Qaddafi's son waging jihad in Iraq

Or so says a Sunni colonel. "Gadhafi Son May Be Linked to Iraq Attack," by Muheiddin Rashad for Associated Press (thanks to all who sent this in):

BAGHDAD (AP) - A devastating explosion in northern Iraq was spearheaded by foreign fighters under the sponsorship of Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, son of the Libyan leader, a security chief for Sunni tribesmen who rose up against al-Qaida in Iraq said Saturday.

Col. Jubair Rashid Naief, who also is a police official in Anbar province, said the Anbar Awakening Council had alerted the U.S. military to the possible arrival in the northern city of Mosul of the Seifaddin Regiment, made up of about 150 foreign and Iraqi fighters, as long as three months ago. [...]

"They crossed the Syrian border nearest to Mosul within the last two to three months. Since then, they have taken up positions in the city and begun blowing up cars and launching other terror operations," Naief told The Associated Press.

The so-called Anbar Awakening Council is a grouping of Sunni tribes in the western province that last year turned against al-Qaida and began working with U.S. forces. The council is credited with the sharp drop in violence in the former insurgent redoubt.

[...]

Naief did not explain why the younger Gadhafi would be sponsoring the group of fighters. Seif Gadhafi, however, was quoted by the Austrian Press Agency last year as warning Europeans against more attacks by radical Islamists.

"The only solution to contain radicalism is the rapid departure of Western troops from Iraq as well as Afghanistan, and a solution to the Palestinian question," Gadhafi was quoted as saying....

Sounds as if Siefulislam Qaddafi would get along famously with Ron Paul.

Meanwhile:

A suicide bomber then killed a police chief and two other officers Thursday as they toured the devastation. Residents taunted the chief and pelted him with rocks moments before he was killed.

Feel the love.

Sounds like the Anbar Awakening Council needs to battle its fellow Iraqis, the ones who taunted the chief and pelted him with rocks. They come across as supporters of the bombers. How many know who these people are and are tacitly supporting them?

The last time I heard from Moammar's son
in the media he appeared to be espousing moderate views, but then again as Robert say; "war is deceit".

Again I fill inclined to just repost my Scorched Earth position.

This is yet another argument that the "Marshall Plan" or the "Kerry Pottery Barn Rule" should NOT apply to Mohammedan holdings.

I recommend “SCORCHED EARTH”. We should bomb the bridges, damns, tunnels, cell towers, and power plants. After all if they so love living like 7th century savages, we should help them out in that way.

We can then let the House of Saud drain their coffers to repair it all for their Mohammedan “Brothers and Sisters”. The same way they helped the Tsunami victims in Indonesia.

To paraphrase Nicolo Machiavelli (1469AD -1527AD) in "The Prince" printed in 1513AD
"It is better to be feared then loved by ones enemies."

"We can then let the House of Saud drain their coffers to repair it all for their Mohammedan “Brothers and Sisters”. The same way they helped the Tsunami victims in Indonesia."

Great idea, in my opinion. Problem is, even if we stated we wouldn't, America would still come to the rescue, in the end. We can't seem to help it. By now, it's probably a behaviour that is encoded into our DNA.

Nation building--what a waste of taxpayer money.

Interesting post.

I have a student journalist contact who was researching the Muslim Brotherhood in the UK. This outfit regrettably operates freely in Britain. Through them he was immediately offered contacts with the leadership in Syria and Libya. Who presumably are also in exile in the UK.

I didn't realise there was a Libyan arm of the MB. But this might be one outcome.

When push comes to shove, we'll be the ones paying to rebuild all those bridges, whether they were destroyed by infidel armed forces or islamic jihadists.
Saudi coffers are filled with oil money. Saudis will replenish them by raising the price of oil.
Otherwise it will be the UN relief agencies, and guess who funds them?
The most direct (and probably most efficient) funding source is the infidel taxpayer.
Count on us to open our wallets once again. Everyone will point to the precedent of Japan and Germany and say we can't do any less.

"I didn't realise there was a Libyan arm of the MB."
-- from a posting above

Why would there not be the Ikhwan everywhere that there are Muslims? Sometimes tolerated by the regime, sometimes subject to that regime's attempts at manipulation, and sometimes suppressed? In Egypt, Libya's neighbor, all three methods have been tried.

The Muslim Brotherhood is identified with, got its start in, Egypt, where it was founded by Hassan Al-Banna, grandfather of Tariq Ramadan, whose hissing presence, with that tongue you always half-expect to flicker out, always reminds me of that line by Robert Frost: "Where the snake stood up for evil in the Garden." But the Muslim Brotherhood, the Ikhwan, existed -- its ideas existed, its views existed -- long before it was formally created by Hassan Al-Banna. It merely reflects mainstream Muslim views, and was created in Egypt just after Lord Cromer's administration (that brought a semblance of efficiency and good government to the Egyptian Civil Service, and the effects lingered for a short while, until the re-egyptianization of the state after World War II), by the true-blue Muslims who resented not only the English, but the equal treatment of the Copts, the Jews, the assorted "crusader" or "frangi" Infidels, the Italians, Greeks, Armenians et al. most of whom had all of their property seized, and they themselves left penniless and then expelled, under that hideous man -- who was nonetheless regarded as an enemy, despite his under-the-"secularism"-there-was-Islam ways, Gamal Abdel Nasser.

American tolerance and even support (that foreign aid that supplies more loot for Mubarak's Family-and-Friends Plan) for the current regime in Egypt has not hindered the activities, but has indeed contributed to local support for, the Muslim Brotherhood. And right now, if that Mubarak regime goes - and Mubarak's attempts to create a dynasty (hell, everyone's doing it -- even in the U.S.A.) -- it will be hard for Mubarak's son, Son of Pharaoh, the one who gives off such an unpleasantly oily impression, like so many, in the Middle East, of these second-generation sons of tough, even thuggish fathers, who may wear Western clothes, and be to the oil-or-jizyah financed manner born, but remain awkwardly primitive in their interior existence, which is the only thing that counts.

If American aid to Egypt, which means the rulers of Egypt, is cut off, that will make it less, not more, likely that the MB will not inherit that land. American policy toward Egypt would best be taken by endowing the title of that spiritual with a different meaning:

"Go down, Pharoah, go down in Egypt land."

Too bad he wasn't taken out in 1986 in the raid on Tripoli that took out Qaddafi's adapted daughter.

Anybody know how the contents of the Green Book are different from the Qur'an?

My enemy, oh snake! Around the land, you are coiled. You have no choice, oh enemy, but to leave my country"

Charming, kind of reminds me of Bing Crosby singing ...

"Adeste fideles, laetit triumphants, venite, venite in Bethlehem! Natum videte regem angelorum: venite adoremus, venite adoremus, venite adoremus Dominum! "

in the Bells of Saint Mary.

"My enemy, oh snake!" is simply lovely, and reminds me of the sweetness an innocence of childhood.

Ahhhhh, the rapture and pulhritude of jihad; tis a lovely venom of innocence... "ah tiskit, a taskit, a green and yellow casket ...."

'The sword of Islam' should have been taken out a long time ago, just like his terrorist father. Targeted assassinations would be a blessing for the Gaddafi's...

Add him to the deck of cards!!!!!

Yes, sorry to say that the MB operate completely openly on UK university campuses. Anything that interrupts with their recruiting is Islamophobia, don't you know anything?

Yes, also to the final part. There is a powerful MB in Libya. Not only that but the UK was more than happy to work with it to try and depose Gaddafi.

The demo outside the Lybian embassy in London which ended with the shooting of the UK policewoman, Yvonne Fletcher, was organised by the Lybian MB, in exile, billeted in London at UK taxpayers expense.

London happily tolerates the MB, as does Germany, the US

The MB in exile should be crated up, em masse, and shipped back to the Arab Nationialist gov't where their security forces will do naughty things to them with hammer, nail and cattle prod.

Couldn't happen to nicer guys

After WW2, the MB needed a new sponsor now that Nazi Germany had been defeated. They found one in Western countries, particularly UK, Germany -the Syrian MB, those that didn't get wiped out at Hama were warmly received by the German Gov't- and of course the US who to this day are trying to mend their fences with the MB.

Even after 9 11

That's how dumb the West is.

You see, for many New Yorkers and Londoners, Al Qaeda are heroes when their victims are worthless Serb peasants, but when Al Qaeda turn their attention closer to home, oh my, well that's another story. A Yank bloke I know, after 9 11, his face a picture of complete shock, wailed "Why don't they like us?". He does have a point. The US had been very good to the Islamists for decades. Naughty Bin Laden really should be more grateful.

So, these Muslims gov'ts really do have a point when they point out that the West is more than happy to play loving host to terrorists -Islamist terrorists at that- whilst at the same time, Bush, Brown, etc lecture the World on terror.

Har di har, Hugh.

Oh, isn't that just so true.

If i remember correctly Gaddafi disarmed of WMD and paid the lockerbie billions to make friends with the WEST.

I guess his son went afoul with his policies and has gone JIHADIST:may be gaddafi has no choice.

Is he the same guy who was trying to buy soccer clubs in Europe who has realized his silly lavish life. May be he is trying to find meaning in his life and has seen Iraq as the place to focus all his energies.

...I can see where a Muslims would forgo enjoying soccer , owning a team, experiencing the joy of winning a soccer game, traveling to soccer stadiums across Europe, being able to enjoy meeting the soccer fans, dining out with other owners, holding entertaining interviews with the sports media, and doing all the things that a wealth sports club owner can do...for the exciting lifestyle that may included not being able to bathe regularly, the constant
association with dirty street fighters who have just returned from killing some Muslim civilians, Christian civilians, or other NonMuslim civilians, or participating in the torture of someone who refuses to join you...the soft caress of your AK-47, the smooth feel of the grenades in your palm..the excitement of being attacked by those who have the ability to return your fire....the thrill of scattered body parts spread by the bomb you placed earlier and listening to those thrilling hate speeches by the local crazed, bearded, fingerpointing Islamic cleric re-enforcing your belief that all who refuse to submit must die.....

....sure beats listening to those crazed soccer fans when their team scores....

...The Muslims sure know how to enjoy themselves...they set their own priorities as prescribed in the Qur'an....
