Syria's Grand Mufti: "If a man dies because of information that you have made public, his death will be on your conscience"

Or, as Kathy Shaidle puts it, "Publish stuff we don't like, and we'll kill you."

"Top Syrian cleric says media can cause war," from AFP (thanks to Five Feet of Fury):

STRASBOURG (AFP) - Syria's top Sunni Muslim cleric urged the media Tuesday to use caution when reporting on religion, saying that the choice and timing of a report can cause a war.

"A simple piece of information can spark a war. If a man dies because of information that you have made public, his death will be on your conscience," Shiekh Ahmed Badreddin Hassun told reporters at the European Parliament.

His remarks came in response to questions about the 2005 crisis when satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed first published in Denmark caused an uproar in the Muslim world, resulting in protests and several deaths.

The Grand Mufti expressed regret over what he said was the "instrumentalisation of this dossier, which arose from a simple, isolated case."

He doesn't seem to have said anything about the three cartoons that were much more incendiary than the ones that were actually printed in the paper, and which were added into this dossier by Islamic clerics. Instead, it's all the media's fault:

"Some television stations chose Friday, one hour before prayers" to broadcast the story, he said, adding that "there are media who want to create a conflict" between the West and the Muslim world....

Well, then they have enough dead people on their "consciences" already, so I got nothing on them. Fine by me...let the comparisons begin.

Believe you me, the Western (so-called mainstream) media is doing all it can to whitewash every story related to islam and muslims so as to downplay the conflict begun by islam 1400 years ago.

Control of information has always been critical to the growth of Islam; for centuries the Moslems have relied on violence to assert that control.

Then the JudeoChristians got into the act, ironically, at the dawn of mass media witht the art and practice of Opinion Programming. First it was used to fortify the WWII effort, a good thing, then, during the post-war period, to push Marxist sensibilities, a terrible thing.

So here's the equation:

6th Pillar + Modern Opinion Programming = Ascendant Islam / Subsumed Marxism

610 * 623 * 632 * 1066 * 1215 * 1453 * 1492 * 1683 * 1928 * 1938 * 1948 * 1996 * 2001

And to think we always identified Marxism with atheism.

Seems to me he's saying "One excuse is as good as another to start a war." There's no accountability/responsibility with these guys.

The dear Grand Mufti, in his speech, singled out the Netherlands in general and Geert Wilders in particular, openly threatening violence against both if Wilders' movie is deemed unaccetable by the worlds Muslims.

And the members of EP applauded politely. Europe may not yet be lost. The EUnion most certainly is.

Oh, darn. Should I feel guilty or something?

I will worry about my conscience when the Grand Mufti starts worrying about his lack of one.

"If a man dies because of information that you have made public, his death will be on your conscience."

These are words I wish George Bush and others could say publicly to the media as reporters reveal details of top-secret programs to catch terrorists, as they endanger the financial health of private companies by revealing who is cooperating in this effort, as they publish as fact the rumor that someone "defiled a koran in gitmo", etc.

However these words are wasted because our reporters don't have a conscience. If they did, no one would know of the many means that were being used to track terrorist finances, follow terrorist movements, etc. Osama should never have known that we were following his mobile phone.

After all, the media are careful not to publicize the Islamic motivation behind many acts. A man killed his daughters. That's it, just like any other act of family violence. If the people involved weren't Muslim, we'd know everything about the man and his inner psyche and what might have motivated him and he would be in jail instead of (most likely) hiding out in Egypt.

The sociopath's mantra,
"look at what you made me do."

This is a little piece I have translated from the Dutch for all those who can't read Dutch. Firstly the Mufti blames it all on somebody else. Then he threatens , then he lays down conditions. The man doesn't want a dialogue he wants to give a lecture. The worst part about the whole affair was it was in the European Parliamentary building. To think I am going to be forced to be a citizen of this new super state when the treaty is signed in Lisbon next year fills me with disgust. To think that I will be ruled by these corrupt dumb nuts makes me shake for my children's future. Anyway please enjoy, you have to admit though that Wilders does have a way with words.
Translation:-

If the film about Islam from Geert Wilders leads to violence, then it is his fault. This was said by the Grand Mufti Ahmad Dadr Al-Din al Hassoun from Syria during his visit to the European Parliament. If Wilders goes so far as to rip or burn the Koran. This shall according to the Grand Mufti be a reason for “War and Bloodshed”. According to Al-Hassoun is it the responsibility of the Dutch people to restrain him.
Right to offend.

The Grand Mufti does not believe in the right to offend: “ Who the Koran or the prophet Mohammed offends offends also the European standards and values for respecting another man's belief” The cleric will speak with Wilders, but not if the PVV Chairman defiled the Koran. “Then there is no reason more for dialogue”

The reaction from Wilders about these comments from al-Hassoun was short and sweet “ MAD”

"A simple piece of information can spark a war. If a man dies because of information that you have made public, his death will be on your conscience," Shiekh Ahmed Badreddin Hassun told reporters at the European Parliament."

Sounds logical as usual, there CAN be situations where people die because of pieces of information.

BUT, what he really means is, "We kill when you disagree with us." OR "We WILL find an excuse to kill you."

Sounds pretty clear cut to me. You want to kill kaffir.

"...if a man dies because of information that you have made public, his death will be on your conscience," Shiekh Ahmed Badreddin Hassun told reporters at the European Parliament.

No, actually if the deaths were of Muslims killing each other in the process of rioting over cartoons, books or teddy bears I'd be so tickled and amused that I wouldn't wash my conscience for weeks. How can he actually say this with a straight face? And how can anyone listen to it without falling on the floor in hysterical laughter? Funny folks.

Holger Dansker,

What about Tony Blair being the president of EU?

The grand mufti isn't the only one who doesn't believe in the right to offend. We have forfeited that right by virtue of all the "hate" speech laws enacted in the US and Europe.

Political correctness is all about not offending anyone, or at least not offending some people.

Hopefully not, they want a talking head who comes over well. All things to all men. What frightens me is that the Frogs are pushing for him. When they start agreeing with the baboons that are pushing him in England and the rest of Europe there is something seriously wrong. He will most likely take it if it is offered to him because he will automatically get immunity from prosecution like all the rest of the bloody commission. He made bloody sure they couldn't prosecute him in Britain by getting rid of the treason and sedition laws in 1997. I wont say I hate the man otherwise the Blasphemy police will come and get me when the new European Anti Racism Xenophobia laws come into affect in a couple of years time. Let me just say that I have an exceedingly strong contempt for the gentleman. Allowing a creature like this one from Syria to lecture us on how we should behave and act in the European parliament building just goes to show how far we have degraded ourself s. I am almost weeping with anger.

"'A simple piece of information can spark a war. If a man dies because of information that you have made public, his death will be on your conscience,' Sheikh Ahmed Badreddin Hassun told reporters at the European Parliament.'
-- from the article above

What does this mean? It means that he is telling Europeans that if they dare to publish certain things (described vaguely, and with the intent to obfuscate, as "information that you have made public"), and this maddens Muslims, and causes them to commit acts of violence, and someone dies -- an Infidel, or possibly a Muslim in a riotous mob -- then the "death will be on your conscience" -- that is, it will be the fault of the Infidels for having dared to "make public" certain "information."

It's just another way to try to suppress free speech. Now, instead of those death threats made to Danes travelling in Muslim countries, a different tack is being taken: the tack of appealing to the consience of those who would "make public" these things, and thereby, in his logic, cause the death of one or more human beings.

Transparent, and not worth a second's serious consideration.

Conscience?

Prophet Mohammad didn't have it; how in hell can they be different?

interestinconundrum hit the nail squarely on the head.

Gran Muffin: "If a man dies because of information that you have made public, his death will be on your conscience".

The cartoons should be in every conceivable publication, continuously, until these idiots either they learn to live with it, kill themselves protesting, or we kill them because we're tired of hearing it.

In the interest of safety, I feel obligated to remind the Muffin that the first stiff wind catching the flying saucer airfoil on his head could snap his neck. There, my conscience is clear.

"there are media who want to create a conflict" between the West and the Muslim world..."

"Create"? Hello...

Was the Mufti criticizing the New York Times for releasing vital U.S. intelligence secrets?

Go Mufti!

Rake Pinch!

The most chilling detail is how the thug's threats are censored from the official EU information about the event. Please take a look at this Soviet style propaganda mishmash:

Hey, that's not all.

The Syrian Grand Mufti who addressed the Dhimmicrats on intercultural dialogue, last year condemned the book of a Finnish author, Leena Lander, as un-Islamic.

Lander was in Damascus at the time promoting her book that was just translated from Finnish into Arabic, The Home of the Dark Butterflies".

She left Dodge in a hurry, cancelling all other planned stops in Syria.
