If this "makes" you riot, you have a bigger problem than being offended.
Anti-dhimmitude. By Jan M. Olsen for the Associated Press:
COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Denmark's leading newspapers reprinted a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad today that triggered rioting in Muslim countries two years ago.
The newspapers said they republished the cartoon to show their firm commitment to freedom of speech after the arrest Tuesday of three people accused of plotting to kill the man who drew the cartoon depicting the prophet wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse.
The drawing by Kurt Westergaard and 11 other cartoons depicting Muhammad enraged Muslims when they appeared in a range of Western newspapers in early 2006.
Islamic law generally opposes any depiction of the prophet, even a favorable one, for fear it could lead to idolatry.
The Jyllands-Posten newspaper, which first published the drawings on Sept. 30, 2005, reprinted Westergaard's cartoon in its paper edition Wednesday. Several other major dailies, including Politiken and Berlingske Tidende, also reprinted the drawing.
"We are doing this to document what is at stake in this case, and to unambiguously back and support the freedom of speech that we as a newspaper will always defend," said the Copenhagen-based Berlingske Tidende.
Tabloid Ekstra Bladet reprinted all 12 drawings.
At least three European newspapers – in Sweden, the Netherlands and Spain – also reprinted the cartoon as part of their coverage of the Danish arrests.
Intelligence police arrested two Tunisians and a Danish citizen of Moroccan origin in western Denmark on Tuesday for allegedly plotting to kill Westergaard.
The Danish suspect was released Tuesday after questioning, his lawyer Henning Lyngsbo said.
"He has no knowledge about the case," Lyngsbo told The Associated Press. "It doesn't seem that the evidence is very strong.''
Intelligence service chief Jakob Scharf had indicated the man would be released, but could still face charges of violating a Danish terror law. The two Tunisians would be expelled from Denmark because they were considered threats to national security, Scharf said.
Danish Muslim leaders condemned the alleged murder plot, but also said reprinting Westergaard's cartoon was the wrong way to protest.
"There could have been other ways to do it without the drawing, which I personally do not like," Abdul Wahid Petersen, a moderate imam, told The Associated Press.
Imam Mostafa Chendid, the leader of the Islamic Faith Community, said his group was considering staging a rally in front of Parliament. The Copenhagen-based group spearheaded protests against the cartoons in 2006.
"We are so unhappy about the cartoon being reprinted," Chendid told the AP. "No blood was ever shed in Denmark because of this, and no blood will be shed. We are trying to calm down people, but let's see what happens. Let's open a dialogue.''
This is what we call a "pickle".
The Danish newspaper is doing a great service to the protection of free speech, but the reaction of the Islamic community has reminded the free world that they do not forget.
The message is double-edged.
The newspaper is a beacon for all those waiting for a guiding light, but also a warning to all those not willing to take up the banner. It will encourage some and discourage others.
We just have to see what the majority opinion is.

Thank you Jyllands-Posten. Dont fall into muslim intimidation. They want to scare you and enslave you. Keep up good work.
Print the Cartoons! Print, Print, Print!
Danish papers, in an intelligent and necessary show of solidarity and refusal to be intimidated, reprinted the cartoons. But where was The Times (of New York, London, Los Angeles)? Where were the Washington Post, The Telegraph, Le Monde, Figaro, and a thousand other places. They should all have, on an agreed date, or perhaps in staggered fashion, have re-printed the cartoons. And kept it up, and kept it up.
Perhaps an international Committee For the Defense of Free Speech needs to be formed. Its purpose would be to explain the extent of free speech, and those limits on it that are proper, and those that are not. And among those limits that are not proper are those that Muslims demand.
Muslims can refrain from creating, publishing or viewing any pictures they want but they do not have the right to tell anyone else what to do.

Funny. Imam Mostafa Chendid has the nerve to say:
And, as Hugh opines, "where was The Times (of New York, London, Los Angeles)? Where were the Washington Post, The Telegraph, Le Monde, Figaro, and a thousand other places."
Easy - showing their true color (yellow) as the spineless, cowardly Muslim apologist/appeasers that they really are.
Although I can only speculate here, but I would certainly suspect that the WaPo would lose a major source of funding if they dared upset their Saudi masters.
To all citizens of Kongeriget Danmark, Bravo!
"We are so unhappy about the cartoon being reprinted," Chendid told the AP. "No blood was ever shed in Denmark because of this, and no blood will be shed. We are trying to calm down people, but let's see what happens. Let's open a dialogue.''
If they are so unhappy in Denmark, they can emmigrate to the 50 muslim countries.
No blood has been shed - oh wow, is this something we have to be really thankful for the great favour they have done?
And if he wants a dialogue - let him write or send an email from wherever in dar al islam.
Let's not forget the National Post in Canada:
They printed the carton today too!!!
Huzzah for the editorial board!
Perhaps these cartoons could be the shot heard around the world and little Denmark the first to show some backbone in defense of our Western liberties. Displaying the cartoons is like waving the flag of the free world against the barbarism and mindless acceptance of Islam. "We Are All Danes Now!" is an appropriate beginning to the dialogue that the Islamists seem to want.
These cartoonists have more spunk in resisting Islamic hostility than US Tax-fed dubya and condi... lol
Victor Borge would be proud.

I remember the same cartoon on JW when JW was the only one posting it. I remember Robert's one-liner "Come, get me!". What a slap across that snake Hooper's face.

We don't need dialogue. The gates of itjihad are shut.
The gates of EUrabia need to be shut, America's gates need to be shut and Australia needs to pull up the draw-bridges.
No more Muhammedan infiltration, no more subversion, sedition, da'awa, no more mosques, no more madrassah's, no more clerics:
repatriation on a grand scale is needed, now!
Hurray for Denmark!!!!!!! They stood up to the Nazis, too, and saved almost all of their Jews. Good for them. I hope they can keep it up!!
Hurray for Ezra Levant as well, as he has just scored a little victory himself.
Gives one reason for hope around here!!
Hurrah for the Danish press! Now we need every major newspaper in the free world to join them. Make it a global Day of Defiance in the cause of freedom and against Islamist fascism.
From the BBC news website:
"The newspaper, based in Aarhus, said Mr Westergaard, 73, and his 66-year-old wife, Gitte, had been under police protection for the past three months."
"In a statement on Jyllands-Posten's website, Mr Westergaard said: "Of course I fear for my life when the police intelligence service say that some people have concrete plans to kill me."
"But I have turned fear into anger and resentment."
Too right you have, Mr Westergaard. And for millions of people across the world. More power to your pencil!
LOL .... there are no NEW cartoons are there! So who have won? Smug numbshulls!
Good point about the Times of UK, will email them to find out what they are so scared of. Perhaps our Dhimmi government has told them not to publish it as it may offend the practioners of "the religion of peace"
HO HUM
LOL .... there are no NEW cartoons are there! So who have won? Smug numbshulls!
While I don't want to be overconfident in the West's ability to rid itself of Islam, I don't think your point is valid. Muslims are angry that the Pope quoted someone from the 14th century, I believe it was. Given their stagnant mindset vis-a-vis their religion, we don't need "new" cartoons. Just reprinting the old ones will do a find job of riling them up. Yes, I want to see them riled up because the Western masses only respond to sensational incidents, so we need to provoke sensational incidents from Muslims if we want to finally get rid of the ignorant policies that let them in in the first place.

That is true about the "sensational incidents." The many non-"sensational" ones get a free pass. It's sad, but whenever I hear of a major Islamic Terrorist plot being thwarted (and you hear of those a lot - Fort Dix, Kennedy airport, the airport in Scotland, recent plot in Germany, to name a few)I think that if only it had happened the West might wake itself up from it's suicidal slumber.
Please be aware that imam Abdul Wahid Pedersen is no "moderate." This term here just means 'frequently allowed to spread taqiyya on TV with no critical questions being asked' - you know the kind. He is on record as explicitly defending stoning as punishment, saying that nobody can detract from what Allah has decreed. This has earned him the moniker 'Stoning-Pedersen' among Danes. Oh, and he met Allah while serving a prison sentence for drug trafficking - but that is probably the least of his sins.
President Bush, speaking with King Abdullah of Jordan about the original printing of the cartoons, Feb. 8 2006:
"We also talked about a topic that requires a lot of discussion and a lot of sensitive thought, and that is the reaction to the cartoons. I first want to make it very clear to people around the world that ours is a nation that believes in tolerance and understanding. In America we welcome people of all faiths. One of the great attributes of our country is that you're free to worship however you choose in the United States of America.
Secondly, we believe in a free press. We also recognize that with freedom comes responsibilities. With freedom comes the responsibility to be thoughtful about others..."

Are the Danes being irresponsible in the Presidents eyes, of not being thoughtful of others. It would seem so.
... We also talked about a topic that requires a lot of discussion...
Because of all the double-talk, dissembling, and hemming and hawing, we're gonna have to take some time here.
... and a lot of sensitive thought, and that is the reaction to the cartoons.
Sensitive thought = self-censorship, even inside joe haid.
If anything, ever, in the entirety of world history, requires critical thought and full-bore insensitivity, it is Islam.
well hopefully. this is not to provocative the last round of rioting over simple cartoons in my opinion shows just how far Muslims have to go from the time of the hoards of Mohammed
Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves. ~Abraham Lincoln
I say print the article!! It only takes one brave soul to help the other's stand.
Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death!!! ~Patrick Henry
matamoros, you wrote, of Mr Westergaard the cartoonist, 'more power to his pencil!'
However: I hope that Mr Westergaard (and his wife) have now also invested in, for example, a couple of double-barrelled shotguns, and are focusing their anger in regular target practice sessions.

Danish Muslim leaders condemned the alleged murder plot, but also said reprinting Westergaard's cartoon was the wrong way to protest.
Ok, what is the right way to protest? "Slaughtering" the plotters perhaps?
I somewhat disagree with the comment that we do not need more cartoons, it is enough to reprint the dozen we already have. My point is that we should always try to do better.
What we really need is an entire comic book, maybe even a series of comic books, showing Muhammed in all his squalor and villainy. Something that even kids will enjoy reading, and something that tells the truth usually lots of pictures so that it is kept interesting. Comics with a strong historical basis.
If kids can sneak and read each others Muhammed comic books while their PC parents are not looking, they will also be less likely to be taken in by the sanitized version of Islam which they will be fed in our PC schools and universities.
Someone with a strong knowledge of the history of Muhammed and of Islam, please consider hiring a really good cartoonist and collaborating with him to produce a comic book or comic books featuring lots of drawings of Muhammed. Then a sequel on the dhimmis who stood by and let the Muslims take over and lost their freedoms. Finally, more sequels on the heroes in history who stood up against the Muslim onslaught and fought and kept their freedoms.
Lets get our people invested in the preservation of their culture and freedoms before it is too late!
Happy Valentines day Muhammed in whatever level of hell you are!
What if all the newspapers in the West were to print these cartoons simultaneously? What if we were to hang them in all our windows?
Let them show their true colors so that we can have an open and honest discussion AMONGST OURSELVES - no 'dialog' with moslems needed - about how to proceed from there.
