LAHORE, Pakistan - A suicide bomber blew himself up among police deployed outside a court in eastern Pakistan on Thursday, killing at least 24 people and wounding more than 70, officials and witnesses said.
The blast in front of Lahore High Court was the latest in a wave of attacks targeting politicians and security forces ahead of Feb. 18 parliamentary elections. There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but suspicion will likely fall on militants linked to Taliban and al-Qaida.

"There were about 60 to 70 policemen on duty when a man rammed into our ranks and soon there was a huge explosion," said police officer Syed Imtiaz Hussain, who suffered wounds to his legs and groin. "I saw the bodies of other policemen burning. It was like hell."
The explosion left wounded lying in pools of blood, crying for help. TV news video showed at least four mangled bodies on the ground near a destroyed motorbike and a piece of smoking debris. Ambulance workers loaded victims onto stretchers as sirens wailed.
The blast sent shrapnel flying as far as 100 yards away. It also shattered windows in the courthouse and set off volleys of tear gas shells carried by the police, preventing rescuers from getting close to the victims in the seconds after the attack, witnesses said.
Chief of police operations Aftab Cheema said the bomber had run up to a barrier manned by police and blew himself up. He said 21 policemen and three civilians were killed. More than 70 others were wounded, including civilian passers-by, officials said.

The citizenry of the western democracies, if they had any sense, would recoil in horror at the very mention of the names "Islam" or "Pakistan" and take proactive measures to ensure that their homelands NEVER permit themselves to be Islamized.
One can only wonder just how many more horror stories like this one that occurred in Lahore (but could all too easily have been nearly anywhere in the inhabited reaches of the earth) the human species will require to figure out that human life means absolutely nothing in Islam and that this homicidal ideology is best treated like a gangrenous limb?
Or, one wonders, has the world finally sunk to such a horrifically low level of intellect that Islam's degradation of human life is now considered "acceptable" (whereas America is NOT?).

Upon returning from my Christmas holiday with my family, I landed @ Newark International Airport on December 28th, 2007 @ 6am.
I made my way to the lower level kiosk in terminal A @ the Contential section to pick up my luggage.
In a corner of the front entrance were 6-8 muslim men standing in a semi circle about one hundred feet from where I was standing. The leader started chanting his call to worship........... loudly and very emotionally. The remainder of the men with him all turned their attention to all of us who were going about our business of gathering up our luggage. They continued to observe us until at one point they turned and began to follow their imam in prayer. They continued to kneel, rise, cleanse themselves, kneel, pray etc, etc, for approximately 10 - 15 minutes.
The event was sooooo loud that their chanting filled the entire lower lever............
I believe this is not an isolated occurance, but a common occurance in this terminal.
I believe these men are cab drivers and where having their regular call to worship.
This is not right. This is a public building. There are no religious gatherings in places like this.
If I bagan to have a gathering of Christians with the singing of hymns & chanting @ that location......... I am sure I & my group would be carted off in handcuffs by the police.

Are these people that stupid to do these gatherings over and over without setting up unpassable points of entry by vehicle, a few piles of trash or rubble could have at least slowed down this pig enough to let someone shoot his worthless ass or let people scatter, security people must be violent and final.
It seems there are more "islamophobic" acts being committed by islamics against other islamics than there are "islamophobic" acts being committed by infidel "islamophobics" against islamics. Are those islamics who commit "islamophic" acts against other islamics to be called Islamoautophobics? Autoislamophobics? . . . . I'm so confused...
