Unless there are huge numbers of signatories, and unless those signatories are primarily (~90%) the alleged "Moderate" or "Mainstream" Muslims; I would consider the petition a failure. If such is not the case, I would also consider it a very disturbing indicator of the views of the alleged "Moderate" or "Mainstream" Muslims.

Only the elites seem to believe we are in some happy-bunny-multicultural-globalization era. However, just prior to the 20th century, beginning with the Irish famine, then the Armenians, then the Jews, the mass murder of people based on their ethnicity has been picking up steam. We are going into a tribal era. Just look at the breakup of Yugoslavia, the USSR, the tribalism in Africa, China in Tibet, etc. It does not look good for the 21st century. I think this century may be worse than the last in terms of genocide.

Nations and tribes write in large script the real amoral nature of humans. We invent all these rationalizations to exploit others (Islam is tops, not too much different than Nazi ideology in that regard). There has to be a fundamental change in the nature of humans if the species is to survive. I would not bet on it.

Route this to the Obama and Clinton campaign headquarters with a request that they sign.

Actually, the largest and most devastating genocide on record is the thirteen-century-long Holocaust of the dhimmis (Jews, Christians, and other non-Muslims) which occurred throughout the Middle East, India, parts of Europe, and North Africa, i.e., the lands forcibly occupied by Muslims. The dhimmis were treated like cattle for thirteen centuries, or they were killed off. Entire communities were killed by the invading Muslims.

Probably the second largest would have been Stalin killing 25 million (?) of his own people.

I'm certainly not trying to belittle the Holocaust, because it was an incredibly horrific crime against humanity. But what the Muslims did (and are still doing) to the dhimmis for thirteen centuries makes Hitler look like a choir boy.

I disagree with the sentiment that the Hadith should be censored. I think the responsible thing for Campus governments to do is to publicise the Hadith in campus news papers, that calls for Holy War against Christians and Jews. I think any repudiation by Muslim groups wold need to be publicised as well, with the media present to observe the act as it occurs.

The Holocaust was a terrible time in our history. Historically, the Islamists were in full support of NAZI plans to exterminate the Jews. They would have supported such schemes regardless of the nation that carried the horror out. One nation that gets a pass though, for exterminating and persecuting Jews, is the former Soviet Union, and present day Ukraine. These nations systematically dealt with Jews in a similar manner as the Nazi's, and yet nothing is mentioned about it.

Moreover, there is a modern Holocaust ocurring in the world today that is unseen, and that receives little attention. That Holocaust has claimed over 45 million lives in the United States alone since the early 1970's. The holocaust to which I refer is abortion. 45 million people have been exterminated before they had the right to breath the air which we enjoy everyday (even as polluted as some claim). If the unborn were instead 45 million born people who were exterminated, the international community would have cause for action. And yet these unborn children have no voice, no face, and no nation to advocate on their part. This Holocaust of Holocausts makes the deaths of 6 milion pale in comparison, but no less serious.

On topic, I hope this petition does better than the Islamo-fascism petition, which last I saw only a few thousand had signed. I think it is important NOT to publicize the signatories online, so as not to dissuade folks who don't want to go on record. I think there should also be a detailed privacy policy appended in a conspicuous place online.

There are lots of folks who are extremely apprehensive about leaving their e-mail addresses on ANY website, especially attached to controversial statements.

We call on all Student Governments and campus Muslim groups to:

1. Condemn and repudiate the Hadith which reads: "The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time [of judgment] will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews and kill them; until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! I signed the petition. That done, if you and Horowitz are calling on Muslim groups to repudiate the hadiths, why not go all the way and ask them to repudiate the violent verses in the Quran? I mean - if they can be expected to distance themselves from hadiths that most of them recognize as authentic, what's to stop them from doing the same with a Quran?

This was not a "genocide" but an ongoing war between Bosnia and Serbia.

Both sides lost tens of thousands in the conflict.

Both committed atrocities.

Hardly fit for inclusion in this list.

The Killing Fields and The Armenian Genocide being compared with wartime casualties in a civil war is jarring.

The International Court of Justice, a year ago, ruled that Serbia did not commit genocide against the Bosnian Muslims.

profitsbeard, thanks for the reminder that according to the ICJ, Serbia did not commit genocide, however it defined culpability, and there's the rub.

According to this site "The ICJ, which instead deals with controversies between states, was faced with Bosnia's claim that Serbia was responsible for the Srebrenica massacre. Although the Court ruled that genocide had taken place, it decided that Serbia was not responsible under international law.

According to the Court, the Bosnian Serb generals who were guilty of this genocide, the various Mladic's and Kristic's, were neither acting as Serbia's agents nor receiving specific instructions from Belgrade.

I signed it. And I hope that the hopeful change on the horizon as Barack Obama and his wife, the long suffering couple of student lonas for an Ivy League education, will restore this country on the world stage for they are the agents of change and when he meets with Muslim leaders he will hopefully change their heats and minds (not win them because that is what the military does and we hate the military) and we can go skipping down the yellow brick road.

The ICJ's ruling was strained, and curious.

How does "8,000" victims become a "genocide"?

It trivializes the word and takes this kind of brutal and deplorable,
but limited war-crime and inflates it beyond rationality.

It was a massacre.

A slaughter.

Not a "genocide".

Which means:

an attempt to kill off every person of that "race" "ethnicity"/ "tribe"/ "clan".

This was a messy war between age-old foes.

Europe should have stopped it in 1992, but (as they prove again with NATO troops begging off service in Afghanistan) they were -and are- too chicksh*t to act, even in their own long-term self-interest.

We have to restrain words to their actual meanings.

Millions of Bosnian Muslims were not killed. Some thousands were, and many of these were victims of calculated cruelty.

You may be right that this "genocidal" reference was included per the dictates of post-modern deconstructive redefinitional gobbledygook (call it ICJ-esque) to mollify (apostate?)campus Muslims, an enticement to get them to take that necessary "leap of doubt" and sign the petition.

Surely Mr. Spencer is taking note.

How come you don't go a little further with this declaration and condemn more Islamic verses that also includes disparaging statements about Christians?

You can also condemn verses that incites violence by Muslims.

The victims in this declaration are Jewish people and Israel. It is worth acknowledging the Jews but it would be even better to also include Islamic statements that includes Christians. There are many Islamic sources that equally disparages Christians.

You can add more verses such as these:

"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:27-)

V.51: O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who takes them for friends is one of them.

Beckett, I'm in agreement with you about the enormity of the contemporary Holocaust of abortion. But I can also agree with others who say that's not the same as genocide. And it's a world-wide crime, although the U.S. is a leading proponent of it. But it's still mass-murder. And it's an evil policy brought to us by the same lunatic left that supports open borders and unlimited, unregulated immigration; the same lunatic left that sees nothing in the West worth defending and that would hand Europe and America over to the ignorance and fanaticism of Islam.

A diary that I have, tells me that Yom ha-Shoah, in Australia at least, falls on Friday May 2nd this year.

Perhaps those of us who are truly, seriously worried about the genocidal anti-semitic rhetoric pouring out of the muslim world, most notably from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (but he is far from being the only offender) should start organising, now, a major demonstration to publicly mark that day, not only to remember and mourn, but to warn.

In Un Chretien Pour Israel ('One Christian *for* Israel), published in the mid-1980s, Jacques Ellul included a chapter entitled 'anti-zionism and anti-semitism', in which he warned:

"nous sommes dans une situation que Dufour appelle de “pre-pogrom”; en voici, schematises, les donnees: surgissement simultane de l’antisemitisme religieux et de l’antisemitisme politique.

"Absence de reaction et de defense projuive de la part des autorites politiques, intellectuelles, religieuses.

THE POGROM IS PREPARED. So feared Jacques Ellul, in the 1980s, long before Phyllis Chesler wrote 'The New Antisemitism'.

Ellul saw already, in the 1980s, that a vast oil-funded anti-Israel and anti-Jewish propaganda was coming from the Arab/ised Muslim world, separate from, but meeting and melding with, traditional western antisemitism and Soviet anti-Jewish propaganda.

In Ce Dieu Injuste? (1991), toward the end, Ellul focuses in on Jew-hatred in the Muslim world. I am thinking of the passages by Ellul that I have written above; but there are other things, such as Oriana Fallaci's magnificent article with its repeated declaration 'I find it shameful..' and 'I stand with the Jews', or that beautiful, terrible piece by a Spanish journalist, 'Europe died at Auschwitz', or even Bennie Morris's searing essay 'the second Holocaust will not be like the first':

I think there needs to be a public gathering at which texts like these are read aloud, in all their searing intensity, their prophetic fury.

And we could draw to people's attention the actual text of the Hamas Charter, and its sources in the Hadith, Sira and Quran, the Jew-hatred that is hardwired into the sacred texts of Islam, and some of the key 'incitement statements' that PMW and MEMRI have documented.

Similar events could be organised for town squares and university campuses, across the USA, Canada, and the UK, at least.

Muslims can repudiate hadith that is "sunan." However, they are required to accept the Bukhari hadith, because it is "sahih."
