Why is Keith Ellison on the Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism?

And why shouldn't he be? A press release from Americans Against Hate:

(Coral Springs, FL) Yesterday, February 19, 2008, the Legislative Director from U.S. Representative Ron Klein’s Washington, D.C. office, Mira Kogen, informed Americans Against Hate (AAH) Chairman Joe Kaufman that Rep. Klein (D-Florida) will not be removing Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minnesota) from the recently created Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism (CTFAS). Klein co-chairs the task force with U.S. Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana). CTFAS was created by Holocaust survivor, Rep. Tom Lantos, who passed away earlier this month.

Last week, an AAH delegation met with Rep. Klein to ask him to remove Rep. Ellison. AAH spent over a half hour showing Klein documentation proving direct contact between Ellison and radical Muslim organizations, which included the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Both MAS and CAIR had recently been named by the U.S. government as being part of the Muslim Brotherhood, and CAIR had been linked by the FBI to Hamas.

According to Kogen, Rep. Klein approached Ellison to ask him about the information he (Klein) received from his meeting with AAH, and Ellison told him that he had “publicly denounced” and would continue to publicly denounce the anti-Semitism from the groups (MAS and CAIR). Kogen told Kaufman that Rep. Klein was satisfied with Rep. Ellison’s statements to him and that they were consistent with the principles of the anti-Semitism task force.

However, Americans Against Hate points out that, to its knowledge, never has Keith Ellison publicly denounced any of the organizations in question. He has never denounced the anti-Semitism from the groups nor any of the terrorist connections of the groups. To the contrary, Rep. Ellison has praised the groups and has spoken on a number of occasions at the groups’ conferences. Last May, Ellison was the keynote speaker at an event sponsored by the Minnesota chapter of MAS, at the same time the organization had on its website statements calling for the murder of Jews. The statements still remain.

AAH Chairman Joe Kaufman stated: “We are profoundly disappointed that Ron Klein has chosen not to remove Keith Ellison from the anti-Semitism task force. Ellison has never denounced MAS or CAIR, and if anybody has proof that he has, we would like to see it. He has only supported these organizations. As long as Keith Ellison sits of the anti-Semitism task force, the task force will have absolutely no meaning.”

Americans Against Hate calls on citizens to contact Representative Ron Klein’s offices to demand that he remove Keith Ellison from the Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism (CTFAS) immediately.

See, it's in the Qur'an. Not just in one little spot that nobody reads anymore. It was a real shock to me to read the Qur'an and discover that in our modern world, a religion could be openly anti-Semitic.

He's on it for several reasons.

One is, of course, that it is useful to him in any re-election campaign: "Congressman Ellison serves on the Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism." Just the think to tout on campaign brochures given out in those Minneapolis synagouges with Interfaith-Healing rabbis who supported Ellison the first time around, or want to jump on the bandwagon when he runs again, and would welcome (those athletic supporters!) the fig leaf.

Another is that he, Ellison, may well be carefully tracking all the business and see if anything comes up, any charges are made, any hints of activity that might be directed at antisemitism coming out of mosques, or to be located in the Qur'an, or Hadith. If one wishes to monitor what goes on in this committee, and what better way than to be a member of the committee?

Finally, membership on the committee will provide ideas as to how to mimic its efforts, but this time with a congressinal committee on something cairfully called "Congressional Task Force on Islamophobic Activities." Why not? Who is to say him, and CAIR, nay?

Of course, there is the possibiilty that Congressmen will at that point be in command of their faculties, and will reject, intelligently but implacably, such a suggestion, but not before analyzing that weasel word "islamophobia" and what its employment to silence intelligent and well-informed criticism of texts or rather, of tenets, arising naturally from those texts. Yes, Congressmen can rise to the occasion. It has been known to happen.

So, Ellison "publicly" denounced MAS and CAIR. Will he publicly denounce the anti-semitism that pervades the Quran and the sayings of Mohammed?

Portions of the comment below were taken from an article written by Jeff Baird Feb.14th who attended the America’ Truth Forums and Basics Project Symposium Exposing the Threat of Islamist Terrorism in Dallas, Texas this month.

I think Congressman Klein should take a sentence out of the Reagan Playbook " Trust But Verify". Apparently he is not willing to do the latter. This committee is going to look like the human rights committee in the UN at this juncture as it unwittingly lets a fox into the hen house.

With Ellison who is a member of a religion that speaks to anti-Semitism at every turn on this committee, how can we give it full validity?

Take a Look at the very definition of anti-Semitism :prejudice and hostility toward Jews as a religious, racial, or ethnic group. While the term’s etymology indicates that anti-Semitism is directed against all Semitic peoples, since its creation it has been used exclusively to refer to hostility towards Jews

Keith Ellison performed the eulogy of Hesham Hussein, http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=56917F2A-4F1B-4AEC-AC37-094588FE9D0C , and called him a good friend. Hesham Hussein was President of MAS Minnesota and was anti-semitic, proven by the content on their website,

”The Congressional Anti-Semitism Task Force will provide insights into the depth and effects of anti-Semitism worldwide.” “The Task Force’s primary role is to bring to light specific cases of anti-Semitism and educate Members of Congress, world leaders and citizens about the horrors that these cases pose on society.”

AAH displayed for Congressman Klein a number of documents showing direct contact between Congressman Ellison and radical Muslim organizations, which included the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Both MAS and CAIR have been named by the U.S. government as being part of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), a radical Islamic organization based in Egypt. CAIR, as well, has been tied to Hamas.

One of the exhibits was a part of the program from an event sponsored by the North American Imams Federation (NAIF) in November of 2006. It contained a photo of Ellison next to the photos of Al-Qaeda web designer Mazen Mokhtar and “unindicted co-conspirator” of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Siraj Wahhaj.

Another exhibit showed violently anti-Jewish, anti-Christian and pro-Hamas statements from the website of the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society (MAS-Minnesota). These statements were up on the site when Congressman Ellison spoke in front of the group in May of 2007, and they were up on the site this month when he spoke at a memorial for MAS-Minnesota’s President who was killed in an auto accident in Saudi Arabia on January 26th.

America need a much better explanation as to why Congressman Klein not only chose Ellison to serve on this committee, but why he insists on keeping him based on Ellisons words.

It's a "Congressional Committee". That should explain it all. With approval ratings as poor as those of the current sitting, I'm surprised they haven't passed a law prohibiting human decency as a violation of inherent rights or even cited the practice of ethics as indictable as alien conspiracy to subvert the will (whim) of Congress.

Why is Keith Ellison on the Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism?

Because when you want to know about something, you go to the experts.

Nothing said here has directly linked Mr. Ellison to anything anti-Semitic. Maybe he is a "hip" Muslim who is too dense to realize that most Muslims aren't "hip" like him?

Dumbo,

Your right, "nothing said here has directly linked Mr. Ellison to anything anti-Semitic". I guess we're inferring it from the Koran, the Hadith, and fourteen centuries of history.

Pretty tenuous link, huh?

Apes n' pigs, or is that pigs n' apes?

Hugh,

Your -

...cairfully called "Congressional Task Force on Islamophobic Activities."

Sly dog. Too funny!

So, Keith Ellison, the first Muslim to serve in Congress, who hails from a district that includes ALL of downtown Minneapolis, and parts of Hennepin and Anoka counties....is concerned about Anti-Semitism???

Why don't I believe this???
