Yet in all the firing, no bullets hit the cartoonists.

"Strike against blasphemous cartoons: Nine vehicles torched, over six injured in Karachi," from the Daily Times (thanks to Twostellas):

KARACHI: Nine vehicles were torched and over half-a-dozen people reportedly sustained bullet wounds during the strike called by the Sunni Tehreek (ST) for Friday. Meanwhile, the police have reportedly taken over a dozen ST workers in custody since Thursday night and the ST has claimed that the arrests were because its workers were just trying to create awareness among people by distributing leaflets, etc.

Nearly 15 people, including two ST workers, sustained bullet injuries because of aerial firing in separate parts of the city. The injured include Saleem, 30, (New Karachi), Shahrukh Khan, 18, (Shafiq Mor), Yawer, 42, (Korangi), Sajjad, 10, (Soldier Bazaar), Kauser Khan (Gulistan-e-Johar), Ghulam Hussain (Risala), Manzur (Saeedabad), Sakina and Mateen (Orangi Town), Atiq (Ranchore Lane), Ali Gohar, Yousuf, an unidentified person (North Karachi) and two ST workers, Saqib and Muslim Qadri, from Shah Faisal Colony and Taimoria respectively.

Meanwhile, nine vehicles and one café were reportedly burnt in different parts of the city.

“We have taken 11 ST workers in custody since Thursday night,” said Karachi Police Chief Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui. “Seven of them were taken into custody as they fled after setting fire to two vehicles in Landhi Town, while four others were taken into custody from Saddar Town as they forcefully closed shops early Friday morning. Cases will be registered against them for taking the law into their own hands.”

Siddiqui said that strict security measures were taken by law enforcers because of which the whole day passed relatively peacefully and without any major incidents. “Just four vehicles were burnt Friday, two of them at Yousuf Plaza and two at Sukhan,” said Siddiqui.

He further said that nearly seven people were reported hurt and it is difficult to judge in which incidents they had sustained bullet injuries.

However, ST central leader Shahid Ghouri, while taking to Daily Times, denied the police chief’s accusations and said that the ST did not cause any disturbance in the city as it was a strike against those who are hurting the Muslims. He added that it was the responsibility of all Muslims to make the strike successful.

“Nearly 20 ST workers were taken into custody from different parts of the city,” claimed Ghouri.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamat Ahl-e-Sunnat, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP), Tanzeem-ul-Madaaris Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan (TMASP), traders, transporters and others groups supported the strike....

Yet more proof of Islam's peacefullness.

OT------ "Sharia Law" gets respectful NY Times treatment. By Noah Feldman

Nearly 15 people, including two ST workers, sustained bullet injuries because of aerial firing in separate parts of the city.

Apparently, their technical education didn't cover Newton's laws.

Nine vehicles were torched and over half-a-dozen people reportedly sustained bullet wounds during the strike called by the Sunni Tehreek (ST) for Friday...

What is it with Fridays?? Surely this cannot be connected to a specific day of worship for the moslems, it must always be a coincidence... Geez, what are you (am I), an islamophobe?

Let's see. Muslims are angry at someone or something so they run out and trash their own stuff or kill their own. Huh?

Who's two bricks short of a load here?

I have always been fascinated at the sheer stupidity of a culture that shoots bullets up into the air as a gesture of celebration (or whatever). Like RalphInfidel points out, not the smartest move.

To stop the jihad, we need more Motoons!

Rioting, torching cars, what is this strange magical hold the Quran has on these people? Well, I posted elsewhere that there is something about reading the Quran that makes the reader want to run right out and torch cars. What does Allah have against cars? I thought he invented them, or was that Algore?

Nearly 15 people, including two ST workers, sustained bullet injuries because of aerial firing in separate parts of the city.

What does that mean, random shooting from copters?
Would this be the first time Pakistan used copters to fire on raging muslims?

just think of the waste, all that millions of dollers worth of militery and economic assistance gone to a bunch of corrupt pakistani politician and these ungrateful rabid islam maniacs people.

Dumb Logic 101--- Call a strike, shoot in the air, and burn the cars of your friends and neighbors half way around the world from someone you are mad at. This kind of brainy logic makes me want to convert to Islam. How about you?

I agree with tanstaafl--Bring on more motoons!!

"aerial firing"

As opposed to firing guns underwater, which isn't nearly as accurate.

Being violent to prove Islam is peaceful

Robert, your caption is PERFECT! LOL

Cartoons?
Then let's kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Muslims killing Jews & Christians?
Then let's party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Muslims killing Muslims?
Crickets chirping.....

When I lived in the Southwest, around July Fourth, there would be one or two announcements from the police and sheriff on TV reminding people not to discharge firearms into the air.

It must be something about living in a dry, sandy place.

Perhaps they're torching cars because they're protesting cartoons?

One can only imagine the flow of saliva had the Jihadists been protesting spitoons.

No surprise here. Muslims reveal themselves to the world yet again as violent and intolerant fools. Same old same old.

Is there anything more tiring than Islam? I can't think of anything. Nope, not a damn thing. Thanks for nothing, Mohammed.

Who would have think!

The Pentagon is spending billions and all we really needed was a couple of blimps with Mo painted on the side. They would go into riots and kill one another and destroy their ability to fight.

Just think what an animated Mo would do? Maybe something where he puts on a vest like something and gets into a car and drives into a crowded marked. No! No! thats been done. How about Mo gets . . .

If and when the rest of the world gets turned around it is going to be so easy wiping these idiots back to the 7th century.

Psalms 92:6-7
A senseless man has no knowledge, Nor does a stupid man understand this: That when the wicked sprouted up like grass And all who did iniquity flourished, It was only that they might be destroyed forevermore.

Did he, could he, Mohammed, did Mohammed really look like that?

With, or without the bomb, he was the bomb.

Nearly 15 people, including two ST workers, sustained bullet injuries because of aerial firing in separate parts of the city. [...] Meanwhile, nine vehicles and one café were reportedly burnt in different parts of the city.

Of course, it was the Jooooooos that made them do it. So, in response to the violence, the UN dutifully passed a resolution condemning...Israel.

"bullet injuries because of aerial firing"

Would it not be safer to point the muzzle down towards the ground and fire? I'd be first to view one of their protest/celebratory shootouts.

for some reason the motoon reminds me of billowing smoke directly after an impact.

We're just sick of hearing about ol' Mo' all the time. Isn't it time to promote Jesus instead?

Even the Danes are fed up with the Motoons. Many are probably wishing that they had never heard about Muhammad. Life would be a *lot* better without him.

Anyone got a time machine, to go back in history and drown him, or something?

for some reason the motoon reminds me of billowing smoke directly after an impact.

That's precise. The best known Islamic society in Denmark called them 'A stab at our heart'.

I see significant benefit here.

ST did not cause any disturbance in the city as it was a strike against those who are hurting the Muslims.
-from the article

Names! We need names! Who in Karachi was hurting Muslims? If this was a protest against the cartoonists then why strike against people thousands of miles away? We couldn't care less what you do to your own neighborhoods.

ST was handing out leaflets but its people were arrested after setting fire to cars. Maybe the leaflets were to be read and then used as kindling?

Killings of mohammedans in Karachi, over cartoons published by infidels in Europe.

Seems any killiing will do, as long as somebody somewhere dies.

To prove to the Main stream media and other lemmings how outrageous this is I suggest that all references to "the prophet" be followed by the initials "bboh" (Bearded man with Bomb On Head) .

Perhaps the realization that four letters can create further cries for censorship will open up some eyes.

Hail M..... BBOH

Someone needs to tell these people that mo-toon riots are soooo last year.

Find something new to seethe about. This mo-toon thing is getting boring.

Being violent to prove Islam is peaceful. --RS
.......................................

Yes, the irony is palpable. And yet, there is more going on here--many Muslims, especially jihadists, have no problem admitting that Islam is indeed violent, and that Mohammed started them on this path of violence. Mostly, they are proud of this violence, and consider it a virtue, despite all the references to "peace" and "compassion".

What they don't want is for Infidels to point out the clear link between Islamic ideology and violence, especially in a manner that is satyrical. The Infidels should be fawning in their respect for Islam and Mohammed at all times, or there will be hell to pay.

Of course, on this level their actions are working, at least in some quarters. Geert Wilders has been unable to find a television station with the commitment to liberty to air his film, "Fitna", and most newspapers throughout the world have been too intimidated by threats of violence to reprint the Motoons.

Kudos to the brave newspapers of Denmark, and the original cartoonists, especially the stalwart Kurt Westergaard, who, at 71, can teach most of us a few things about courage.

There was a show on one of the history channels over the weekend about the birthplace of Jesus; the narrarator mentioned how Mo's mob reveres Prophet Jesus as one of their main guys; he also said how much the world's three primary religions -- Christianity, Judaism, and Islam ---
have in common. The B.S. continues on and on...
