Evil spirits and curses: UK in-laws who turned blind eye to arranged bride's murder jailed

Here is yet another fruit of the culture that offers divine sanction for the beating of disobedient women (Qur'an 4:34) -- yet nothing is more certain than the denials of any connection with Islam that will come from Islamic spokesmen. They could acknowledge that Islam inspires cultural attitudes that lead to this sort of thing, and start working to eradicate them. But they won't.

"Jail for the in-laws who turned a blind eye to arranged bride's murder," from the Evening Standard (thanks to all who sent this in):

A family who stood by as a husband systematically battered to death his young bride through an arranged marriage have been found guilty of failing to help her in the weeks before she died.

Sabia Rani, 19, suffered horrendous injuries at the hands of new husband Shazad Khan, 25, but her plight was ignored by his other relatives who shared their home in Leeds.

Khan was convicted for the teenager's murder a year ago after she was discovered with bruising to 90 per cent of her body and up to 15 broken ribs.

Khan's mother Phullan Bibi, 52, his two sisters Uzma Khan, 23, and 28-year-old Nazia Naureen, and Naureen's husband Majid Hussain, also 28, lived with the couple in Oakwood Grange, Roundhay.

Leeds Crown Court was told during their three-week trial for allowing the death of a vulnerable adult that they had tried to blame her injuries on evil spirits and curses.

It took the jury nine hours of deliberation to come back with four unanimous guilty verdicts.

As they were read out in court, the group screamed and thumped the dock. Khan's sisters started wailing and hugging each other before screaming: "Not guilty, not guilty."

His mother stood up and started crying and had to be restrained by officers after repeatedly banging both hands down on the dock.

Ms Rani only arrived in England five months before her death. She had been brought up in rural Pakistan and did not speak English.

The jury was told she had not been allowed out of the house she shared with her husband and his family without a chaperone.

They also heard that the teenager would have been in severe pain and very ill in the weeks up to her death in May 2006.

After her death, pathologist Christopher Milroy described her injuries as being similar to those suffered by someone in a serious road accident.

Prosecutor Simon Myerson QC said the defendants tried to blame them on evil spirits and curses.

I hope they're locked up and that they suffer at the hands of other prisoners for what they did to that poor young girl.

They thihnk they're a law unto themselves... and to think a jury would fall for "evil spirits and curses" stories, that just about says it all.

A public flogging of the whole clan might cure some of the pain and anguish I felt reading this.

We need different laws to deal with such swine, they are not human!

A 1400 year old evil curse.

They're out on bail. Let's see if they show up for sentencing.

From the article:
"Judge James Stewart QC adjourned sentencing to a later date. He granted the defendants bail until another hearing today, but indicated they would probably be jailed."

Naseen,
Quick, fly to Leeds and explain to them that Islam "elevates women"! Just be sure to tell them where that elevator is heading (down), as Robert said a few months ago.

Indeed! It took the jury about 9 hours, is all. Just 9 hours.

Evil spirits and curses - C'mon, this is the twentyfirst century; not the 7th century.

Oh, wait. I forgot. They must be misunderstanders of Islam.

"they had tried to blame her injuries on evil spirits and curses."

I remember reading in a JW item some time ago about how evil spells are found everywhere according to Moslems. And that in Saudi Arabia the religious authorities employ imams or muftis (or whatever they're called) full-time to counter these spells. Apparently they need more help, since some of these evil spells are getting through. They ought to recall some of their radical Wahabi preachers from the West, and put them to work countering spells.

As for these "evil spirits" causing her injuries; just how did they do this? Did the evil spirit attack her directly, maybe by throwing things at her, like a poltergeist? Or did the spirits take possession of her husband, causing him to beat her? In any case, why didn't the family call on their imam to exorcise the spirit?

I rue the day our enlightened leaders invited the Third World into our country.

Aw...It's just a cultural thing.

I don't doubt that evil spirits were involved; I just happen to believe that they resided in the husband and his family.

evil spirit and curses. It looks to me like the only evil spirit and curses here is the cult of Islam and its pedophile prophet. Muslims never think they're guilty. When their convicted under secular law. Just look at the rapists in Australia, whose families claim they are innocent and they are being persecuted for their religion, just like a slave master Homaidan Alturkiin Colorado that got 27 years for making a slave out of his housekeeper cries of innocence from him are load and long http://www.homaidanalturki.com/EN/
it seems like the only thing that Muslims are good for is for weeping and wailing and crying when they are caught doing something wrong and being tyrants. When they are in a position of power

Evil spirits and curses are alive and well in the world of Islam. Doing a quick search through 'Ask Imam' reveals worrying tales from unseen malevolent forces. Here's just a few to whet the appetite.

Case1: "I know a young lady who became pregnant and she was still virgin and she claimed that she didn’t have sex with any one so her family went to a sheikh and he told them that the pregnancy might be from jinn. So can that be true?"

Case2: "My wife and I try for son many times, but after many year we are still childless. Two days ago my wife tell me she pregnant. I think baby must be result of a Jinn. How can I know?"

Case3: "I start beating my second wife after getting a phone call from my first wife. She is pregnant and starts crying, after sometime I get cool down. Is it due to black magic of first wife or Jin at home?"

This next case is unrelated, but I thought it kinda cute. Possibly the beginning from a comedy sketch show? You decide.

"Recently, someone knocked my car. he paid me R1300 for the damages. i went to the panelbeater who quoted me R1400. i eventually managed to twisthis arm & i am having my car repaired for R1000. what am i to do with teh R300 excess?"

There's more where this comes from. Sadly much more.

Islam has two vulnerable spots for attack, its superstitious behavior and its treatment of women.

The islamic doctrine on women has been noted and analyzed by westerners but the superstitious behavior of the muslims is still an uncharted area. A good series of essays on this subject by Abul Kaseem is at faithfreedom.org.

Evil spirits and curses? Well, this is Islam we're talking about afterall, so this isn't too far from the truth; and sorry, but since we can't round up those evil spirits and put them behind bars, then I guess you'll have to do, Shazad. I know, I know, who said life was fair.

Damn the in-laws. What about the actual killer, the husband? I hope to God he's rotting in prison for murder - where he belongs!

If you wish to continue to behave as primitives, according to the code that in Pakistan one can still get away with, then you had better live in Pakistan, not in England -- not, at least, until the demographics are a bit further along in favor of Muslims.

Don't forget that Islam is nothing more than paganism in monotheistic wrapping paper.

The evil spirit is Allah, The curse Is Islam, the High Priest is Mohammad...Islam is not infested with evil spirits, it 'is' an evil spirit.
Naseem cries because people here say bad things about her religion. I wonder if she ever gives any thought to just how many of these 'insults' are based on reality? Critical thinking maybe? Naw that's banned in Islam...

evil spirits = a bottle of bad djinn?

The Daily Mail’s shock article revealing that Muslim police officers are covering up and blocking the investigations into “honour killings” amongst Muslim families in Britain, has been pulled off that newspaper’s web site in an unusual case of self censorship.

The third vulnerability is its punishment for Apostasy. We need to push two buttons as much as we can in all fora.

1. Muslim treatment of women

2. Islamic Apostasy law

D'SOUZA'S ISLAMIC VALUE ALERT.

So this islamic family values that we should look forward according to d 'souza? I mean the way a bride behaves in the family of inlaws. A good muslim bride must be a good house slave for family and a sex slave for the husband. in addition she must also be able to cook perfectly, look good at all times, do all chores perfectly, and not complain at all. Should she fails in any of these task her value drops below a dog and she must be accordingly punished , with death being the easiest way. Her death is off course her own fault. Only in the decadent west of britany spears and madonna would the authorities dare to prosecute the family for punishing their slave/bride. In the islamic paradise of pakistan, after her unfortunite " accident", she would be quickly buried and forgotten while the authorities look the other way, afterwards the husband quickly finds another bride/victim to marry.
