The Great Hope for Peace in the Middle East says he may return to jihad terrorist violence

On the way to his Nobel Peace Prize

Not that Bush, Rice, or anyone else who have so much hope invested in this man will care to notice.

"Abbas: 'Armed resistance not ruled out,'" from the Jerusalem Post (thanks to all who sent this in):

PA President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday said that he does not rule out returning to the path of armed "resistance" against Israel and took pride in the fact that he had been the first to fire on Israel and that his organization had trained Hizbullah.

In an interview with the Jordanian daily al-Dustur, Abbas said that he was opposed to an armed struggle against Israel - for the time being.

"At this present juncture, I am opposed to armed struggle because we cannot succeed in it, but maybe in the future things will be different," he said.

The PA president also expressed pride both in himself and in his organization, Fatah, for trailblazing the path of resistance.

Ah, a real point of pride!

I must have missed the ceasefire.

You must be joking. That's not a Nazi salute and to suggest that it is in an otherwise serious article is irrsponsible.

Hile Hitler? ...or what? Must be an eerie coincidence.

"so much hope invested in this man...

Whole lot of hope-mongering going on these days. Everywhere you look. Hope, hope!they cry. But there is no hope, not for those who rely on that hope-mongering. There is only, day after day after day, the need to accurately assess, to grasp the nature of a disquieting reality, to analyze the instruments of, and size of, the threat, its duration, its scope, and then to figure out how best, using the most effective and economic means, to hold that threat in check, to diminish its force, to weaken, if possible by exploiting pre-existing fissures, that Camp of the Enemy. Inspirational talk will not do it. Study by that metaphorical lamplight, and then clear-eyed relentlessness in dealing with what is, right now, a manageable problem -- that is the only way.

Hope-mongering based on wilful ignorance, or desire to avoid recognizing the nature, of the meaning and menace of Islam, will not do.

Agreed. It is a "lazy" Nazi salute.

Joking, yes, but for the humorless and literal-minded, I changed the caption.

"At this present juncture, I am opposed to armed struggle because we cannot succeed in it, but maybe in the future things will be different," he said."
-- from a statement by Mahmoud Abbas, the current principal warlord who commands the Slow Jihadists of Fatah and controls the Jizyah that has, thanks to him, begun to flow again, not least into the pockets of those same Fatah warlords

What could be clearer? "At the present juncture" we will not engage in the qitaal of what Infidels call "terrorism" (for that is the only qitaal we know, that is what put the PLO on the map, that is what has worked for us) not because we have the slightest moral objection to it, but because "we cannot succeed in it" for now, "but maybe in the future things will be different."

He has clearly stated, for an Arab audience, his intent to get what he can, however he can, and for the moment terrorism will not work. But not only does he not denounce that method, but states that he is only temporarily abjuring the instrument of violence because the Israelis are too damn clever at detecting, and killing, those involved in such terrorism. But he doesn't rule it out. No, he tells his fellow Arabs in Jordan --same religiion, language, fairy-tales, same stock in every way, as the "Palestinians" -- at any time, when we feel we can succeed at it, we will revert to the methods we had to pretend to have given up in order to get the eight billion dollars in Jizyah from the European and American infidels flowing again, and he looks forward to a new day, a day "when things will be different" and the Israelis, weakened, will no longer be quite so effective, and we, Fatah, the boys of the PLO, can return to our old methods.

"On the way to his Nobel Peace Prize"

Ha Ha Ha! May even be prophetic - given who the past recipient was.

OT: Naseem is history. This calls for a cover post

Abbas has expressed hudna. He's just waiting for the right time to gather his forces and other evil allies in the region before launching another attack on Israel. In the meantime, with Western audiences, he'll pretend to be all peace and fluffy and blather about ceasefires and peacetalks while planning to attack Israel in the background.

And what is he proud of? The fact that Palestinian children are being indoctrinated to hate and murder Jews? The fact that a lot of the Palestinian population can't wait to destroy Israel?

This is a sick society we are dealing with unfortunately. Israel will need to fight another war, yet again, against these psychopaths.

His moustache needs to be darker, if he's serious about this.

IP - this is cause for celebration!

Lets throw a Going Bye-Bye Party - put me down for the salt-free cow dip (Naseem's favorite - yum).

Actually, n1cholson, I got an email from Abbas reading, "Listen, you queer, stop calling me a crypto-Nazi, or I'll sock you in your g--d--- face and you'll stay plastered," whereupon I decided to change the caption.

Yes, another joke!

Yep. The Hunda will end someday.

These Islamists are as predictable as the sun rising in the morning.

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Yes, it is probably that he will wait in order to amass a fortune similar to Arafat's. Once it is secure in Swiss banks, he will let the rowdies have their way.

Yes, Hunda.

The 'Peace' you have, until you are strong enough, to bring 'true' ISLAMIC peace.

......i.e. *death* to those who resist ISLAM.

ISLAM, a false religion, for a false people.

How thoughtful of him to say that after being promissed the jiziyah... I mean, the "Aid".

How can he return to something that he never left?

Or is this a threat so that the State Department will start cutting bigger checks?

I wonder how hard western leaders work at ignoring things like this. Mazen's resume is #2 to ArchTErrorist Yasser Arafat. "Raise your weapons against Israel", black september, and listen to the boasting of teaching Hizballah, setting the bar for al qaeda.... countless Fatah attacks, which seem to be alot more deadly and better coordinated than Hamas....assassinations on hikers, highway snipers....all attributed to Mazens own organization Fatah. Not surprisingly deadly considering the amount of US special forces training received since the early 90s and throughout, and continues today. Fatah's charter's objectives, if memory serves me, are still the same as Hamas charters.

Mazen is from a smarter more cunning generation...he learned from the best, he knows how to fool those so eager to be fooled. Who's going to call this guy and his terror organization out for what it is? Israel certainly doesn't, they prop him up just the same, and have allowed the Oslo Trojan HOrse to spread.

That's not a salute. Look at his face, he is obviously swatting house flies.

I keep saying that he is ready to vacate the premises and take off with the treasury, if things get too hot. I wonder how big his Swiss bank account is now? He looks to me like a jackrabbit that could jackrabbit at any second...

Mr. Spencer

...as to Nicholson, and his remark on this thread, he's obviously a philosopher-by definition, one who can sniff your bicycle seat and tell you what you ate for lunch..I don't think he'll even "get"your last post about Abbas, just run out to the garage and get another sniff IMHO, just blow him off..regards, Sir

What looks bad for Abbas must look great to Israel.

Palestine splintered into 2 with Hamas begging to get itself crushed. It's an 8 Billion Dollar buy out that Abbas will never live long enough to spend. His West Bankers will spaz when Hamas is dealt with. His own will kill him if he fails to support Hamas or the Israel's will if he does. Either way, His Goose is cooked.

Given the time frame that the impossible is supposed to happen in. Things will move right along at a more violent pace.

Habbas speak with Forked Tong. Put White man to shame.

Yep. The Hunda will end someday.

I never wanted to drive a Hundai, anyway.

Before the hudna is over, there has to be a return to the status quo ante, and we need to arm and train Fatah. In the meantime, let the goodtimes roll and the jizya flow!

Let da goodtime roll
An’ a jizzya flow
Soon da Kuffar come
An’ da Muslim done

Is a cho’ fo’ sho’
But a mus’ be done
Big Mo got it commin’
So let da Kuffar roll

Big Mo say “kill an’ rape”
An’ a Muslim jus’ keep da faith
Bomb, kill an cut da head
An’ a Muslim jus’ keep da faith

When evil come to da lan’
A reckoning comin,’ as God’s plan
‘Cause God do’ wan’ no bogus “truth”
An’ a Kuffar say “DEUS VULT!”

Robert,

Given the fact Abbas' thesis theme was Holocaust Denial, it's pretty safe to call him Crypto Nazi.

Abbas never retired from terrorism. The sooner, Bush, Rice and the mindless and spineless leaders within the EU come to terms with this fact; then, once and for all, we can eradicate terrorism. Perhaps these aforementioned western leaders should hand the task to Israel; so that they won’t dirty their well manicured and quivering hands.

ballzack,

Unfortunately the "realists" are trying to earn their lobby fees so Rice will do the bidding of Baker and Djerejian ( her mentor I believe) not that she seems much put out by her failure with regards to the Gaza accord.
The true pity is that US foreign policy is not driven by facts.
As for the EU crowd, well they have long used the Arabs to get at the Israelis in a sort of spiteful "clean hands" way of getting back at those uppity Jews.
