Somali woman stabs two pilots on New Zealand flight, claims bombs on plane

There is a bomb squad at the scene. "Police identify woman who attacked pilots on flight," by Jarrod Booker and Edward Gay for the New Zealand Herald (thanks to Thomas Haidon):

Police have released details of a woman who attacked two pilots on a flight from Blenheim to Christchurch this morning.

The woman, who also made bomb threats, is a 33-year-old Blenheim resident.

Both pilots, who suffered knife wounds, are now in hospital and Police and Transport Minister Annette King has called for an urgent report on the incident.

The woman, who police said was originally from Somalia, made bomb threats claiming there were two bombs on board the plane. [...]

Both pilots have been taken to hospital with knife wounds and one had severe cuts to his hands. [...]

The army bomb squad is still checking the plane and passenger luggage for any signs of explosives. Police in Blenheim are doing background checks on the woman in her home town.

Mr Cliff said police have found two knives, one on the woman they are speaking to and one on the tarmac.

The other passengers on board - four New Zealanders, one Australian and an Indian - are being spoken to by police.

One witness described the scene as "like something from a Bruce Willis movie". Andrew Sare said the woman was hauled off the plane by armed police, handcuffed and forced to the ground.

Police issued a statement saying that a Mayday call was received from the plane - an Air National Flight operated by Eagle Air travelling from Blenheim to Christchurch - at around 7.40am.

The call, routed to police from the NZ Rescue Co-ordination centre in Wellington, said a female passenger had attacked the pilots before she was bundled out of the cockpit.

They were reportedly stabbed and the pilots told police they had suffered minor injuries.

According to police, the passenger also claimed she had a bomb on board. [...]

A source at Christchurch Airport said the woman has been taken away in an ambulance, possibly suffering dog-bites.

It was earlier thought the incident may have been a hijacking attempt, though no further details were yet available on this.

There are reports that an electronic device was found on board the plane.

The bomb squad is at the scene....

It's amazing how these flunkies for Islam (Somalis, e.g.) are tools for Arab-racist Islam. Does anyone really think that black African Somalis would be allowed to settle in rich Saudi Arabia in any large numbers? No way. Make no mistake of it, the Saudis would never allow them into Saudi Arabia in any large numbers. Yet, such people act like morons in Western societies that accept them. They are flunkies for their masters-the tools of people who have contempt for them.

Has anyone heard about the raving-about-God co-pilot recently removed from that Canadian plane, the one whose name and identity have never been revealed?

Another example that they (Moslems) cannot become part of the fabric of the countries hosting them. Whatever countries are foolish enough to allow Moslem immigration will regret it a thousandfold.

Can you trust your Moslem neighbors? How "moderate" are they? And what is "moderate? Not actively engaging in or plotting armed jihad? Giving money to "Islamic charity" front groups not consciously acknowledging that it will be used for jihad?

No. Moslems want a "separate and superior" position in our societies--until they are numerous enough to rule us, to take over our governments. They can accomplish this in time by using our "democratic," one-person-one-vote system to fill our legislatures with Moslems or Moslem fellow-travellers (useful idiots).

In time, this can lead to the executive being in the hands of Moslems.

What can be done? Put pressure on our government to stop Moslem immigration by having the ideology (Islam) declared as one intending to overthrow the established government. Have laws changed so that mosque-building and establishment can be curtailed. Resist every Moslem attempt to force themselves as nominally "equal" but actually striving for being "separate and superior" into our institutions--starting with schools.

Impossible? No! Difficult? You can bet on it. If nothing is done, however, our slackness will be our undoing. We will have no one--not our governments--but ourselves to blame for our and, more importantly, our childrens' slide into slavery or acceptance of Islam as the "only true faith."

So, keep up the pressure on government, make our will felt in every seat--local, state or provincial, and national.

Notice in the Reuters report concerning this incident,

http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSWEL10871820080207

There is NO mention of the woman's Somali origins.

Hugh,

The pilot union is only reporting the incident as a "nervous breakdown", and is being treated in Ireland.

As such, it will do all it can to suppress and bury the story. The truth will only be known if some really eager-beaver reporter bothers to follow-up.

Aiken,

That's because al-Reuters has been infiltrated.

Sounds like another case of "jihad sheila"

Jihad Sheila syndrome?

I saw it on the news this morning. I had suspicions.
Then I thought: No,,stop being paranoid! Surely not in New Zealand!

Speechless!

"In 1999 a suicidal co-pilot was blamed for the crash of an EgyptAir flight from New York which came down in the Atlantic with the loss of 217 lives after he was heard on the cockpit voice recorder saying: "I put my faith in God."

Why did the writer of the Telegraph article put that in? And he knows that that Egyptian co-pilot spoke Arabic. Is it code for what really happened on the Air Canada flight?

How the hell did she get on the plane with a knife in this day and age?
It's a good job the plane wasn't airborne.

I travelled to Auckland in a similar plane last month. You don't go through any security at these small regional airports like Blenheim. There is none. I've always thought the pilots were very vulnerable as there is no door to the cockpit and because they're small planes they have no stewardess. Sadly this is the wakeup call NZ needed but the laid back way of life there is now going to be history. Just guessing but this was not a hijack - it was following the Koran to "slay the infidels wherever ye find them".

The ruling elites in New Zealand have, at time, mimicked, in relation to Australia, the attitudinizing observed among some Canadians in relation to the Colossus of the South. That is, some in New Zealand are eager to distinguish their greensward of a country, world-council-of-churches New Zealand, from aggressive bush-hatted Australian bushwackers right out of a Bruce Beresford movie. And that merely mimics those Canadians who fondly believe themselves to be so very different from Americans, and who are so quick to make sure that they are not taken for them, those aggressive, presumably troglodytic Americans. I have offered a caricature -- but the caricature may be justified by the fact that it is of the very people who deal in, think in terms of, such caricatures. No place is immune, whatever its foreign policy, to the dangers that result from attitudes, and behavior that flows naturally from those attitudes, inculcated in adherents by Islam.

Hugh, that has been a long-standing (and valid) observation around these parts. NZ is to Australia, as Canada is to the US.

Frank,

I thought the same thing as well. However, that reporter for the Telegraph is making unsubstantiated claims (about what the First Officer was screaming).

The tragedy of EgyptAir 990 (on 31 Oct 1999) was concluded as a 'suicide' by the NTSB. However, the Egyptians, in all their pride of their precious cult, Islam, tried and tried again to place the blame on Boeing. It didn't work. The full story can be read here:

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200111/langewiesche

It's full of technical pilot stuff, but please read it. You will get the idea that the Government of Egypt was up to absolutely no good.
---------------------------------------------------
The aircraft involved, a Jetstream J32, is a horrible airplane. All of them, in all world-wide fleets (save in Islamic countries), should have been retired on 12 Sep 2001.

The New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority should be smacked around for not doing so. So, for all you Kiwis here, please tell them to get rid of these airplanes, or this kind of sh*t is going to happen again.

This incident turned out fairly well. Will the next?

Moslems, just a little drop of sunshine wherever they go.

Has anyone heard about the raving-about-God co-pilot recently removed from that Canadian plane, the one whose name and identity have never been revealed?

I heard on the news about an emergency landing on a plane bound to Toronto cause of a lunatic co-pilot raving about God.....nothing further I have heard.

Off topic, does anyone remember a plane taking off from I believe NY that was bound for Europe that exploded just after takeoff, everyone killed? It was around the Tennis US open, so must have been late august september and i nthe early 90's.

Anyways, was watching this show late, and some interesting reports about that explosion, where the explosion came from, emenated coincidentally from a very sensitive spot in the plane, and it was a known tactic that was attempted by Jihadists or known to Jihadists. There's alot of suspicion about that incident and I really don't know what the official finding of that air disaster was, but there is a dark cloud over it, along with the Oklahoma City bombing with the Middle eastern connection that was never followed up on by FBI

does anyone know exactly what classified documents Sandy Burglar stole and destroyed?

Always was curious about that

Compare the CNN coverage (no information about her) with the Bloomberg report (she is
of African descent" and then "she is from Somalia"):

(CNN) -- A 33-year-old New Zealand woman was in police custody Friday after she allegedly attacked two pilots of an Air New Zealand charter plane during a flight from Blenheim to Christchurch on the South Island, authorities said......

The woman, who was not named, also claimed to have bombs on board the aircraft, Cliff said, adding that it was not yet known if that was the case.

Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Christchurch International Airport on New Zealand's South Island opened after authorities halted flights when a passenger made a bomb threat on board an Air New Zealand Ltd. plane and attacked the two pilots.
All terminals are now open after police ``cleared the threat,'' the airport said in a statement on its Web site.

A Mayday call was received earlier today from Eagle Air flight NZ2270 en route from the South Island town of Blenheim to Christchurch, police said in an e-mailed statement. A 33-year- old woman of African descent is reported to have claimed bombs were on board the plane before attacking the two pilots with a knife, according to the statement.
.................................

Radio New Zealand said the woman is from Somalia and lived in Blenheim. She is yet to be charged by police, according to the broadcaster.

.................

Sneaky,

You're thinking of TWA800. It was determined to be a short in the wiring of center fuel tank pump.

No conspiracy. No Jihadis. Just bad luck.

They should deport the silly woman back to Somalia immediately.

Hugh,

Surely, you can't be surprised that the Crescent News Network would even dare to mention such salient facts?

Now, if the attacker was a crazed Mennonite, the press (CNN, BBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, Al-Reuters, et al) would be having a field day with this story.

Sadly, this story will disappear, like all others.

"attacked the pilots before she was bundled out of the cockpit."

Unrelated, but how do you bundle a person? Doesn't bundle mean 'tie together'? Did they tie her up into a little package for easy carrying or something?

She was just annoyed about the peanuts, obviously.

No honey roasting!

Despite this incident, at least we have a fairly strict immigration policy here in NZ - apart from a relatively small number of refugees, we only allow immigrants who will work and help our country.

Many countries could learn a lot from our immigration policy. In fat, the UK is just introducing a 'points system'. Media reports state that it's based on the Australian model, but that's exactly what NZ has too.

http://crusader-rabbit.blogspot.com/

"I've just been talking to someone who met the woman a while ago at Blenheim hospital--apparently she was wearing a hiijab at that time and had a very hostile attitude.

Draw you own conclusions......"

PS Even if she yelled Allahu Akhbar etc, this won't wake NZ up to jihad and islamism. People are absolutely clueless about it here, and when I wrote to various politicians who criticised local publishing of the M. cartoons, the average reply was 'well we do have freedom of speech, but one should be considerate and nice, especially because we have so much trade with muslim countries'.

What's their next step: get rid of our islam-insultingly female PM?

Chris Carter Lumps Somalis Together
Friday, 8 February 2008, 5:16 pm
Press Release: SOLO - Sense of Life Objectivists

*February 8, 2008 *

"Chris Carter has unwittingly done the work of collectivist bigots himself," notes SOLO spokesman Lance Davey.

"Reassuring the Somali 'community' that he will do his utmost to ensure that today's hijacking of a plane by a Somali woman does not reflect poorly on the Somali community, Carter did this by way of a press release titled: 'Minister reassures Somali '*community*' in which he spoke of his talks with Somali *community* leaders and their fears of people lumping everyone in the Somali *community* together.

"Yep good on ya Chris, 'Community, community, community.' There's nothing like consistently lumping a group of people together with your favourite weasel-word to avoid them being ... well, lumped together!

"More worrying though was Chris Carter's statement: "I want to assure Somali New Zealanders that the government will not tolerate any racial or religious intolerance."

"Is that right, Mr. Carter? How do you plan to enforce this zero-tolerance? Do you have a particular piece of thought-control legislation in mind when you say this?

"I wholeheartedly reserve the right to be intolerant, disrespectful, rude, boorish or offensive to any person, for any reason. As Salman Rushdie has noted, there's no such thing as the right to not be offended. The fact that I would choose, on rational grounds, NOT to be intolerant, disrespectful, rude, boorish or offensive towards someone based upon their race (though I might based upon their religion, especially that Islamofascist filth) is irrelevant. You don't have any moral standing to stop me," Davey concludes

Just wondering why my post from a few hours ago was deleted. I'd appreciate a response.

In so many words, I was just asking about how it is that we, non-Muslims, would be able to remove "Islam" from the Muslim? How do we get rid of Islam without getting rid of the people that practice it? Education? What?

I'm assuming that my initial post was deemed to be offensive, but I'm not sure.

Thanks.

Here's the version of the story that we got in Australia - complete with picture of the female in question.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/02/08/2158195.htm

The predictable result:

Brainwashed dhim-wits fall all over themselves to 'apologize'

“Minister reassures Somali community”

Members of the Somali community are concerned that today’s event will cause other New Zealanders to judge all Somalis by the actions of just one person. They don’t want to see their community stigmatised by this serious incident, Chris Carter said.

“I want to assure Somali New Zealanders that the government will not tolerate any racial or religious intolerance,” the Minister said.

"....from aggressive bush-hatted Australian bushwackers right out of a Bruce Beresford movie." ???

Bushwackers? Ah yes 'Barry Mckenzie'! Australia's cultural gift to the world.

A sad, sad, day for New Zealand - as someone who has lived and enjoyed the carefree Kiwi lifestyle - walking around in jandals year round - running into friends on the street and whiling away lazy afternoons in the park - my heart breaks at the thought of this kind of badness darkening their sunny shores.

...I mean, NEW ZEALAND. Who has a vendetta against THEM? Oh I'm forgetting, Kiwi's are all hokey pokey lovin' L&P guzzlin' infidels.

I hope this is more of a blot in the history books and not the beginning of the end - but I fear the worst:(

This story was on Foxnews yesterday.

Okay thanks bone

boneshack I just googled that flight Twa flight 800 and found alot of interesting info on it.

I have no idea how accurate this website is or the rest of them found through google, but there is definately reason to be suspicious of the official explanation.

here's another one http://www.readersread.com/features/peterlance.htm

Alot of speculation that Ramsi Yussef was involved in it.....keep in mind that the US leaders past and present do what they can to keep Islam blameless.

Sounds like NZ needs to be brought before the UN Human Rights Commission (is Syria still chairing it?), and prosecuted for crimes against humanity and genocide.

david xavier' as usual can't resist a sly taunt - 'barry mckenzie, Australia's gift to the world'.

Is that all you know about Australia, mate?

How about Florey, and penicillin? "1943: With the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories producing penicillin in commercial quantities, Australia BECAME THE FIRST COUNTRY to make it commercially available for civilians. In 1945 Australia's Howard Walter Florey shared the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine with Dr Ernst Chain for his part in developing penicillin from the mould discovered in 1928 by Sir Alexander Fleming. It was the first antibiotic." And let's not forget Dr Macbride, who spotted the link between thalidomide and birth defects. Just recently, an AUSTRALIAN doctor/ researcher has invented a special kind of 'spray on' artificial skin to help burn victims.

Or John Flynn, outback pastor, founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, bringing together 2-way radio, aeroplanes and doctors in a model that has inspired providers of medical help in remote areas ever since.

Art: Australia gave refuge to Jewish shoah survivor, Judy Cassab, a brilliant portrait painter.
Apart from the astonishing beauty of traditionally-inspired Aboriginal Australian painting - of which I have personally viewed many different examples on many occasions - we can also name with pride the Anglo-Australian landscape artist William Robinson.

Music: opera singer Joan Sutherland. Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Film-making - Peter Weir, director of the mesmerising 'Witness', 'Fearless', 'The Truman Show', 'Master and Commander', and not to forget, either, 'The Year of Living Dangerously', set in Sukarno's Indonesia right on the cusp of the murderous Suharto coup.

Dance: Sir Robert Helpmann, world-class ballet dancer and choreographer. Graeme Murphy and the Sydney Dance Company. Stephen Page (Aboriginal Australian), and his Bangarra Dance Theatre.

Australia and New Zealand share credit for the life and work of novelist Ruth Park, born in New Zealand but spent most of her life in Australia; her best known novels are 'The Harp in the South' and 'Poor Man's Orange'.

I wonder whether 'david xavier' would like to be reminded of the taking of Beersheba from the Turkish Muslims in 1917, by the charge of the Australian Light Horse under General Chauvel? And thus the small but significant contribution, by Australia, in the chain of events that led to the resurrection of the Jewish state of Israel in the land of Israel (let's also not forget the later contribution of Australia's Doc Evatt, as recently honoured by a Jewish historian in his book about Evatt in the lead-up to the partition vote of 1947, entitled "The Undercover Zionist").

Ah yes: and to take us right back on topic, it was an AUSTRALIAN who invented the 'black box' flight recorder.

DDArmy

What no indigenous Australians to go Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi, too?

'david xavier'

I'm getting tired of your little pin-pricks.

You imply, I take it, that my list of Australian 'gifts to the world' included no Indigenous Australians? (Thus slyly hinting that I might be a closet racist?).

If so, you obviously cannot read. Go back and look at what I wrote. You will see these words: "Stephen Page (Aboriginal Australian) and his Bangarra Dance Theatre".

Stephen Page, founder and director of the all-Aboriginal Bangarra Dance Theatre, is Aboriginal (Noonuccle tribe and Manandjali clan of the Yugambeh people of SE Queensland). Bangarra Dance Theatre has performed to rave reviews all around the world (he choreographed the indigenous section of the 2000 Olympic Games opening ceremony).

You also failed to notice that I mentioned Aboriginal Art - it seems I should have gone the extra mile and given names of some top people in that field: e.g. Emily Kame Kngwarreye; Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri; Rover Thomas Joolama; Paddy Japaljarri Stewart; Dennis Nona; and Lin Onus.

I could have mentioned, also, the light-soaked landscape paintings of Albert Namatjira; or the hypnotically lovely paintings of the children of Carrolup (try googling).

As for acting - in my opinion Yolngu man David Gulpilil, from Arnhem Land, is a world-class actor. He first appeared in 'Walkabout', but also in Rolf de Heer's "The Tracker" and Philip Noyce's "Rabbit Proof Fence".

Rachel Perkins is a gifted film director and Leah Purcell and Deborah Mailman are brilliant actors - Deborah excelled in the film "Radiance". I consider all three to be world-class.

These people also illustrate, incidentally, that Islam, with its rejection of representational art and its strictures on music, is absolutely incompatible not only with the culture of 'non-indigenous' Australia but also with the highly visual, dramatic and music-steeped culture of Aboriginal/ Indigenous Australia.

I should add that the Torres Strait Islanders are fervently Catholic or Anglican Christians and delight in magnificent church and gospel music. Muslim daawa should go down with *them* like a lead balloon.

( Islam is, also, wholly incompatible not only with Pakeha but also with Maori culture, in New Zealand/ Aotearoa, since Maori are famous for their magnificent carvings of people, animals and mythical beings, their music and songs, and their beautiful traditional costumes for men and women, costumes which very, very blatantly fail to conform to Muslim modesty rules. See the film, 'Whale Rider', as evidence of Maori 'uncovered meat' [male and female] and representational art.)

I will, sir, take a very dim view of any attempts on your part to 1. slander Australians as uncultured racists or 2. stir up trouble between NZ and Oz or 3. stir up trouble between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal non-Muslim inhabitants of either NZ or Australia.

If you attempt any such 'dividing the camp' tricks, I will be forced to classify you as a Boggart.

Now back to topic. Australian news has an update on the story of the Somali Muslim female hijacker-wannabe, giving her name as Asha (Somali version of Aisha?) Ali Abdille:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/02/09/2158510.htm?section=world

Me a Boggart! Ridiculous ( see I am still here)! If everything is so rosy with Black Australians , why the 'intervention' and why the coming parlimentry 'Sorry'? You say that Islam usurps the original culture and replaces it with itself...marginalising all who dont embrace it. Sounds like the settlement of Australia has some "Islamic-like " undertones.

i'm Somali first, i knew two Somali ppl were killed and both had Mental issue, one was killed by Police in Mnpls because he was holding a knife,BUT did n't injured any one. and the second one was killed in Mental Hospital In USA,(that is why MNPLS,MN has largest Victim of torture Center)i remember when his mother told the incident cried to "i wish i could stay with him in Somali rather brining him here and let these ppl beat him to death,
as she told she said THEY kill HIM,they killed him, sister called from local Collage and she cried so bad.
So my question to you ppl( christ-jews) DO N'T YOU HAVE a Mercy even the ones in mental problem. AND what Moslim and Somali has to do with with this lady ?

Some final thoughts on this news story.

The woman is a Somali, and a Muslim - named Asha Ali Abdille.

She is 'known to the police'. The report I read said: "Officials in New Zealand say a woman who allegedly stabbed two pilots while trying to hijack a domestic flight is well-known to police.
Police say the woman is known to the authorities in Blenheim, Christchurch and Wellington".
It doesn't say whether she is 'known' for common-or-garden crime or for psychiatric illness. My own guess is probably the latter.

Now: she may be a case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome. Or she may have a clinically recognisable, chemically based psychiatric illness, such as many humans suffer from, in many societies. Or both may apply.

Now, even if Ms Abdille is clearly diagnosed as, say, a schizophrenic, can one safely say that Islam, the attitudes and behaviours produced by the Islamised culture in which she was raised, had nothing to do with what she did?

I have read two insider accounts of Somali society: Waris Dirie's 'Desert Flower' and Ayaan Hirsi Ali's 'Infidel'. Ayaan notes that Somali society - which has been thoroughly infused with Islam for centuries - inculcates attitudes of aggression and suspicion, even in the traditional stories told to children. The text of the Quran plainly teaches Muslims both to fear and to suspect non-Muslims, and to act aggressively toward them.

Take a suspicious, aggressive worldview, shaped by a religion whose sacred text includes many calls to 'attack the Unbelievers'; then add depression/ manic depression/ schizophrenia/ whatever; result, a truly dangerous brew.

A final observation.

New Zealand has plenty of non-Muslim psychiatric patients, both Pakeha and Maori; has always had them; all societies do.

But NO mentally ill non-Muslim Kiwi, of Pakeha or Maori background, has ever, to my knowledge, at any time in the past sixty or more years that planes have flown up and down, in and out of New Zealand/ Aotearoa, boarded a plane armed with a knife, attacked the pilots, and attempted a hijacking.

Asha is the FIRST PERSON ever charged with a hijacking, in New Zealand's history.

And note, in a posting above, someone explains that "You don't go through any security at these small regional airports like Blenheim. There is none. I've always thought the pilots were very vulnerable as there is no door to the cockpit and because they're small planes they have no stewardess".

So...this attack, even if one views it as a random outburst by a mentally ill person, did still zero in upon what one might call an identifiable weak point.

As for you, 'david xavier' -

nice bit of turnspeak and tu quoque in your last.

Well, I don't expect the world will ever see the day when the Turkish Muslims say Sorry to the Christians of the Balkans, and to the Armenians, for what was done to them by Turkish Muslims throughout the past 400-500 years; or the day when compensation is paid, by Turkey, to all those non-Muslim communities whose children were forcibly removed in the devshirme.

Tomorrow, the Australian Prime Minister (who is a practising Christian) will say Sorry to Aboriginal Australians, for those historically demonstrable wrongs that were done to them.

The Tasmanian state government is paying sums of money in compensation to Aboriginal children who were forcibly removed (often on very flimsy pretexts) from their families.

There is a campaign afoot - conducted both by indigenous and non-indigenous Australians - to achieve restitution for indigenous workers who, during the past century, had much of their already-meagre wages essentially embezzled by corrupt bureaucrats. (Google 'Ros Kidd', for the non-indigenous researcher who investigated the archives and found there the whole can of worms).

(Is there any campaign afoot, within the ummah, to restore to dhimmi communities something of what was essentially extorted from them over many centuries? To even begin to admit the idea that what happened, WAS extortion, i.e. EVIL?).

I do not condone or conceal the utterly typical 'sins of empire' practised by English-speaking people in Australia since 1788. I condemn them - just as I condemn the sins committed by the Empire of Islam throughout the past 1300+ years. I'm sure you've read the many postings by 'frank', on this site, concerning the ideological rationalisations favoured by conquerors (ALL conquerors).

But there is this just one difference between 'christian' empires, such as the British, and the empire of Islam.

When groups such as the English or the Spanish dispossessed and abused native peoples, they did so in flagrant disobedience to the teachings of Christ. They brought the name of YHWH, and of Yeshua/ Jesus, into disrepute, when they - who claimed to be Christian - robbed, raped, enslaved, stole children, cheated, broke promises, etc . Even while the 'christian' empires were a-building, Christian voices from within those very same societies were raised in loud protest, constantly quoting the Bible and Christian principles in order to condemn the abuses carried out against the subjected peoples. William Wilberforce and Bartolomeo las Casas are two of the most famous protestors - but there were many others, such as (in Australia) Cardinal John Bede Polding, and Lancelot Threlkeld.

Muslim conquerors, on the other hand, killed, raped, robbed and dispossessed without the smallest sense of doing anything wrong at all - their conquests were carried out in strict obedience to their sacred texts and their theology, and in pious imitation of the example of the amoral warlord, Mohammed. No Muslim within the Ummah protested about, nobody criticised or questioned, the cruelties inflicted on the conquered non-Muslim peoples. The humiliations, the mass slaughters, the heaps of plunder and slaves carried off from places such as India, all, all were celebrated and gloated over, as confirmation of the truth of Islam and as redounding to the honour of 'allah' and the glory of Islam. Ibn Battuta does not evince the tiniest flicker of pity or grief for the Hindu victims of the Muslim mass-murderers. One does not find in Muslim historians - as one finds in the writings of the contemporary Christian critics of European imperialism - a 'cry for the dead', anguished fury over imperial injustices against the colonised peoples.

It is Wafa Sultan, I believe, who said something like this: "Being an Arab means never having to say sorry".

And it was Anwar Sheikh who told us: "Islam is the Arab Imperial Religion".
