographic issue and are talking about it. In my experience, this kind of talk has been increasing notably in the last year or two. It doesn't appear much in the mainstream media (though when it does occasionally, those who are concerned about Islam are labelled racists and xenophobes by the media--e.g., see CBC's "coverage" of the discussion on reasonable accommodation in Quebec).

I don't plan on reproducing (much to awake's delight, surely), but it seems like the rest of you need to do a better job of it!
The posting by "khaybar oasis" above, at 12:47 p.m., is important. It offers evidence to support the notion that the fantastic overbreeding of Muslims is not accidental, merely reflecting poor knowledge of birth control methods or a disapproval of them. No, it is not that. Muslim overbreeding, especially in the Lands of the Infidels, is a conscious, deliberate act, to supply more Muslims for the Army of Islam now within Infidel lands, and to further the conquest, long-term as it must be, of those lands through demographic change.
Make sure you do not overlook that posting. Print it out. Send it by email to everyone you know.
