Iranians are free to protest all they please, so long as they remain within their own borders and so long as their expats respect the laws of the nations in which they currently reside. Why is the Dutch government tolerating threats from the Iranian government? As for Iranian relations with the Netherlands, why shouldn't the Dutch be the ones to reconsider Dutch relations with Iran? That's taking a stand.

Threats of this kind would be totally ineffective if it were't for the fact that the Netherlands, and other Western nations, provides Muslims with the weapons to carry them out.

You would think that the murder of filmmaker Van Gough would tell the Dutch government that they are doing something wrong.
You would think that other Western governments would learn from Muslim behavior in their own countries. But, for whatever reasons, they don't.
It doesn't seem to have occured to any of them that there is a connection between a Muslem presence in their countries, and the fear of terrorism their people have to live with.

The Truth & Freedom of Speech are under attack again? Iran and like minded cult followers recoil from the Truth, because it exposes Islam for what it is: EVIL!

They've cried wolf one time too many. Do those of us in the west really care if Muslims are insulted, when everything we do insults Muslims? The whining from Muslims as they natter on about some perceived injustice or another, sounds like nyaa-nyaa-nyaa (picture thumb and fingers joined, opening and closing to the nattering) and is to be ignored like you would ignore a whining child. But these big babies are willing to get your attention with a boom and a bang, so acting as a responsible parent would when dealing with an unruly and strong willed child, we in the west have to be willing to put this child to bed with a spanking that corresponds to their misbehavior. We have to be stronger than them and be willing to call them on their B.S. and then follow up accordingly.
Of course devout, Iranian, Q'uran following Muslims don't want you to know about what devout, Q'uran following Muslims do. What is curious is why any of us in the west, with superior military strength, technology and, except for those infected with the political correctness bug,
superior intellect, would buy into these pathetic losers' tantrums and want to give them one inch. If they continue to attack our free speech and free thought, then we will have no alternative than to bomb the hell out of them, kill their leaders, take their oil and shut them up. If it comes to that, Ahmadinejad and his cronies will be fully responsible for pushing the west too far and will definitely get what they are asking for.
Geert is a member of Parliment in a free country. It is his job to express himself. Tt is his job to see the world as it realy is.

Wilders film will go out on time, it is part of the politically exposure that is allowed for politically parties on Dutch television. The Dutch government will certainly not like it they do not want like most western governments a confrontation with Islam at this moment, but if they ban him then they have no moral grounds to stand on concerning there own political propaganda being sent out over the television network. Wilders will have a field day in the Dutch parliament. For Wilders this is a win win situation. We have had much rabid threats hysteria and speculation on what the film will contain from the Muslims but I suspect that it will be on the lines of Robert Spencer (where have I heard that name before) factual and too the point with a few barbed comment. Attitudes are changing rapidly here in the Netherlands and people are getting very fed up. Wilders party the party for freedom has 9 members in the Dutch parliament and if an election was to be held now would have over 20. It is only a matter of time before he holds the balance of power in the parliament, if not at the next election but certainly the following one.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali actually came out against this film, stating that it was "provocation", I tend to agree with her. Now is not the time for Nationalist political parties to start tearing up Korans on camera. Let's leave that for the political artists and demonstrators.
Political parties need to stay focused, highlight the dangers of Islam and not fall into the trap of extremism and muslim baiting.
The problem with Europe, is the majority of Muslims ARE non ethnic Europeans so any derogatory statements towards Muslims IS seen as racist by the majority non muslims.
Has the Netherlands, has the E.U., have the member states of NATO, have the non-Islamic countries who need to form the non-O.I.C., warned Iran of the "consequences" both to the interests of Islam outside of the Infidel lands, and to the interests of Musliims, as they aggressively and self-assuredly see them, inside those same lands, that together make up the Bilad al-kufr, should there be any "consequences" from Muslims following upon the showing of Geert Wilder's film, or for that matter following upon any other exercises of freedom of speech that would, if that exercise was intended to analyze or mock any other "religion," would hardly raise an eyebrow,. and certainly not be a cause of death threats, or death.

This is about money. Iran has a long and lucrative trade history with the Netherlands. Check google and you'll see agricultural trade between the two countries sat at $45 million in 2005. That's agriculture only; caviar and poppies. If Iran is as bullish on developing non-oil exports as they say they are, it makes sense that they would start pressuring trade partners for more favorable treatment.
What we have is a win-win for Iranian MPs. By whipping up some quick outrage over ten minutes of film they get to manufacture a wedge issue for future trade talks while impressing the voting public with their toughness on the decadent Dutch.
This is speculation based on trade data from the CIA worldbook and press releases from the ICCIM.

Did anyone else notice the references to Wilder's "insulting" views about the "Holy Qur'an"? Usually even the vacilating Western Press would just say something like "controversial views". And what's with the "Holy Qur'an?"--surely this is a step further, even, than references to the "Prophet Mohammed".
Well, for those who are unfamiliar with this issue, the blandly-named PressTV is directly funded by the Iraninan government, as an news source opposed to both the Western press and news sources such as Al-Jizeera (in other words, against both the West and Sunni Islam).
It is supposed to be "independent", but I find that, shall we say, somewhat unlikely.
One of the principal "journalists" involved is the pitiable Yvonne Ridley, poster child for Stockholm Syndrome. She converted to Islam after being kidnapped by the Taliban.

I've read that same opinion from a few others posting from Europe, as well as from within the USA. I want to believe this to be true, but I NEVER see concrete evidence of it. On the contrary, I only see evidence of just the opposite.
Please, those of you who hold the opinion that "attitudes are changing" and "people are getting very fed up"...enlighten me, what factual basis do you have for holding this opinion?

I don't know where you live, let us say that you live in America and only speak English. Then what news you get about the Netherlands will be filtered through the MSM. What you read will be translations from Dutch newspapers which will also have been filtered for content, attacks on the indigenous Dutch will not be printed. If you spoke or read Dutch then you would be able to read the Dutch Newspapers and the Dutch Bloggs. My feelings are not quantifiable and I can't put a % on them, but I have noticed a change in the accerbic tone of my friends and the people I talk too here in the Netherlands, They do not say what they really mean in public, but they do say it in private with people that they trust. I live in a very rural part of the Netherlands, that has not been ethnically enhanced. And what I hear in my local pub would curl your toes. There is a feeling of impotency and anger. The only thing I can point too is that Wilders has 9 seats in the Dutch parliament public opinion polls say that if there was an election now Wilders Freedom Party would gain over 20 seats. Public opinion polls are not fool prove, but what they do give to the people who take part in them an anonymity which allows them to express there own views. I hope that this goes someway to explain the differences in our views.

Thank you for taking time to respond to my question.
I want to HOPE you are right when you say attitudes are changing in your country. I, too, have occasion to have drink in a tavern from time to time. When the topic turns to the jihad (what I refer to as the Jihad against the West) I am mostly odd man out. People think I'm crazy - a warmonger they call me. I have little confidence in our elected leaders. Six years out from 9-11 and so very few politicians speak candidly of the threat posed by islam to Western Civ. When I say to my friends that Europe must not be allowed to fall to islam they think I am out of my mind - how can Europe fall to islam they ask? I just shake my head and plead with them to find out what is happening in the world. I foresee the day - not in my lifetime - when my grandsons will be called upon to return to Europe to spill their blood - again - to save Europe from itself. It's really quite depressing.
I am of the opinion Europe must not be allowed to fall. Not everyone I know holds that opinion. Perhaps Europe must prove it's worth saving. That job rests upon you and yours.
I wish you well. Someday our grandsons will meet in common cause.
