"Terror sleeper cells hidden in Mumbai, say police," from the Indo-Asian News Service:
Mumbai, March 12 (IANS) Many terrorist sleeper cells are hidden in Mumbai with designs to blow up top business and political hubs in the city, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Mumbai Police disclosed Wednesday.
The revelations follow preliminary investigations after two Bangladeshi terrorists were gunned down late Tuesday night in Mira Road, in adjoining Thane district by the ATS.
'The targets include the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Jeejeebhoy Towers Building, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) headquarters, the Mantralaya, the Maharashtra government headquarters, all in south Mumbai, and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in suburban Bandra-Kurla Complex,' Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS) Param Bir Singh told IANS.
According to Singh, the two killed Bangladeshi terrorists had close ties with the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI). One of them has been identified as Mohammad Ali.
The police also recovered fake Indian currency notes, two small firearms and a white powdery substance suspected to be RDX from the two gunned down Bangladeshis.
'We have sent this powder to the lab for analysis to ascertain whether it is RDX or not,' Singh said.
'The Mumbai police have gone on a high alert following the encounter and security at all important places has been beefed up,' Singh said.

Oh God. Yet another damned Islamic terror group with one of those mix-n'-match names: this one with the elements "Jihad" and "Islami." Okay, I give: what's "Harkat" in Bengali? Rabindranath Tagore never told me there'd be nights like this.
A Mohammedan reporter in the Toilet Paper of India recently had this fascinating account of an incident where Marxist activist Arundhati Roy had to flee tail between legs. From that article:
I'm sure it will be news to Robert, Bill Warner, Srjda Trifkovic, Ali Sina and a whole host of people that they are a part of the Hindutva brigade.Hugh
You know Bengali? Wow, I never get your limits - is there anything (including languages) you don't know?
Anyway, answer to your question 'what's "Harkat" in Bengali?' is 'andolon', which translates into 'movement', as in a revolutionary movement (something that Calcutta has in abundance as Newcastle has coal or al-Hasa has oil, or Pakistan has jihad. I'm guessing your question was rhetorical, and you didn't really expect an answer to this one).
Yes, of course, anyone who is disturbed by the Jihad verses in the Qur'an, or stories in the Hadith that disturb, or elements in the life of Muhammad that give one pause, and more, must be Hindutva "fanatics" -- as both the Western press, and much of the fashionably appeasement-minded Indian press, likes to call them. Yes, we have all been raised up to believe all kinds of false stories about those wonderful Muslim conquerors who did so much for the Hindus of India -- just look at the way they so thriftily recycled all that stone from the Hindu temples they destroyed, and used it for those mosques that can be found in so many places where a venerable Hindu temple or temple complex once stood.
Yes, if those in the West who have found something worrisome about Islam -- as did John Wesley, John Quincy Adams, Tocqueville, Churchill -- are looked into, one no doubt discovers -- just ask Muslim apologists -- that they must either have been Zionists avant la lettre (yes, great readers of Herzl, long before Herzl was born) or, in an alternative narrative, devotees of Sita Ram Goel and Narendra Moti, no doubt having been assigned honorary membership in the Brahmin caste or possibly that of the Kshatriyas.
My son in law has aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Mumbai (Bombay). This is causing me to become bitter and angry. My daughter, her husband, and grandson were visiting there and returned two days before the trains were bombed in 2006. I am sick and tired of these cretins and their jihad. I consider all Muslims to be like Pit Bull Dogs and Rotweillers; they are vicious curs until proven otherwise. Then they still are capable of reverting. Insulting? Tough, deal with it. I've had it.
Pelayo,
May your family be safe.
I can only wish that our leaders felt the same way about "insulting" the Muslims. Instead they would offer up our freedom, all in the name of peace - the peace of the dead.
PMK, thanks, I just hope they stay in the US for a while. After my daughter married, I thought that I might like to take a trip to India, but after this bit of news and the 2006 bombings, I'll be staying put.
Pelayo-
That is unfortunate. India is a wonderful place that you should visit. Go to Hindu majority areas (even Christian areas are bad because they tend to work with the jihadists) like Rajasthan and Maharasthra (but not Mumbai/Bombay) if you really feel safety is an issue.
