Iran's Supremo: U.S. a global "danger"

Projection Alert. "Iran has no interest in US ties now: Khamenei," by Stuart Williams for AFP (thanks to all who sent this in):

TEHRAN (AFP) - Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Thursday that Iran sees "no benefit" in resuming ties with the United States at the moment but does not rule out a resumption of relations in the future.

In his most significant speech on foreign policy in several months, Khamenei also vowed that Iran would not halt sensitive work on its controversial nuclear programme as demanded by the West.

"Cutting ties with the United States is one of our basic policies. We have never said that they will be cut for ever," Khamenei told students in a speech in the central city of Yazd.

"The conditions of the US government are such now that it is harmful for us to resume relations," he said, describing the United States as a global "danger".

"Despite some talkative people's claims, it has no benefit for the Iranian nation.

"The day that relations with the United States are beneficial to the Iranian nation, I will be the first one to approve of that," he said.

I.e., when we become unequivocally and unanimously pliant.

I like so do not care.

California produces even better pistachios than Iran.

There is that oil thing, but we're working on that.

Is it coincidence that this statement was released on the eve of the Iowa caucus, the first US Presidential "primary"?

Have the Ayatollahs endorsed a Dhimmi candidate yet?

Yeah. We ARE a world threat. I hate the term global. A world threat to islam. Even with our dhimmis, we are a threat. We have shown we are quite capable and willing to go after terrorism, and therefore islam. Sure we have lapses in judgment from time to time, re Carter, Clinton, Bush(I & II), but we still act. The only limitations to our actions are self-imposed thereby supporting our notion of a superior culture. We could have easily nuked or carpet bomb any nation we have had initiated military ops against, but have restrained ourselves. We don't set out to kill civilians, unlike the terrorist groups funded and trained by Iran, et al. Civilians have died, and it weighs on our conscious, as it should in any civilized nation. Can any muslim nation claim the same? Certainly not Iran. So, go ahead and label us a world threat, we know what you mean.*wink wink*

We're a global danger? Now that's a switch, considering the fact that you're the ones threatening to wipe Israel off of the map; and lets not forget that you've threatened to destroy the US also.

In their minds Might makes Right. Well, just as Abraham Lincoln turned those words around when he said, "Right makes Might", while confronting slavery - so will we.

As a Canadian, I am aware that Americans tend to act first & think later. This does not make them a global evil but rather a bit like a well intentioned bull in a China shop.

Despite America's character flaws (I love you guys, but surprise surprise, you're not perfect), I don't cringe at the thought of a globe dominated by folks who believe that freedom is paramount for humanity. I do wish they would respect the freedoms of non-American countries, but as for being a global threat, give me a break.

Remember, if the Shariah Muslims take over the world, we non-Muslims will be enslaved, our churches closed and left to rot, our histories wiped out and humanity will enter a dark age that we might never recover from. If the choice is a Saudia Arabian Earth or a USA earth, I'm rooting for the big ugly Americans.

Americans should use their cultural dynamism to end the oil age! The eco-euro-trash would shut their mouths and we could decimate Arab countries which currently lack the economic power to employ their very young populations.

End the oil age, save the planet, send the Pharaoh Mohammad back to his desert!

"Is it coincidence that this statement was released on the eve of the Iowa caucus, the first US Presidential "primary"?"

I didnt think of that but now that you mention it, I doubt it was a coincidence.

LMAO...

Awww...Come on, Eilee--I mean, come on, Iran! You're really hurting my feelings, here!

Goodness! What on earth will we do without the love of Iran, the Ayatollah, or Monkey Man?

I feel so used!

PS: We can still watch you via satellite. Love from afar--how sweet is that?

James Martel,

You're right, we ain't perfect. And all too often we act in our own self interest to the detriment of our allies, but that is neither hear nor there right now. And the world would definitely be better off with US domination as compared to islam domination as you state. Fortunately for the world we don't seek that type of domination. We definitely need to stand shoulder to shoulder with our cousins up North and across the Pond to first stem the "red tide" known as islam then to push it back. I see our relationship with Canada, England and Australia in this light. We are family. And like any family we have our disagreements, but when push comes to shove we stand together to face a greater threat. All the while giving each other wet willies.:)

BTW, anything new happening with Mr. Steyn?

In a sane world, it's the US that should be stating that it's not interested in ties with Iran. But then, what can one expect, with the State Department running things?

From the Article "In his most significant speech on foreign policy in several months, Khamenei also vowed that Iran would not halt sensitive work on its controversial nuclear programme as demanded by the West."

But our intelligence agencies told us that program was scrapped in 2003. Are they wrong?

Frankly James, I wish we would quit playing world cop. If people in other countries want to kill each other, I say stay out of it and only intervene if it affects us or our allies.

And I'm a complete advocate of dissolving the U.N. and forming a new alliance consisting only of western style democracies. All others bugger off. The U.N. has been taken over by dictatorships and despots, yet the wealthy democratic/industrialized nations keep funding it. To what end?

Well, so much for "dialog". Just when we thought claiming their Nuclear Program for a Bomb was over and everything could be nice nice.

No doubt they would love to dictate terms of our surrender in our old Embassy.

Why can I only picture a robot spinning around with it's arms in the air "DANGER DANGER DANGER".

"I do wish they would respect the freedoms of non-American countries..."

James Martel,

Exactly what does this mean? What countries are we free to ignore?

American involvement is characterized as butting in. Non-involvement means we're just lazy. Which would you prefer? What non-American countries would you like to see us not deal with or deal with differently?

The US is expected to deal with Iran, but the Iranians are free to do as they please and the world doesn't say boo.

Thanks for pointing out that the US is not a global threat. Can Montreal become the new home of the UN? With its grand architecture and history, the UN would be right at home there. (My second choice is Paris)

What is Canada doing to end the oil age? Surely you have much greater cultural dynamism than we Americans. But instead you're profiting from oil.

You also have your share of people who think America is a global threat:

"My anti-Americanism has become almost uncontrollable. It has possessed me, like a disease. It rises up in my throat like acid reflux, that fashionable American sickness. I now loathe the United States and what it has done to Iraq and the rest of the helpless world. I have tried to control my anti-Americanism, remembering the many Americans I know and respect, but I can't keep it down any longer."

Margaret Drabble, novelist (February, 2003)

Too bad the USA IS NOT an imperialist country.

I don't find any of this funny in the least. Sorry, but I have lost my sense of humor on this issue. The stakes are too high. We are talking about a nuclear situation we will be facing, as well as terrorism, probably in combination. First Israel bears the brunt, then the rest of us. This is too eerily a replay of the Nazi scenario, with the world finding excuses and doing nothing. Russia supplying the Iranians is the same role the Russians played with the Germans before WWII, building up their armaments while the world let this violation of the Treaty of Versailles go unchecked. How was Iran not dealt with early on? Lack of intelligence (with the dual meanings of that word). Why are they not being dealt with now? Lack of guts? Delusional denial? Something we don't know? The Iranians have a plan, and we are dovetailing into it perfectly. They want to dominate the region, and then become a world super-power. Of course, they also believe the mahdi is on his way, to be ushered in on a sea of world chaos and destruction. Doing nothing will not make it better. They are arrogant now, sure of their divine mission. Once they have the nukes, they will be even surer they have Allah's divine mandate to punish and subdue the unbelievers. Have the smart boys in the State Department decided it would be too messy to do anything this late in the game? Later will be so very much worse. Does anybody read this blog? Do our leaders have any vision or even any simple common sense? How about self-respect? Is this administration really cozying up to these snakes?

Iran needs to be converted to worshiping the great God-JDAM. Multiple services to its wisdom is required. Let none be without its scripture. May all feel its grace. Services should be held soon for their salvation.

The United States is in the sights of the Ummah because - like the Byzantine, Persian or Hind societies of the past - it is big, beautiful and rich, a pirate's dream of plunder.

Had the USA been strictly isolationist for the past 300 years, had it never stirred outside the Americas, had it never even set foot anywhere in the mediterranean, Europe, Middle East or Africa, ever, it would *still* be a target for the Jihad.

The House of Saud thinks it can take the USA by fraud and bribery. Slow Jihad.

The Iranians, meanwhile, think they can take America by nuclear mayhem - Fast Jihad.

The great God-JDAM

Gateway to paradise, Harbinger of the 72 virgins, beneficent bestower of Peace – may he fly swift and true!

Deus Vult!

Being the world's policeman is a hard and thankless job and I wish the U.S.A. didn't have to fulfill that role. Everyone likes an underdog and when the big guy gives the little guy a thumping, nobody is very happy. On the other hand we keep out of everyones business and we take the shaft for allowing genocides in the Balkans and Rwanda, etc.

If we did not call Iran on their BS, we would certainly be better friends with them on the surface. Would that make for a better world situation? If the government of Iran ( not necessarily all the people) is not angry and concerned with us, then I would feel that there is something wrong with us.

We should carry a certain pride that the despots in Iran want nothing to do with us.

Undoubtedly we make mistakes. The democracy in Iraq project being possibly the biggest. The USA acts in its own self interest as any country should. The majority of Europeans and Canadians revile us for this. It saddens me that we are not 'nice' enough to get along better with our allies, but we should make no apologies for being 'a danger' to Iran.

James Martel -

I know I'm not the only one to feel that the most affective weapon to Jihad is the development of an alternative to oil.

Unfortunately, both Bush Senior and Bush Junior are oilman.

However, I see a bit of a sea change in attitudes to alternative fuels and energy sources. We need to require our auto manufacturers to make multi-fuel cars. They already market and sell such vehicles in Brazil. We need to reexamine nuclear power sources, geothermal energy, wind power and tidal electricity generation (Bay of Fundy?).

Most importantly, we need a breakthrough in battery technology. GM manufactured the EVO-1, an all electric car in response to legislation in the State of California.

It can be do and Inshallah (I'm joking!), it will be done.

Imagine this: After being the world's leading economic and military power since about 1890, the USA goes bonkers and decides to wipe out the rest of humanity--- JUST LIKE THAT!!!!!

Of course, if the USA truly wanted to inflict mass casualties on the world, all it would need to do is cut off its massive food exports to third world countries like Iran and then watch them disintegrate into chaos and widespread starvation. But don't tell that to the Mullahs and thereby smash their glass house, they might nuke you for that.

The Iranian mullahs can pretend that they are concerned for the fate of humanity if they like. But the last time I checked, the Kuran teaches that only the Islamic parts of the world matter and it is the job of Muslims to exterminate the remainder of humanity. Thus, it is hard to believe that this latest declaration by the mullahs is anything more than taqiyya (and unconvincing taqiyya at that, the Mullahs and the Muslims mostly AREN'T concerned about the remainder of the world, as we all know, since the Kuran tells them being so is downright evil). These folks are getting desperate.

Anyway, the United States IS going to find a way to crush Islam for good along with the infinite horrors it has spawned. When it does, this will not be "dangerous" to the world. It will be beneficial.

Then the mullahs will be out of of a job. Yawn.

The great God J-DAM desires a more timely conversion. a more rapid return to the Bedouin life. One where Fuel, Electricity, Water, and Sewage services will not poison the well of the Faithful.
