fRIDA, Unfortunately twice in the last few days I have heard BLOOMBERG RADIO report on Israeli artillery attacks on Gaza, without ANY mention of them being in retaliation for ANYTHING. Unbelievable.
Same on NPR this morning. Israeli warplanes bombed targets in Gaza. No mention of katyushas, kassams, or what have you.
You'd think they'd treat one of their greatest weapons against us with care.

The video of the Navy encounter with the Iran boats produced an interview with an Atlanta mother who was so thrilled to hear the voice of her son that she has been on ABC channel two, Atlanta.
The video of the lady discussing hearing her son's voice as the ships counter-terrorism officer on the ship has been running since last evening.

She mentioned that her son's job is classified (not any more) and that it really impressed her how calm he was in handling such a dangerous situation. He is the one who announces the inbounds to the coalition ships.

I thought Olmert offered to give Golan to Syria, and Syria refused. Maybe I got that wrong, maybe it was Gaza he gave to the 'Palestinins', and now probably, he will give them, The West Bank, and Jerusalem.
Later if he has time, he will bring all the Israeli people into the area immediately in, and around Tel Aviv. He will build a big wall around them and give the rest of 'Palestine' to the Palestinians. But that won't be enough so he will build a fleet of ships and evacuate all of Israel to the sea. Then he will give the remainder of what was Israel to the Palestinian people. Israel will become a nation of landless boat people. No one can accuse Olmert of not being generous, he makes everybody happy...
This is almost the most bizarre thing I have ever read about, at least in the realm of national defense.
The entire Gaza problem could be solved in about a week, perhaps with no shots fired. Simple: Just block all electricity, food, fuel, medicine, money, basically, anything going in or out of Gaza. Give them a choice: stop the attacks, turn over all weapons, identify the location of all tunnels, turn over all members of terrorist groups to Israel, or starve to death. Why Israel should nurture its enemies is beyond me. My method requires no massive invasion. Just turning off the flow of resources. It's easy. Yet, they don't do it. Why?
Frankly, much of Israel (the government) sickens me. If people want to commit national suicide, or don't want to protect themselves, why should I care?

You ask the question about Israel. I ask it about the US. I want to know why I should care what happens to this country. Why shouldn't the people who don't want to take a stand against evil (GWB had it right the first time!) get exactly what they deserve?
If people don't care about their culture enough to fight for it then maybe it's time to let it die. They obviously don't believe in it anymore or they wouldn't be so passive. Israel isn't the only country in this dilemma.
There will be enclaves of freedom all over the world (in the US, anyway) where people who DO care will fight back but the rest of them? They'll take the easy way out and convert. In that case, they deserve whatever they get.
