The Islamic Republic of Iran is consciously aware that once its Islamic Empire falls, Islam will be its first victim, and there aren’t wrong.
The ever-conniving mullahs dread the Iranian people. Granted that a small percentage of Iranians, known as the 3Fs—fools, fanatics and frauds—support the mullahs. No totalitarian rule can ever survive without a segment of the population, for one reason or another, supporting it. Yet, time is not on the side of the mullahs. By their mismanagement, thievery and oppression of the masses, they have created explosive internal conditions.They must have the bomb to create a fake sense of security.
The National Intelligence Estimates are designed to alert the president of national security developments and provide guidelines for policy makers. A U.S. source said about the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report on Iran: "It's a full look at what we know, what we don't know and what assumptions we have.”
The problem arises about what we don’t know and the accuracy of what we assume we know. Knowing the past and the present behavior of the Islamic regime makes it very hard to believe they have abandoned what seems to be their final card to play. The Islamic Republic cannot possibly live longer than it already has without the bomb.

The actual text does not support the conclusions, the conclusions ballyhooed by The Times on the front-page, as a Great Achievement In Intelligence. But what disturbs most of all is the underlying failure of its authors , in assigning the "moderate" or "high degree" of "confidence" in this or that conclusion, is to realize how much depends upon an understanding of the nature of the Iranian regime, its origins, its history, the worldview of those who run it and what they wish to do, and what might, temporarily, give them pause, but in the end would cause them to start right up again when they thought the coast was clear. What conceivable explanation can there be for what Iran has been caught trying to import, or has managed to build? What conceivable explanation can there be for the 3,000 centrifuges to which the Iranians have admitted (the actual number is much greater)? It is the taking of Iranian denials at face value, and ignoring the entire pattern of behavior that is prompted by deep beliefs, beliefs that in Ahmadinejad's case include a chiliasm that ought to scare many into grim comprehension.
Every assumption that appears to lie behind this report is on the side of seeing Iran's rulers as sensible, sane, rational actors. It's nonsense. That is not what Islam teaches -- not in the advanced Western sense. It teaches the duty to promote the spread, and dominance of Islam, coute que coute. Seventh-century texts may be laughed off by us, the Infidels, but they are not laughed off by others. The chiliasm of Ahmadinejad (a follower of a particular group within Shi'a Islam) may appear mad to us, but so what? It is the fact of his belief, not what we think of it, that matters, and that should underlie any weighing of evidence, and judgment as to what may be concluded, and what it makes little sense to conclude.

Ultimately, not really. I think it's a combination of human nature-- human beings' proclivity to be corrupted by power-- combined with the absolute power held by Islamic clerics in Iran and under Sharia law in general: No earthly accountability like re-election, or even a free press, and no separation of the powers of religion and state: Government says = Allah says. There's obviously so much room for abuse there, and our Founding Fathers thankfully took note of that phenomenon.
Add to that the fact that Islam offers less to mitigate pride among believers, who are supposedly the best of people and entitled to rule the world, while so much of the Qur'an is dedicated to describing how incredibly awful unbelievers are simply because they're not Muslims. (Contrast the Judeo-Christian tradition: Isaiah's suffering servant, the washing of the Apostles' feet, calling out of the Pharisees' hypocrisy, and so on-- a much different model for a ruler, which certainly has had its effect on Western civilization).
In brief, there's the corrupting tendency of power, plus a sense of divine entitlement to that power. It's a recipe for disaster.

I've got to admit that the idea of the islamofascists in Iran nuking their own people hadn't crossed my mind. That would damn sure keep the rest of them in line- along with everyone else in the region. All the more reason why we should keep the mullahs from obtaining nuclear weapons by whatever means we have at our disposal.

What seems to baffle the enemies of the Islamic Revolution is how it has managed to endure this long. Many years ago I took a course in economic development, and one of the concepts that really stuck with me was called "Mrs. Murphy's theory of wardrobe management." The originator of the theory was Professor Murphy, and he postulated that even though they were relatively poor as a family, he could keep his wife content as long as something new -- no matter how trivial -- was added to her wardrobe each year. In terms of economic development, it meant that developing countries didn't have to reach the modernity of the more advanced nations to satisfy their subjects, as long as there were visible (and often cheap) signs of improvement each year.
This is the dilemma in Iran. The increasing oil revenues have allowed the mullahs to throw out a few bones to the 3F's each year to keep them loyal, while at the same time brutally cracking down on the opposition. On the religious side, the foreign terrorism adventures which "advance" Shiia Islam show the idiots that their religion is apparently on the ascendancy. This formula, unfortunately, will continue working for the mullahs until something breaks the cycle.
Don't expect the oil revenues to decline. The other deterrent of sanctions often backfires, because they create a visible "enemy" in the eyes of the 3F's which only strengthens their loyalty and resolve. The cycle must be broken by information. When more and more Iranians see the folly and evil of the regime, they can and will undermine the bureaucracy of oppression. Expatriate Iranians need to help sympathetic foreign governments and ngo's in uncovering and exposing the weak underbelly of the mullahs and attacking their cynical strategies. The development of the nuclear arsenal is a hoax because it would not be a deterrent to any "enemy" and it would only accelerate a pre-emptive attack. With regard to the nihilistic longing for the mahadi, that whole concept should have been dismantled years ago -- but it will take someone more versed in Shiia Islam to advance that project.

Amil Imani is dreaming. If the Iranian people really wanted to be rid of the mullahs, they would take action against them, themselves. Instead they proclaim pride in their country's development of nuclear weapons.
The people of Iran aren't poor. They (the Shia, anyway) aren't oppressed. They aren't isolated. They know what's going on in the world. If they want to be free, let them show it. If they're not willing to put themselves on the line, then let them live (and die) with the Mullah regime.
The Arab countries of the region are busily repairing their relations with Tehran, in light of the US NIE saying that Iran has suspended its bomb program. What country in the area believes that they will not be affected by a nuclear attack on Israel? Even if the Israelis never got off a shot, wouldn't the fallout from a nuclear detonation be felt in many Muslim countries in the region? Islamic tenets aside, are the leaders of these countries that suicidal?
A dictator or dictatorship needs nuclear weapons to protect it's regime from outside interference.

Would anyone have predicted the Kamikaze attacks in the last World War. I don't think that that was on the American intelligence radar until they became a reality. They were more than willing to die for there Emperor, who by the way was also a God. I have no difficulty believing that someone who believes that some whimsical fairy will emerge from a medieval wishing well, has built a triumphal way for the procession, which will portent the end of the world would press the button to hasten his coming. We are not the most rational of monkeys.
If our leaders were religiously irrational like these, they would have not problem in believing it, fortunately or unfortunately for us they are not. Also they don't want to believe it. No leader wants to go down in history as the one who started the next world war. They have also different priorities, George has got one thing on his mind and that is to get a republican elected president next year. Another good reason for not doing it is quiet simply the economy. The world economy is dependent on the American economy running at full capacity or as near as full capacity as possible. The American Economy by the way is in very bad shape not quiet as bad as in 1929 but it is getting there. The slow down in the housing market sent ripples round the world The British Government had to Bail out a lender called Northern Rock with I don't know how many billions just to prevent a melt down in the credit market here in Britain. Sometimes when American sneezes other people catch a cold. Credit is what drives our world now and to pay the interest on that credit you have give more credit, otherwise recession. American has to run literally to stand still. This of cause wouldn't have been a problem if the Dollar was backed by gold as it was after the war. Tricky Dicky ended that in the early seventies if I remember correctly. Luckily for American along came the 70s oil crisis and it was able to make a somewhat infamous pact with the devil himself. The Saudis would only sell there oil in dollars and recycle it through the American Financial system, on condition that America would keep them safe and protect them. America literally backed the Dollar with oil. Now you know why the Saudi Royal family gets away with what it does and not a peep from the White House. If the Saudis pull out of this deal the American economy goes into free fall
Seeing how America has tied itself hand and foot to these corrupt sheet people imagine now what would happen if America started to kick Iranian ass in the Gulf, as is certainly suggested by some people. America has certainly got the clout as we would say in England to give those fellows a dam good thrashing. You must remember though that this war is being fought asymmetrically. I think somewhere in the region of 30% of the worlds oil comes through the Straits of Homus. Imagine what would happen if thousands of rubber boats packed with high explosive and incendiaries, and people wanting to get at the 72 virgins, swarmed out from the Iranian coast one dark night heading for a convoy of supertankers passing through the straits. Imagine what turmoil the world oil market would be in next morning, oil prices would double credit would collapse. I leave you to fill in the rest of the details.
This affair will drag on until we are forced to do something, bit the bullet and dam the consequences because if we don't the other consequences will be worse. Until that happens, our rational leaders will carry on as they are now, lots of wind and posturing.

You are 100% right, thats exactly what I think every time iran becomes the subject and people start telling me that most of the population doesn't support the mullahs - I say prove it. We made that mistake with iraq, we should never make that mistake again.
I've had it with muslims. They are on their own, as far as I'm concerned. We can just bomb the hell out them until they wise up, and grow up. Everytime they create another tyrany, we bomb that on out of existance too.

They don't fear the chaos that a nuclear exchange would bring, they need the chaos, because it will usher in the return of the Mahdi, and the end of the world.

In one day , the Labor division of the ministry received over 250,000 exit applications to leave Iran and go to Japan as unskilled laborer's.
Most of the applicant's were over qualified! Had higher education degrees some even at the levels of engineers and Ph. D's!
All and all, about 50,000 left for Japan. Most of whom, did not want to come back. Many were deported and few are still fighting the deportation orders in Japan courts.

Pay the salaries of people killed as suicide bombers or killed in action against Israel. Subsidize the salary of all Palestinians under HAMAS rule.
SYRIA:They pay most of Syria's Budget + Free oil and subsidized oil, buy a Billion Dollars Russian Made air defense system and build factories, provide free medicines/hospitals for the entire population and many other freebies. The cost of having the only Arab Nation as their friend is staggering!

In retrospect, I see 1979 and the rise of the Mullahs in Iran as the major cause of Islamist resurgence and global Jihadism.
I resent the legacies of Dhimmi Carter's foreign policy--Iran, repudiating the Shah, misreading Khomeini, the Hostage Crisis, Soviet adventurism in Afghanistan and elsewhere, a dhimminished, unprepared U.S. military, projecting weakness--for its effects so evident today.
I see the neutralization and ultimate overthrow of Iran's mullah masters and of the Islamic Republic as essential to America's well-being and peace, progress, and stability in the world.
