Spencer: The MSA: Segregation Not Integration

Segregation.gif

In the featured article at FrontPage this morning, I discuss the MSA's stealth jihad efforts.

Muslim students at Australian universities have demanded that class schedules be changed to work around their prayer times, and that male and female students be provided with separate cafeterias and recreational areas.

This is in line with similar initiatives in the United States, where the Muslim Students Association carries, on the “Muslim Accommodations Task Force” page of its website, pdfs of pamphlets entitled “How to Achieve Islamic Holidays on Campus,” “How to Establish a Prayer Room on Campus,” and “How to Achieve Halal Food on Campus.”

The MSA directs Muslim students to present these demands in the context of multiculturalism and civil rights. “Most campuses,” explains the publication on getting recognition of Islamic holy “include respecting diversity as a part of their mission statement. They consider enrollment of diverse students an asset to the community, as they enhance the classroom learning experience and enrich student life. Try to find these statements specific to your campus, and explain that recognition of Islamic holidays would serve as a practical example of upholding these ideals.”

Such recognition would also serve to right wrongs done to Muslims on campus: “If any cases of bias against Muslims took place on campus in the recent past, present the proposal as an opportunity to foster cooperation and increase understanding.” It would be a simple matter of civil rights: “Additionally, if special holiday recognition is being offered to other faith communities (Jewish, Catholic, Protestant), Muslims have strong grounds to make a petition for equal consideration of their holiday requirements.”

It’s ironic that such calls for equal consideration would be made in service of an agenda that is so interested in being separate: the calls for separate eating and exercise facilities are a strange discordant note in a movement that claims for itself the mantle of the American civil rights movements. By the MSA’s lights, the Muslim Rosa Parks would insist on sitting in a separate place on the bus, and Muslim students would demand the right not to have to eat at infidel lunch counters.

This is one of the primary reasons, but by no means the only reason, why the increasingly shrill demands in Western countries for accommodation of Muslim practices are not the latest manifestation of the push for equal rights for minorities, notwithstanding the posturings and protestations of Muslim leaders. Demanding a place at the table is not the same thing as demanding a separate table of one’s own. In the civil rights movement, black Americans were working for full inclusion in the larger secular democratic culture, not trying to carve out their own enclave within it. If anything, they had that already, and that was the problem: if the Supreme Court could conclude in Brown vs. the Board of Education of Topeka that “in the field of public education, the doctrine of separate but equal has no place,” because “separate educational facilities are inherently unequal,” then they are still unequal.

And just as they were deemed unequal in 1954 because they abetted cultural attitudes that exalted one group as superior to the other, so also today: the demands of Muslim groups for separate facilities are in the service of a supremacist ideology that emanates from the Qur’anic assertions that Muslims are the “best of people” (3:110) while unbelievers are the “vilest of created beings” (98:6). Unbelievers are unclean (9:28) – which leads to the conclusion, reasonable to the pious, that Muslims should be chary of contact with them. Every Western capitulation made to demands for Muslim accommodation only feeds these supremacist notions, and works directly against the actual goals of the civil rights movement, which were equal justice and equal rights for all.

What’s more, the MSA, the chief proponent of the growing Muslim accommodations movement in the United States, was listed as a “friend” of the Muslim Brotherhood in the infamous 1992 memorandum which spoke of the “grand Jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” The victory of Allah’s religion over other religions is a Qur’anic imperative: “And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah” (8:39), and it is an inherently supremacist imperative, in which non-Muslims pay a special tax from which Muslims are exempt, the jizya, “with willing submission and feel themselves subdued” (9:29).

Instead of capitulating to Muslim demands for separate facilities, university administrators and public officials ought to question those making the demands about their overall goals, and about the incongruity of claiming that creation of their own enclave is a matter of equality of rights for all.

But when will we have university administrators and public officials with that kind of courage and foresight?

Here infidel, I've made a big batch of kool-aid, have a drink. Infidel: Thank you, I will.

Speaking of Acadamia Watch, here's this column today. Beware, Jesus is referred to as a "slave of Allah!"

This is no different than what is happening here in the United States at places like Harvard University.

Harvard Institutes ‘ Women -Only’ Gym Hours to Appease Muslims ...

Oh, the irony . . .

"The only tired I was, was tired of giving in" - Rosa Parks

Where's the MSM on all this? Oh yeah, it's OKAY if they want separate facilities, all because of political correctness. Next we'll have laws requiring all men to walk on one side of the street as to not offend our multicultural society and the members who can't be seen with a non-relative male....

sheesh.

And the little blond girl said, 'Their Here', as the demons streamed out of the television.

I cannot see why this religious based segregation by sex is any different than old fashioned racial segregation. That was often justified by reference to scripture. If Muslims are uncomfortable with a secular world, let them build their own schools and attend them.

The integration of women into all levels of Western society has been a very good thing for both men and women and it would be a crime to let others ask us to compromise our values for theirs.

Very well done, Robert!

“Of the four wars in my lifetime, none came about because the U.S. was too strong."- Ronald Reagan

Weakness invites attack.

George Washington, the only U.S. President to be elected by a unanimous vote – not once, but twice – wisely said: “To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.” George Washington understood that peace is achieved through strength and conversely that weakness invites attack.

Anyway to find out how many Muslims are attending Harvard on a Scholarship?

The weakness America projected during most of the 1990s came home to roost on September 11th, 2001. Great harm is done when we communicate to our enemies that we are not prepared or willing to defend ourselves.

Jihad dudes - in this country you go to college to meet chicks, not segregate them.

I realize that you visit kindergardens to meet your brides, but that sort of thing is illegal in this country.

Is it just me or are muslims the only group of immigrants/foreign that demand the host country adapt to them?

that should be foreign exhange students

"I cannot see why this religious based segregation by sex is any different than old fashioned racial segregation."

Yeah, well the Universities started 'African American Dorms' and 'African American Student Unions' and effectively segregated academia. To put it bluntly they recreated the equivalent of 'Niggertown' in Macon, Georgia 1920 and called it 'progress'. As long as the Ole Liberal Welfare Plantation Massas dole out the favors its ok. They think they can condescend the same way to Islamo-Nazis. They will have a rude awakening.

I attended a prep school--on scholarship--that had a large number of Jewish kids. I joined in a rally for students to get Passover and Yom Kippur off as holidays. So many kids took these days off anyway that the classrooms were half-empty on these days, and so teachers usually had a session on material that would not be covered on major tests.

Yes, I felt kind of cool and tolerant, protesting was always fun, and the prospect of days off (even if they were made up elsewhere) always sounded good, even to a dedicated student.

The holidays were duly adopted by the administration, and the rally probably hadn't been really necessary.

I knew, though, that this was no "thin end of the wedge"--this was the whole story. There were no further demands--for more minor holidays off such as Purim or Sukkot, or that the cafeteria stop selling bacon cheeseburgers and crab salad sandwiches, or that the kitchen should be fully kosher, or have separate facilities for observant Jews and the non-observant Jews and gentiles, or that the dissection of fetal pigs be banned, or that the Christian kids be barred from wearing crosses or crucifixes on campus, or forego the smear of ashes Catholics wore on Ash Wednesday, or that all Saturday sports meets be canceled.
'
None of this, of course, was ever a consideration. Some of these Muslim students may indeed just want non-denominational prayer rooms, or halal menu options, but for many, this will just embolden them to demand separate facilities for women, and wudu baths, and campus mosques--and eventually, nothing less than full shari'ah law.

"By the MSA’s lights, the Muslim Rosa Parks would insist on sitting in a separate place on the bus, and Muslim students would demand the right not to have to eat at infidel lunch counters."

There has been a strong component in the Black civil rights movement of separatism in tension with the perhaps broader movement of demanding assimilation and integration on terms of equal rights and respect, going back to Marcus Garvey in the 1920s, up through the Nation of Islam, Black Panthers, and others, all of which, if it may be characterized collectively, had as a key component the belief that "white America" was irredeemably racist and therefore, short of some kind of violent revolution, segregation is preferrable to a false integration that would dissolve Black culture and identity into the surrounding white culture that would never be able to rid itself of its essential racism.

Concomitantly, the pathological degree of Western self-criticism in our dominant and mainstream Politically Correct Multi-Culturalism PC MC tends to disparage our ideals as at best hollow and hypocritical, while irrationally lauding "ethnic" cultures (defined as all non-white non-Western cultures) and therefore deserving of being protected from ourselves.

Along comes Islam, a predominantly ethnic Third World culture, onto our radar, and the incoherently and irrationally paradoxical, yet still inexorably effective, machinery of PC MC is triggered to engage its interlocking gears of axioms.

The contradiction of Muslims whose wonderful culture must be respected by, in effect integrating their segregationalism, will not cause cognitive dissonance among most people in the West who now accept PC MC with as much matter-of-fact conviction as they accept the fact that smoking is bad.

I guess there's no chance of them just choosing a different school to go to if they don't like the religious situation on their campus... DUH. Just like I wouldn't go to a Muslim school... But, does anyone in the school admin suggest they go elsewhere??? Of course not - "DIVERSITY IS GOOD" - even if it ends up being zero diversity after all because they've jihaded you right on out of there.

Funny how their demands for "separate facilities" gets no criticism in general as they seek an Islamic apartheid state while Israel which provides equality before the Law is branded an apartheid state.

A few years back, the Congress of the United States striped Bob Jones University, a Conservative Christian University in North Carolina, of its tax exempt status.

The university's offense was that it believed that interracial dating and marriage was unbiblical, and therefore was not permitted on campus.

I wonder if Bob Jones had based its racial policies on Koranic injunctions, if Congress would have dared to moved against it?

It would be interesting to see the reaction and excuses of the university, if a Christian or Jewish group on campus demanded seperate ficilities for Muslims, based on Islams unbiblical attitude towards Women, Jews and Christians -- not to mention the threats of violence against other faiths contained in the Koran and Ahadieth.

Think they could get the support of Congress?

Why not use Islams' own rope to hang themselves? Photocopy this exact photo of the segregation in Mecca, and plaster it everywhere on campus. I mean EVERYWHERE. Restrooms, Library, all Dorms, all Fraternity and Sorority Houses, all faculty offices and breakrooms. Ask every Muslim student to explain the sign in front of the entire class or lecture. Embarrass the hell out of them with their own ideals. Anger them until they feel compelled to drop out or withdraw, all the while being ready to respond to ANY violence or threat thereof with overwhelming force and immediate arrest/deportation.

It is a start. Good Day.

I'm all for segregation: Muslims stay in their world, and we stay in ours.

Robert, this a gem and worthy of tatoo-ing on every nay saying liberals palm lest they forget what freedom and equality is REALLY about..

We have to keep using the correct terminology and vernacular to prick the ears of the PC establishment, words like, apartheid, supremicism and misogyny sink in to the liberal elites fixed mindset..
I see there little rabbit like eyes flash and freeze everytime I utter these concepts in relation to islams assault on REAL liberty...it works. We just have to "keep on keeping on"...to borrow a phrase.

I loved your post..sums up my experience far more eloquently than I ever could.

"FREEDOM OF SPEECH" rings loud and clear in every American's mind, but why don't more of us expand on it?

We read of the rediculous requests of Muslims for footbaths for Muslim taxi drivers, separate exercise times and facilities for Muslim college women and now requests for changes in lecture times to accomodate Muslim prayers at Australian Universities - and we (the authorities) think we have to give in to them!

#%&#@^*@! when are we going to forget political correctness and begin to stick up for our country (Australia too) and say "NO!"

Hello everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster, and all that.

Anyhow, I'm Australian, and at least one university here told them to get stuffed (not in so many words of course, but that was the gist of the message); that was La Trobe university. It seems that some university administrators still have their heads screwed on.

Here's one other thing; Australia's main immigrants are, in this order; Brits, Kiwis, Indians, Chinese (yes, in the last 2 years, Indians have migrated to Australia in larger numbers than Chinese).

None of those folks like Islamofascist lunatics (except maybe the Brits, who have grown too tolerant of them); the Indians especially have a National experience with them. The Chinese will just get annoyed at them.

Plus, all Islamofascists in Australia live in Sydney or Melbourne. The rest of the country has a total Islamofascist population of around 10. Certainly, here in my home-town of Adelaide, it is extremely rare to see a hajib; they must make up 0.1% of the population here.

Make no mistake; there is little love here for these selfish, demanding, obnoxious, intolerant fools. Most of those who support them only do so through ignorance; that ignorance will only last so long.
