Egypt searches for Palestinian jihadist cell from Gaza, fears suicide attacks in Sinai

Not surprisingly, more of this. "Egypt searches for Palestinian terror cell," from the Associated Press:

Egyptian security forces were looking for four Palestinians on Friday who slipped into the country from the Gaza Strip and were suspected of planning suicide attacks against resorts in the Sinai Peninsula, a local security official said.
The search follows the arrests of 15 Palestinians over the past few days who were caught carrying weapons and explosives in the town of el-Arish, located some 35 kilometers (22 miles) from the border, and other remote parts of the Sinai desert.
Twelve of those arrested were members of Hamas, the militant Palestinian group that seized control of Gaza last June, said a senior intelligence officer in northern Sinai, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.
The group consisted of two cells arrested separately as they attempted to sneak out of el-Arish carrying explosives, electric circuits, machine guns and ammunition, the official added.
Egyptian officials have expressed concern that gunmen could attempt to sneak into the country ever since Hamas blew open the border wall with Gaza on January 23....

I guess your definition of jihad depends on whose ox is being gored. How come "suicide attacks against resorts in the Sinai Peninsula" must be fought against and not lauded as attacks on infidels or apostates?

What IS the motive for these attacks anyway? Convenience?

"Egyptian officials have expressed concern that gunmen could attempt to sneak into the country ever since Hamas blew open the border wall with Gaza on January 23...."

When Israeli officials expressed similar concerns, and built a wall to control entry into their country from the Palestinian areas, they ran into a fire-storm of outrage from the MSM. I'm waiting for the MSM to show the same reaction now, in reaction to Egypt. I'll probably have a long wait.

I know it is a calculated risk, but the world needs to realise that the Palestinians, for their terrorist tactics and their political intransigence, are despised by more than just the Israelis.

If they become a headache for the Egyptian tourist industry and economy, let the Egyptians be forced to deal with it.

Egyptians were pretty horrified by the attacks on tourist resorts in Egypt by Egyptian Islamist militants, as they injured Egyptians and their economy, as well as foreign tourists.

It is time to end the ridiculous charade that the entire Arab world supports the Palestinian cause when the Palestinians are an acute embarassment for Jordan, and for Lebanon, where they are not given the right to work, or citizenship. Only Israel allows Arabs this!

Changing regional perceptions of the Palestinians is a vital element in the peace process. Without it, there will be little incentive for movement.

I am convinced that there is no "peace movement" in the mid-east. From my own vantage point I see Islam as wanting to change the borders of countries. This will finally get the attention of many nations.

In the past, the Chineese have delt with this rather well.

One more time:

Spy vs. Spy.

A Mad-Magazine world, my masters!

'I am convinced that there is no "peace movement" in the mid-east. '

Possibly. But there is nationalism. Egyptians have a sense of their own historic distinctiveness and there is widespread suspicion of Iran - which is certainly nationalist. Turkish nationalism is also on the rise.

My own analysis is that there are a variety of 'stories' going on including transnational myths of the umma. The unfree press and politics masks any working out of this; so people can hold a variety of conflicting positions at once without being able to put them to any kind of test in action.

IMHO people who believe in the transnational umma are fantasists escaping from uncomfortable realities, including lack of democracy at home.

Post-modernists are apt to write off the nation state, but I sense matters are somewhat more complex.

It suits Islamists to identify with the Palestinians as Muslim victims but until any regime other than Israel is forced to deal with these deceitful and idiotic blighters, nobody is going to grow up.

No one makes a big deal over the Egyptians building a fence to control this, but if Israel does that there is an outcry. Both build fences for the same reason. In any case, Jihad is rooted in the Qu'ran and Muslim theology-so we should not be surprised if all do not realize that Israel and Egypt face the same true believers in this matter since they refuse to face reality re the theological foundation of the conflicts in this region. We must all pretend that Islam is not what it is.

There will be no peace until we all face reality re the Qu'ranic and Islamic dogma foundation of Muslim violence and Muslim attempts to dominate via physical or psychological violence. This site has consistently pointed to that recognition as the road to real conflict resolution in all matters relating to Islam. Islam is not a religion of peace for unbelievers who must be forced to convert or be reduced to a Dhimmi status. That's reality.

Why would this influx of weapons and warriors be a surprise? Hamas did not knock the wall down simply so 'Palestinians' could go and buy milk and cigarettes. There are larger and more profitable reasons. It should be a given that every opportunity
will be used for enrichment or armament, or both.
Unless Egypt puts a stop to it, more illicit goods and people will flow in, with the ultimate goal of attacking Israel. As pointed out above, Egypt can't afford this bad publicity and may have to act aggressively to stop it. That may mean a confrontation with Hamas. Probably not desired by Egypt but may be forced on them anyway. I bet Egypt is not happy that Hamas put it between a rock and a hard place...

I know it is a calculated risk, but the world needs to realise that the Palestinians, for their terrorist tactics and their political intransigence, are despised by more than just the Israelis.

But until those countries say so upfront and stop using the Palestinians against Israel they deserve whatever happens to them. They are the ones who nurtured modern terrorism in the Middle East. They are the ones who financed the PLO and its various factions and offshoots. They are the ones who deserve to be devoured by the monster they created.
Egypt gave us Yasser Arafat.
Egypt gave us Ayman al Zawahiri.
Egypt gave us the Muslim Brotherhood.
Egypt gave us Mohammad Atta.
The list goes on.

Egypt signed a peace accord with Israel but still continued to sanction attacks against it. They made their bed. Let them lie in it.

What IS the motive for these attacks anyway? Convenience?

Islam.

pr126,
But they're attacking Muslims! Are all Egyptians in the Sinai apostates?

/sarc off

Hugh...Maybe I missed it, but Mad never adequately explained 'left handed veebleflitzers', nor 'creeping meatballism'. I thought the left handed veebleflitzer was for people who flitz their veebles with their left hand. A marvelous invention really, if you are left handed. And creeping meatballism?
Maybe you can expound on that as a way to weaken the camp of Islam. Maybe Mad had the answers all along, and we passed over them because it was...Mad.

Wherever they go, from Jordan to Lebanon to Gaza to Egypt, the palestinians are a deadly curse upon the land, and always have been. Maybe Mubarek can stop them for good.

If these people didn't have Islam for an excuse for terror, they'd find another......

The Sinai is a popular resort for the Israelis

The 2005 Sharm el-Sheikh attacks were a series of terror attacks on July 23, 2005,

then there was the Taba Bombings in 2004

The explosions occurred on the night of October 7, against the Hilton Taba and campsites used by Israelis in Ras al-Shitan. In the Taba attack, a truck drove into the lobby of the Taba Hilton and exploded, killing 31 people and wounding some 159 others. Ten floors of the hotel collapsed following the blast.[1]

Some 50 kilometers (31 miles) south, at campsites at Ras al-Shitan, near Nuweiba, two more bombings happened. A car parked in front of a restaurant at the Moon Island resort exploded, killing two Israelis and a Bedouin. Twelve were wounded. Another blast happened moments later, targeting the Baddiyah camp, but did not harm anyone because the bomber had apparently been scared off from entering the campground by a guard.[2]

Of the dead, 15 were Egyptians, 12 were from Israel, two from Italy, one from Russia, and one was an Israeli-American.

I am 55 years old and have lived my entire adult life in the shadow of 'Palestinian' terror. The hijackings, the terror attack on Ma'alot, ice cream parlors, Passover seders, Munich, etc. etc. Check the record and see how long and how much terror. How unspeakably evil. I lost a friend at Lockerbie and two nodding acquaintances (firemen) on my city block in 9/11.

For me the symbol of Palestine will always be the photograph of an old Jewish woman her stockinged leg in her 'sensible' old woman's shoe. The leg still standing upright in place by the bus seat. The rest of her gone. Vanished.

They gave the world a new kind of evil a kind of indiscriminate international terror that we have had to live with ever since. If there is a God and there is, their destruction will be terrible, biblical and awesome. Them or us.

The egyptian dog is starting to feel the flees it said don't exist, don't go to their country until they rid themselves of this plague!!!

Their evil will triumph as long as good people do nothing to stop it. Too many of us would rather live and let live than face the threat they pose to civilization. Ignorance is bliss.

"Egypt searches for Palestinian jihadist cell from Gaza"

The lunatics are out of the asylum. Matter of fact, they are running it.

Interesting that their Egyptian brothers don't even want anything to do with them.

What, brothers searching for brothers with the intent to harm them!

That's against the Qur'an! Egyptians must be apostates!

Four just happened to "slip" into Egypt when several days ago 350,000 just walked in???

Me thinks someone is "low Balling" the numbers.

Sow in the storm, reap in the hurricane.

What you give it what you get in this world.
God is a cosmic joker... what a sense of humor.

BREAKING NEWS:

MULTIPLE VICTIMS REPORTED IN ILLINOIS MALL SHOOTING???

Ya gotta figure life on the front lines against jihad have been tough,

But it has ameliorated this past year and a half as the world has somehow come to realize the idiocy of islam and those scum and fakers killing and causing harm under its banner.

But now we have McCain who wants to close down Gitmo, who is against waterboarding, who is for amnesty and illegal immigration and open borders, and who also is an environmental (and mental) whacko, who is championed by islamist Norquist,

And we're supposed to support him because our IQ is above our shoe size ?

The cause for freedom is more seriously in peril now more than ever.

Go ahead McCain, wrap yourself in the flag one more time and try convince us you are a Reagonite. What crap. Tell us islam is the religion of peace.

It's mind boggling to me that the Islamic world can be so dysfunctional in so many ways, economically, socially, spiritually, and sill belierve that they live in the best of all possible universes, and the solution to all the worlds ills is to bring everyone else kicking and screaming into that universe with them.

Any uneducated poor person in the U.S. who lived in a slum neighborhood, where murder, robbery and fear, stalked the streets, would call their neighborhood by its right name, "a crime-ridden slum, and strive to escape it.

There must be some psychiatric term to describe a people's inability to distinguish between ugliness and beauty, good and evil.

79 people were shreaded in Baghdad yesterday by a suicide bomber, and it's my guess, every Muslim in that city would argue that there's not a thing wrong with their Islamic society.

Of course, everything is so peaceful & tranquil in Egypt, that Allah forbid that Hamas cells come in. After all, they wouldn't want them infiltrating and making the peaceful Ikhwan more extreme, would they?

Let Gaza be Egypt's problem. Now Israel can completely seal the borders, stop all electricity, water, commerce, food, medicine, etc. And, if rockets are fired from Gaza into Israel it will be an act of war between Egypt and Israel.

OT

In my view this is quite shocking news.

Death threats to the 'no-go' bishop

Threatening phone calls were made to the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali after he wrote that non-Muslims faced physical attack if they entered some Muslim-dominated enclaves.

He has taken police advice on his security after he and his family received death threats but is said to be "continuing as normal

As far as I know, there has not been a word about this on the BBC, or other news channels. This should have been headline news, but all is quiet.

Gaza has been called a prison, but it's really an insane asylum where the inmates are in charge. Thanks to the vote, we have a government there obsessed with Jihad.
After the Israelis removed the settlements, all of the synagogues were immediately destroyed and the former settlemets were converted into terrorist training camps; the rocket attacks against Israel quadrupled, helping bring on international sanctions and border closures with Israel, to the detriment of the local economy. Hamas's rivals have been murdered. In Gaza, it's Islam first and people last.
What's happening now is but a taste of things to come. Gaza could help destabilize Egypt, bringing about an Islamist regime. At a minimum, the Jihad against Israel will escalate and that could escalate to involve Egypt.
Now, what was it I read about all the great things ensuing after disengagement?

Bishop Nazir Ali is under police protection

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article3292032.ece

From the article

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has made Islam a priority of his archiepiscopate and set up a Muslim-Christian forum to promote relations between the faiths in 2006. One senior cleric told The Times yesterday: “The Bishop of Rochester is in effect threatening to undo everything we have done.”

How can a bishop undo what was never possible anyway.

And in parallel news

'No one leaves Islam,' judge rules
Egyptian court bans convert to Christianity from changing ID card

According to the Judge, "Since Islam is the "final" and "most complete" religion, Muslims already have full freedom of religion and are not allowed to return to the "less complete" Christianity or Judaism, the ruling said."

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59985

This was not a "nutty" decision by some Islamic cleric in the middle of nowhere, but in a proper court in Egypt.

If this is the view of a court in a proper Islamic court, how on earth can any meaningful "dialogue" between Christianity and Islam take place? That is a question I would like to pose to the person who occupies Lambeth palace.

Is there any question that the palestinians are the wretched refuse of humanity? Everywhere they go, murder and mayhem follow-Jordan, Lebanon and now Egypt (we are all too aware of their shenanigans in Israel). No place is safe from this bunch, who follow a philosophy of Three Alls-Subvert All, Kill All, Destroy All.

My only hope is that the Palestianians in their zeal would ruin Egyptian tourism.

One senior cleric told The Times yesterday: “The Bishop of Rochester is in effect threatening to undo everything we have done.”

Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams is a perfect example of everything that's wrong with the Christian West. He doesn't even understand his own Christian faith. He's like the blind man leading a blind man. They both fall in a ditch.

Jesus did not command his deciples to set up a Muslim-Christian forum to promote relations between the faiths. He commanded them to go forth and teach all nations the good news of their salvation. What Christian leaders like Williams is doing with their forums is to say that Christianity and Islam are equal bearers of God's truth, both parrallel roads to the Kingdom of God. This is very bad Christian theology, and destructive to those who he should be helping.

This is not to suggest that Williams' should in anyway persecute or harm Muslims, or members of other faiths, because of what they believe. That would not be Christian either. But he should be telling them that they are wrong, that their faith is destructive to themselves and others, that Islam is not an Abrahamic faith, and that Mohammad was no Prophet and had no common cause with Judaism or Christian.

If the Atchbishop believes otherwise than all the titles and miters in the world won't make him a Christian.

Archbishop Williams, and too many other Christian leaders, are leading all of us, including Muslims, into a ditch.

The only effective way to combat the scourge of Islam is the unvarnished truth. Otherwise how can they ever know the truth?

Palestinians are deemed lowlife, to put it politely, by all Arab States. Yes they may very well feign being in their allies of this bottomfeeder life-form but solely because of the shared common-enemy; Israel.
Egypt has been playing tic-tac-toe with the lowly Palestinians unendingly, with the inane hope this would keep the jackal-like psychos at bay: needless to say, it has backfired and will continue to do so.
Meanwhile, Israel, like Egypt, has the right as a sovereign state to protect and secure her borders, is forever censured, not solely, by the obvious, their enemies but by their ostensible allies: best said, untrustworthy friends.
The latter, the anal retentive West, be it the US or the pathetically, fudged together EU, yanks on the State of Israel’s chain/shackle demanding her to heel, as if she is the terrorist state.
The West, historically, prefers to sit on its haunches until it is all but too late. When was the last time, the Western Allies, chose to go to war, with resolve and intent to win at all cost? Although, rhetorical, I find this fact disturbing: disconcerting because our lame-duck leadership throughout the west possesses no steadfastness or chutzpah to win this war on terror outright. Perhaps in fear they will offend our Islamic partners (facetious) or Islam’s leftist collaborationists within the inner-sanctums of our governments and the mass-media.
Furthermore, Israel, the one nation from which we would unquestionably learn a thing or twenty regarding Islamo-Fascism, is shackled by us, its purported western partners.
Our military and those of the teeter-totter coalition have been put in harms way; not, only while battling the enemy but owing to the weak-willed and spineless politicos of the western-democracies.
Egypt: sorry, my foremost concern is the survival of Israel and the sad sack west.
