This lovely missive came in this morning from an IP address in Damascus, Syria. The subject line was "Robert Spencer," so I suppose all the rest is meant to refer to me:

This is, of course, all from the Qur'an (7:176-179). I haven't noticed my tongue lolling out, but you never know. Anyway, for the author of this email, the present conflict is essentially religious, and bound up with the teachings of Islam and the Qur'an. Yet Western analysts continually and consistently reject those teachings as irrelevant to understanding the motives and goals of the jihadists, and the mainstream media, both liberal and conservative, considers investigation of those motives and goals to be "bigoted" and offensive in itself.
At least you can explain it and it seems to make sense in an Islamic context. But can you explain this? Its a new comment on a rather old thread.

The upshot, Robert, is that the Syrian IP fan sent you a KJV approximation, a "similitude," as it were. Whether or not your tongue "lolls out" when you are "attacked" may mean something else entirely in Allah's pure 7th century Arabic.
As an English aside, why would "We" (Uh, excuse me, but isn't that the sin of shirk, of giving God partners?) make "Many" "Jinns" and "men" "for hell?" This SUGGESTS that Allah is one truly sick bastard (Please excuse the French) who LIKES to torture creatures. Surely it means something entirely different in Allah's pure 7th century Arabic, doesn't it????

Allah is not only sick, he's also very limited. The only language he knows is Arabic. He must have come into existence after God brought down the tower of Babel.
He claims to be a universal god but he can only hear you if you speak a long-dead dialect. He doesn't care if you even know what the words mean. As long as you can utter the sounds, you're okay in his book. The modern-day quran can't be the word of God either, even if it's in Arabic. It's not the language used by Mohammed. Even Arabic speakers can't figure out what he meant. (Was it dates or virgins?) The language has changed. No Muslim has the word of God quite right. The "revelation" has been lost.

As on another thread by an enraged muslim. It really is not worth the time because they are not debating they are pronouncing sentence. If this was a western they have pulled the gun from the holster. What do you do standing feet away. I don't think it is talk.
Know I am not advocating violence but the wrong response (and I am as guilty as the next) is not the argue. At this time I would walk away or I would tell him I am not accepting his holier than thou attitude and take it as an insult for being talked to that way. Ask, were is the apology?
They will become unglued at that point so watch out. This kind of response is for the mixed company standing around, hopefully they will see the true nature of Islam by his reaction. It may work, it may not but I think this is the best tactic.

yea so what? thats not really an emotional response by a dog but a physical reaction to being warm, dogs tend to ventilate by lolling out their tongues.
Too bad for the Muslims there's nothing to prove anything taught by the Kuran (other than perhaps the fact that by sticking a lethal weapon like a sword into somebody's body--infidel or otherwise-- the person will die, which we knew anyway).
