A study from the Global Terrorism Research Centre at Monash University suggests that Australia's approach to stopping terrorism might actually be encouraging it.
Waleed Aly from the centre says the aggressive police approach is alienating young Muslim men, who may be more likely to turn to radical groups as a result.
He says a community-based approach may be more effective than a hardline approach.
Any examples of this "hardline" bent?
"The problem is that as we repeat that [hardline] approach, what we actually end up doing is exacerbating the problem," he told tonight's Four Corners program.
"We set in motion drivers that move us towards greater radicalisation."
He says currently the police are too willing to use aggressive tactics.
"[Police] feel 'the more aggressive we can be, the harder we can be, the better'," he said.
"That is, that it's better to err on the side of being aggressive than to err on the side of being soft."
In summary: Leave us alone, and/or we'll kill you.
Well for starters, we haven't had an attack on our soil yet although there have been a couple of attacks foiled already.
As for Waleed Aly, he's more concerned with adopting the tone of "let's talk with the terrorists in our community to accommodate their grievances" rather than "let's catch the buggers".
He probably knows who the jihadists are but he doesn't want to do anything about it except think that they are friendly enough to speak with and accommodate.
If anything, I believe the police aren't aggressive enough in Sydney when dealing with these guys. Waleed Aly doesn't acknowledge this fact. After over enthusiastic youths behead a person or two or blow up a bus with several tens of serious injuries, we should just ignore them so as not to further encourage them! Trying to punish is "hardline." Murder, rape and pillage will decrease if we allow young muslims a little bit of inner personal struggle or jihad space to release their youthful energy.

Sickening to say the least. I am guess that most of the police and authorities, even in the Terrorism Centre at Monash university don't have a clue about islam.
It is beyond belief that no one uses people like Robert or Hugh to help educate the morons about islam and what it is capable of, and exactly how long the west has been enduring this attack.
Nowhere did it come out that violence could stem from their imams, or the koran.
All their disaffection is a result of being made to feel like an outsider in the country where some of them were born.
All of them said they were muslims: few said they were Australians - funny that.
Not a mention of anything muslims may or may not have done to bring this on - eg the gang rapes and abuse that has been going on for many years.

Of course tough policing incites them to further violence, that's how you know you hit them where it hurts. It is the only way to deal with them.
It is Islam that incites them to violence in the first place, but how dare that be assumed?
Back in my younger days as an Army MP on the mean streets of TDC, Korea; SOP for violators of any kind was this:
1. Ask them once to comply with the regulation.
2. If they balked, give them a lawful order to comply.
3. If they disobeyed that lawful order, kick their ass and call an ambulance for them.

The way that this would happen - if a person, for example, gets caught for a traffic violation and then the person will become even worse I do believe means that the person is a paranoid, anti-social freak. And I probably didn't even name the correct psychological disorder.

They're enjoying the benefits of Western society. They are being cared for and their rights respected. Okay, there's always a few malcontents but why would the rest of the neighborhood take exception to those malcontents being rounded up and taken off the street unless they were in sympathy with them?
The only people who oppose "aggressive policing" are lawbreakers and their partners in crime, which includes many criminal defense lawyers.
Years ago in Berkeley California USA, a radical black group murdered a policeman, with the idea that police oppression was the cause, the murder would put more police on the street, causing more oppression, and more police murders, causing more police... until the build up of escalating attacks became a war.
This tactic failed. The reason why is because the number of black people willing to get involved in that kind of plan are very few.
It is different in Islam where the number willing to get involved is many.
I know this is disgusting, but if you are going to squeeze a pimple, you must expect it to pop.

Muslims are above our law. Muslims mentality is too differnt to join western sociiety in numbers.
Instead of using "aggressive" police tactics, how about we just deport them and stop any future muslim immigration into western countries.
