Muslim spokesman says Taslima must bow down and apologize to Muslims

And then they'll think about not killing her. Oh, the magnanimity! Taslima Nasreen Update: "Taslima must apologise to Muslims: Dasmunsi," from the Central Chronicle (thanks to all who sent this in):

Kolkata, Jan 6: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi Sunday said controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen should apologise with "folded hands" for hurting the sentiments of Muslims of the country, and hinted that her book "Dwikhandito" could be banned.

Talking to reporters in Malda in West Bengal, he said: "We are a pluralistic nation and we respect all religions. I love literature and I have nothing against her writing. But that does not mean she can use her pen to insult and hurt the religious belief of the Muslims or for that matter any religion."

"The comments made by her in the book in question were uncalled for. She should bow down before the people whose sentiments she has hurt and apologise with folded hands, and expunge those pages from her book," Dasmunsi said.

"We did not allow Salman Rushdie's book ('The Satanic Verses') when it caused a flutter and raised controversy. She will not be an exception," said Dasmunsi.

How long will India remain a free society? For in a free society, no one has a right not be insulted.

Personally I think she should tell them what orifice to stick the apology. But then I'm not the one stuck in a safe house with armed guards. The dilemma is most unfortunate. Any bets on whether or not our resident apologists will say something about this? I can hear the propaganda typing now.lol

If they're going to begin banning books, they can start with the Koran, which advocates a lot worse than just hurting the sentiments of non-Moslems. Or maybe they could just "expunge" the "hurtful" pages.

"in a free society, no one has a right not [to] be insulted."
-- from the article above

That last phrase surely should be credited to Wouter Bos, who is quoted saying exactly that, this very day, in a posting at 12:36 p.m.), on the thread about dogs named Muhammad and interfaith-healers in Maine:

"In the affair of the photographs, no doubt the kind of mapplethorpian thing that are not to everyone's taste, Wouter Bos, the deputy prime minister of the Netherlands, said the right thing when both museum directors, and other political figures, were saying the wrong one.

And here is what he said:

“'In a democracy, we do not recognise the right not to be insulted.'”

The Indian government has to come down hard not on Taslima Nasreen but on those who, such as fork-tongued Mr. Dasmunsi ("I love literature and I have nothing against her writing" but on the other hand "that does not mean she can use her pen to insult and hurt the religious belief of the Muslims or for that matter any religion") are unwilling or unable to stand up for freedom of speech, as it is now understood in the democracies. Or is India, Bangalore computer wizards and all, going to settle like China for economic growth, like China, but will demonstrate its incapacity to enforce the rights of the individual that characterize, that are the defining essence of, advanced Western democracies?

As far as I know, bowing to anyone other than allah is to commit the heinous crime of shirk (attributing partners to allah.)

If Miss Nasreen stays in India for one day longer than it takes her to get a visa and come to America, she's insane.

"Respect for all religions" does not include accepting death threats as a reasonable response to the expression of an opinion. It must not.

All I can say is the only time that I will ever bow in the presence of any Muslim demanding I submit to them, is when I go prone to get a better sight picture.

Dasmunsi might want to do something about an 'artist' by the name of MF Husein (I didn't make up the initials), who did their equivalent of piss christ by painting Hindu goddesses in the nude. Then give us that excrement about how his group respects all religions.

LOL! Dasmusnsi is not Muslim, he is most likely Hindu or Christian! He is a perefect Multicultural Dhimmi!

Christians should now start revolt against blasphemy of Muslims against Christianity! Come Easter, we should have millions of Christians having a Million Christian March against Islamic blasphemy against their faith! Treat Muslims the way they treat others!

Comedian Mitch Hedberg the has a routine. He says 'kinda' is a bland expression except in certain situations. "We did the tests and you're going to
live - kinda."

The future of democracy: "I believe in free speech - kinda"

For in a free society, no one has a right not be insulted.

Tell that to our leaders who insist on writing PC laws making it a crime to express ill feelings toward someone else.

India's not the only country with a reason to worry.

Dasmunsi might want to do something about an 'artist' by the name of MF Husein .., who did their equivalent of piss christ by painting Hindu goddesses in the nude.

I must admit I don't know much about Hindu goddesses, or about how Hindus feel about them, but somehow I don't think paintings of them in the nude would be very offensive. Some of the stone-carvings on their temples are pretty raunchy. But maybe those ladies don't represent goddesses.

How strange it is that the followers of the "Religion of Peace" always make the case for what ever point an Author makes.

I wonder why the Communists(progressives) in our Country are not as Gutsy as Mz.Taslima? If they were, we might actually make some real progress at exposing the Moderates from the Radicals.

How Ironic can it get. Here we are supporting a Communists free speech rights while a Tiger has the collective Tongues of our own.

"Things keep getting tougher everyday"

Words cannot express how tired I am of hearing about the tender "religious sentiments" of Muslims.

I could not care less about their puny little god, their loathsome prophet, and their hate-spewing book, all of which are apparently so delicate as to require constant protection from any kind of questions or discussion. (After all, if even a smidge of rational thought is allowed, followers with more than two brain cells might start to question the "faith").

India is a former British colony, but they obviously didn't completely grasp Western culture and the reasoning behind our laws. There are still many instances of bride-murder due to insufficient dowry; as well, many parts of the country still adhere to the rigid caste system. (And Hindu activists have attacked Christian evangelists because the low-caste Dalits are converting to Christianity in great numbers.)

It seems that in most places in the world, the voice of reason is very faint; and is always in terrible danger of being overpowered by the shrieks of fanatics....

I wouldn’t say one has the right to insult specifically any individual (think about it) but

In a free society, no ideology, & no religion has the right not to be insulted, trashed and spit upon.

FM - Why shouldn't one be able to insult an individual?

Das Munshi is a hindu dhimmi of secular sonia congress MP
He is a greedy vote banker, and depends on muslim votes. In his constituency in west bengal, he has imported 50000 muslim bangladeshi illegal aliens as a vote bank
These illegal muslims are making life hell for the hindus in his town and within 20 miles of the bangladesh border, most hindus have been ethnio cleansed by low level violence of these muslim

And Hindu activists have attacked Christian evangelists because the low-caste Dalits are converting to Christianity in great numbers
A_nonny_mouse

Christian missionaries in India would be worthy of a lot more respect once they

  • Start targeting their conversions towards Muslims, rather than just remote tribesmen.
  • Instead of joining Muslims in ganging up against Hindus, start speaking out about the persecution of fellow Christians in Pakistan, Indonesia, Iraq and other such places.

Painting goddesses in the nude would be depicting them as sex objects, as opposed to focuses of worship, and would be, from a Hindu standpoint, blasphemous and offensive. Sure, it doesn't necessarily warrant violence, but the point in mentioning it was that it's yet one more example of Mohammedans failing to value the Golden Rule.

India isn't a free society and never has been. Don't fall for the propaganda. Anyone who knows anything about the politicians in the country, knows that the parliaments are filled with people who have been charged with one crime or another, or have been accused of anything and everything from corruption to murder.

Indian democracy is a joke. To expect this guy to NOT be a dhimmi is naive... remember India was ruled for what, a thousand years by Muslims and then in the south and other parts for 400 years by the British for one simple reason. The elites in India (Brahmins mostly) have ingratiated themselves to any occupier to the detriment of everyone else.

India is not a bastion of anti-dhimmitude, despite what any Indian will tell you.

“FM - Why shouldn't one be able to insult an individual?”

Depends on the individual & circumstance– does your neighbor have the right to insult your wife (by, say, name calling or racial epithet)? Your child? One can criticize anyone, but even US jurisprudence recognizes “fighting words” as something not protected by the Constitution. Someone tells you your ideas are shit, that’s one thing – that you or your wife is shit is another.

....probably true...I do not see much by the Indian government or military in the way of combating Muslim terrorists who continuely attack Indians and continue to encroach upon the property and rights of the Indian citizens...

...Islam is a death cult....
