KABUL, Afghanistan -- An explosion went off Monday at a luxury hotel frequented by foreigners, reverberating throughout Kabul, police said....Vanessa Valentino, an American working in the Afghan capital, was at a meeting at the central bank around the corner when she heard a series of explosions and gunfire.
Valentino described an explosion faraway, then gunfire, another distant explosion followed by a large explosion very close -- all within a "couple of minutes.''

Sounds like the work of Tim McVeigh, anti-abortion protesters, the Tamil Tigers, or Mennonite Central Committee. Nobody expects the Mennonite Central Committee!
The Norwegian foreign minister is there. Handing out money as usual, I expect. They didn't get him, but I'm sure it's too much to hope that he learns something from the experience...

The first explosion was a grenade thrown at the security guards at the entrance. One was killed and another injured. The muslims then proceeded inside the hotel and shot and injured a Norwegian journalist and an employee of the foreign ministry. Then they blew themselves up. The killers were dressed as Afghan army/police.
Needless to say, there will be no pointed questions in the media asking how many of the killers were trained in the koran-schools we're paying for.

Seriously though, I wonder what Afghanistan would look like if all the billions we poured into that sewer called the "Palestinian people" was sent there instead? Okay, having thought about it, I can answer my own question: a country with modern infrastructure, paved roads, electricity in all homes, schools for all children (segregated for the sexes of course), etc and women walking around still covered in their blue burqas/chadors, unable to drive, etc.

Canadian Liberal Party leader Stephane Dion and his right hand man Michael Ignatieff were in Kandahar, I believe they left yesterday.
They called for the end of military involvement by Canadian forces, but leaving troops in the country to train the police forces, counter corruption, create education programs for women....all the usual lefty liberal stuff of dreams.
