The CIA has added its support to the view that a Pakistani militant, Baitullah Mehsud, and al-Qaeda organised Benazir Bhutto's killing.CIA Director Michael Hayden told the Washington Post that the former Pakistani prime minister was killed by fighters allied to Baitullah Mehsud.
The Pakistani government accused Mehsud of the attack shortly after Ms Bhutto's death in Rawalpindi on 27 December.
Mr Hayden did not reveal the sources for his claim.
Correspondents say that Mr Hayden's comments are the most comprehensive public assessment by US intelligence of Ms Bhutto's death.

I thought Baitullah denied everything as exsgtbrown reminds us. Of course denial is part of taqiyya, and also outright lying western style. exsgtbrown's concerns run with my own. Few organizations in government have been more subject to prostitution than the CIA. Think of the DCI's whose first goal was it's emasculation; Turner, Deustch and his amazon sidekick, and Tenet who started his legend as a staffer for Senator Borin.
Would Helms (only one of a few good examples) allow such high-profile dealings? We knew how effective they were when we bombed a Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia.
And we should believe that they got this right?

I would trust it if it had come from Rodrigues. Instead it appears to have been released by the typical admin clerks at CIA. They have left our Commander and Chief hanging in the wind to many times to believe anything from the CIA. Remember the NIE.
The way I see it Bhutto killed herself.
She was on and on about the inadequate security from the government. But in the end the security she had was adequate. She, herself, misused it. Had she stayed inside the vehicle she'd be alive today. The other people inside were unscathed by the bomb explosion.
All the security in the world is of no use if you do not use it.
I rather think she WANTED to die for some warped reason. Otherwise she was too stupid to lead a nation.
