Anti-dhimmitude. "Danish lawmakers cancel trip to Iran," from AP (thanks to Sr. Soph):
A group of Danish lawmakers have canceled a trip to Iran because Tehran demanded they condemn the reprinting of Prophet Muhammad cartoons in newspapers, a spokeswoman said Saturday.Mette Vestergaard, a committee official, confirmed the cancellation. "The Iranian ambassador asked the Foreign Policy Committee to condemn the drawings. They can't and they won't," she said without giving more details.
Finally! - a tiny step in the right direction taken by a very few Western "elites". Many many more similar actions must be taken by all of our "elites" and much more often. Not only by the "elites" of the West but by all who reject the 7th century mentality of the islamosupremacists and refuse to allow them any degree of further encroachment upon the civilized world.
now the Iranians will probably condemn the Dutch for the Dutch refusing to become good little dhimmi
to the Iranian barbarians that are mired back in seventh century and have delusions that their cult uses so-called final word fromG-D or Allha maybe one day, they will finally wake up and realize the world is laughing at them and their creepy. Profit Mohammed, you want proof of how arrogant they are. Just look at the Iranian minister, who demanded that the Dutch cancel the movie that's about to come out about their cult. seeing freedom of speech and human rights are only for Muslims in the eyes of Muslims, because we're infidels and have rejected their cult and Mohamed we cannot have human rights, which include freedom of speech and freedom to worship as we wish and many other human rights, because then we are not human, because we have not accepted allha
Hurrah for Denmark! I saw this story this morning (Australian time). The version here is longer.

For those who won't necessarily click on the link, here's the 'money quote':
"The Iranian Parliament wanted our delegation to present an official apology to Iran. We said 'absolutely not'...We cannot do that, it would be a violation of freedom of expression," the committee's deputy chairman Jeppe Kofod said.
It made me feel proud that I have Danes among my immigrant ancestors.
God bless Denmark.
That's the ol' Viking spirit!
Sometimes all it takes is for one person, one group, or one country to step up and do the right thing. Bravo Denmark! May the rest of Europe and the free world soon follow your lead.
I'd have told them to F... Off
Denmark RULES!
They are making themselves more and more worthy of having that cross on their flag.
God bless Denmark. God bless USA. God bless Israel!
It's just so pitiable that most of the Dane's food products are so fattening. I'd love to be buying their butter, butter cookies, cheeses, and Carlsberg beer.
One can buy just so many Leggo sets, you know?
But hooray, hooray, for their stance on the cartoons. Bless them.
Iran -no more Danish cookies for you!
'Bout damn time!!!!!!
Go Denmark!
They are certainly showing more spine than most of Western Europe. Heck, on this issue, they are showing more courage than the U.S.
Ever since the cartoons were published in 2005 I've been doing what I can to support Denmark--buying Danish butter cookies, Lurpak butter (expensive, but perhaps the finest butter in the world), Fontina cheese, Havarti, Daneblu (a type of blue cheese) and even Danish Feta cheese. I used this last a couple of day's ago when I was making Greek food.
Denmark also exports beer, ham, and Lego toys. It's small, but it all adds up.

you could always write a brief, courteous letter to her Majesty Queen Margrethe of Denmark, congratulating her upon the courage and clear-headedness of certain of her subjects, to wit, Mr Westergaard the cartoonist, who has chosen to be angry rather than afraid, and the group of lawmakers who have refused to grovel to Iran.
A similar letter to the Danish prime minister might also be in order.
Make sure to mention that you are, in order to honour the stand certain Danes are taking, modifying your purchasing choices accordingly.
